Based off this thread, my previous post on here on GotG 3 seems to have been accurate. How the new Avengers movie will do is going to interesting to see, considering that it's going to be all new characters that a lot of people don't care about,

I know Hollywood hates Chris Pratt because he refuses to stop going to church or something equally benign but it's mind blowing that they're just getting rid of him and not making him the Iron Man of the new Avengers.

He's the only remaining MCU actor with any sort of charisma or draw whatsoever.

I genuinely think after the Majors thing they are going to can it or rewrite it. You either recast or rewrite as the damage is done now and people are off the actor. They are going to get all the Spider-Men back but I don't think it will work. Marvel shot themselves by going so hard into normie culture but the problem is normies are fickle as fuck and will abandon when the thing is not even vogue.

Who the fuck at the watercooler is going to say "I want to see Avengers 5, it has Brie Larson and Sebastion Stan." Doctor Strange 2 only did well because it tied into No Way Home and even then pissed off fans because it did not really. They murdered their good faith in nerds by disrespecting the source material and they did the same by murdering the good actors.

It's called go woke, go broke for a reason, these mouth breathers just live on Twitter and Reddit all day but have conned investors into being a bigger pull than it is. The problem is it is so hard to course correct because Feige sucks ass and all their good writers have bailed. Merch sales are allegedly dreadful too meaning the product exists in theatres and because the home release is dead due to streaming, no income is made post-theatre.

Saw GotG vol.3 during the downtime and actually liked it a lot. It definitely needed edited down some and there was some lazy writing (the vacuum of space seems to only have an effect when the plot needs it to; H.E.'s power-level is all over the place) but overall it was good. High Evolutionary was decent and turned out a lot better than Kang.

I think my biggest problem with it was that they make a big deal out of Gamora and then proceed to do nothing with her. Having her not be in the film probably would've worked a lot better.

Guardians only made $118 million it's opening weekend.

It's okay though, the movie totally has good word of mouth guys.
To be a bit autistic for a moment, even if it was a billion dollar maker like it was projected, all it would have told executives is to continue to make more MCU movies. They wouldn't make the distinction that they need to be good, which TBF is always a crapshoot even with talented people giving their A game.

So just came back from Guardians 3, it's out in the UK already. I will be frank I walked out of this film.

I have now seen this film. Conclusion:

I actually went back and rewatched it via piracy because honestly its a film that does not need a cinema experience to justify. I was originally taken aback by the animal scenes, I admit I overreacted but if you need to play the puppy defence to mount feelings towards a character then I think it is not good. For example take Magneto in the X-Men films you just see the tattoo of Auschvitz and that is it except in 3 but 3 sucked ass and is not cannon. I will go down fighting though that the edit is rough as fuck and an hour from that movie could be cut. There are so many scenes that are bloated and just add time with nothing gained. The bio station could be completely cut out and honestly it would be a better film. The edit is really sloppy and honestly feels rushed in terms of production time because there are music bits inserted that do nothing. The death baiting can go fuck itself though, that is down to bad writing and if you need to bait to gain feeling or urgency then you have failed.

The last 50 minutes saves this movie though and I mean actually saves it from being sub-par. The action is great and well done but it needs more to be honest. I think the worst thing about this movie and why I regard it as just OK is it's miss-use of characters. Gamora, after this, honestly they should have kept her dead as Peter would have had a more interesting arc. I feel sorry for ZS because she is a great actress but she was grossly unused or not realised. Same goes with Drax too except for the last bit, he just exists. Mantis too just feels so weirdly used too like they lean into her a lot for humour but it does not land. Nebula, Rocket and the H.E are the stars of this film and at multiple times forget Pratt is there. He gets overshadowed by good actors it feels or maybe due to his filming commitments just feels absent. I really, really want to like this film but my inner-critic just does not like this film for it's inconsistencies BUT other than No Way Home it is the best film in ages.

No Way Home genuinely feels like a labour of love and whilst Holland is not a great actor, he is a great Spider-Man but Toby is still king. I don't dislike Garfield because he had what he had to deal with.

There are already rumours happened of Kang getting recast to the H.E actor which he should have been already the actor is way better.

not in cards yet but, trying not have people say obvious marvel comics subplot or xyz .
TLR: We are not failing yet to rehire or bring back Robert Downey Jr because he would take limelight from everyone else

This is part of the reason I'm hoping this movie ends up underperforming and the MCU dies for good in the near future, sure you can say I'm biased since I haven't enjoyed a single Guardians film, but if this makes over a billion, Disney execs will just say "See we still got it" and continiue pumping out retarded shit like SheHulk and Quantummania, and do you actual Marvel fans want that? one movie you enjoy sandwiched amongst shitty movies?

I would have gone to see this but them destroying the relationship between Gamora and Quill ruined it for me. And not only destroying it but doing so in a particularly cruel way. If they had killed Gamora as part of End Game I would have been annoyed and put it down to them trying raise the dramatic stakes, but that at least would have been something. Instead they undid everything Quill did to win Gamora over and to help her open up and become a better person who could care about someone. And stuck him with a painful reminder in a version of the woman he loves who doesn't even know him. It's unnecessarily vicious.

I'll watch tragedies sure. But I watch MCU, when I watch it, because I want something to distract and make me happy. I'm a romantic, it was the part of GotG 2 I enjoyed the most alongside Nebula's character development. And as I understand it, the moral is that Quill learns to give up on her and move on. I don't like that moral at all. If she were dead then moving on would be a tolerable moral. But that's not the case.

I just really don't like what they did.

So it seems the marvel curse of 3 lives on after skipping avengers 3 eh? Even if the movie itself is good it's fighting an uphill battle with people even the bug men getting tired of marvel movies. Well gotg3 you have my sympathy.

Oh for those who don't remember...or weren't there at this point yeechhh. The curse of 3 when it came to marvel was an unwritten rule that every marvel movie's third entry had to be terrible. especially of it followed an awesome second entry. You saw it with spider-man 3, blade trinity, x-men the last stand, even themcu suffered it with iron man 3.

There were some exceptions of course, some films only getting one bad sequel or reboot before going belly up, ghost rider spirt of Vengeance, punisher war zone, fantastic 4 rise of the silver surfer, amd incredible hulk. others didn't even last one movie before they ended up dead in the water. Fant4stic, daredevil, morbius.

Honestly, you make it sound less like a "curse of 3" and more like a "curse of flip a coin".

It is sad because as I said earlier if Guardians was out sooner it would have been much more successful. The cope and idiocy of pundits is wild with this one as they say it has a record hold since the pandemic. The reason why it has no competition, it's no save for Marvel though because they had to debase themselves from the start. They had had to release a product that was highly anticipated late because they fired the director because of Twitter. Which is fucking retarded btw, they cost themselves over a billion over a few Twitter posts. They release it in a lull but have to release it during a period of no releases and not in the wake of Mario. They cannot release it against Fast X or Transformers because they will pull in teens and families more so than Marvel.

Disney+ was a monkey paw for this company and people warned them about it. They flooded the market with shit product that is not even repeatable. They essentially made their product cringe which people do not want to see en mass. Their best bet is to tie stuff up and cease releasing for 5 years but they won't.
