Wasn't Ghost the woman in Ant Man 2? This looks like a different actress.
Ghost was in Ant-Man 2 but it's the same actress.

I noticed they changed the ending of the trailer from what they showed at Comic Con or whatever it was. Originally it was the typical Whedon-esque bickering in the car but now it's Bucky attacking their car. Wonder why they changed that.

EDIT: As for my thoughts on it, I feel like it could go either way. If they lean more into these characters being amoral trained killers who do the dirty work that the Avengers can't/won't, it could be interesting. But more likely it'll just be another 'found family' thing where they also find redemption or whatever.

Trailer is an identity crisis, can't decide if it wants to be a comedy or a commentary or an action movie or god forbid a superhero movie so it's just a scattershot of everything at once. Essentially all the problems that were discussed in this thread regarding "Marvel humor".

"That's not good."

Fuck's sake.

Not going to comment on the fact that the team full of "bad people" has four white men when they're conspicuously going extinct everywhere else.

Actually yes I am. Deadpool, Venom, Kraven, Joker, The Crow, Thunderbolts. Don't think I didn't notice that white men were only allowed to be antiheroes this year.

Someone told me Sentry is in this film and I'm like... why?

I actually kind of like Sentry but I just know no one's going to use him right in CURRENT YEAR.

Wasn't she supposed to be a Young Avenger? Or am I mixing shit up again?

Thunderbolts looks like they're making it into a Marvel Suicide Squad - then again, in the books they've had iterations of the Thunderbolts that have been more like Marvel knock-offs of the modern Suicide Squad.
They did- the final, "Dark Avengers" iteration that killed the book for fucking good.

EDIT: a quick check of Wikipedia confirms that Zemo is no longer part of the team in the MCU.

As someone that read the original Thundetbolts run till around Jolt joins, what the fuck am I looking at? Because it definitely is not the Thunderbolts.
And it is sure as fuck ain't their predecessor the Freedom Force.

Him and Walker were the only 2 good things about FatWS. This doesn't have a chance.

Its an interesting line up but the movie will be made or broken by whoever the villain is.

We've come full circle.

In 2016, DC tried to emulate Marvel with their Suicide Squad movie by trying to make it like Guardians of the Galaxy. They tried doing this AGAIN in 2021 by hiring the same director as Guardians of the Galaxy. One movie was a critical failure, and one movie was perfectly fine, but ultimately a box office bomb.

Now Marvel is trying to emulate DC by turning the Thunderbolts into their own Suicide Squad movie. :story:

I assume its Sentry. like its odd to even have him on when so much of his backstory is sort of needed for him to work.

but the bad one, say what you will about Gunn's take, he at least understood with that name and premise we should have people dropping like flies. This and CA4 being more "grounded" feels like its not going to work well with MCU expectations. We still have so many threads left. The Eternals might as well have been in its own continuity.

Oh, the 2021 Suicide Squad movie was pretty good. I liked it just fine. It's a vast improvement over the 2016 movie in every conceivable way, at the very least.

The Thunderbolts trailer most certainly looked like the 2016 Suicide Squad ... But it's going to be less interesting than the 2016 Suicide Squad, lol. The 2016 Suicide Squad is one of the worst edited movies I have ever seen ... To the point where it's actually interesting to watch and to talk about. I imagine that the Thunderbolts is going to be one big snore. At least the 2016 Suicide Squad has interesting visuals and costume designing (people STILL dress like that version of Harley Quinn for Halloween, for example). We all know how bland Marvel movies look these days.

It helps that, according to David Ayer himself as well as a lot of the actors at least, the edit ruined and completely changed the film from how it was written and shot.

But I guess we'll always just have to take his word at that, since I hear WB is dead set on never releasing "his cut" and David Ayer has told everyone he doesn't care anymore.

i know Ayer can't/won't give us plot beats which is odd because thats sort of 99% of the thing people whine about when it comes to the film. but seeing his other films i have a hard time believing it still wouldn't be considered a shitty movie. Ayer just gave WB a much darker less fun movie, at least the cut we got was very trashy and fun in the way people sort of expected and wanted.

Yeah its obnoxious but there are way more "yo bros" types that buy tickets to this shit than not. Ayer's cut would still have all the flaws of this one only without even the fun either. it would be a rough slog like Megapolis.

I think they've admitted at this point that the plot is virtually the same, it's just that they cut a lot of background stuff at the start and they redid the ending fight.

So it makes me wonder how it was so "ruined" so much. It sucks we'll probably never know how true it is since I doubt James Gunn would want it to overshadow his shit.
