So I was wondering why they had to CGI Shulkie's green skin instead of using green body paint. Green body paint's existed for 60 years at least. In fact, in Star Trek, they kept editing out the green skin on the Orion slave girl until they were told she was supposed to be green.

Then, it hit me.

Just about every production uses compositing, so if she did wear green paint, she'd blend into the background and it'd be too difficult to edit her back into the scene. Even if it's an office scene or a court scene, it'd still be green-screen because fuck mundane practical sets.
I love that story where the green chick kept coming back from the developer looking normal, and they kept greening her up more, until they eventually got a note back with the film to the effect of "bruh, what in the literal fuck is wrong with your camera this chick is all green and shit, do you know how hard we've had to work to get her looking normal"

So there's this Variety interview with the She-Hulk series' head writer (the ex-Rick & Morty writer) who says:

Why would you out yourself and others as totally uncreative brainlets? Also, there are several She-Hulk comics featuring her working legal cases published over the years they could have adapted, so what the fuck?
Why would you admit that
WHY WOULD YOU ADMIT THAT
YOU'RE WRITING A SHOW ABOUT A LAWYER!

Insanely embarassing.
You want to hear how it’s worse?

So in a show called “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, there’s very little attorney-ing because they can’t write courts scenes, and there’s very little She-Hulk because they couldn’t afford the effects.

They have officially 100% failed on the entire premise of the show and character.

They just had to hire a very tall body builder lady and paint her green, why are they so obsessed in making everything CGI? ☠️

I feel the show is gonna be 90% bad adaptation of sex and the city with ugly women, 5% lawyer stuff, 5% capeshit

Very tall body builder lady probably can't deliver the quips with just the right amount of smug self-satisfaction that Marvel require. Like it or not, there is a very strong correlation between the quantity of CG in a production and its revenue. Blame normies as they consistently eat this stuff up, even if only to moan about the CG.

Marvel want as much as it can be on green screen and CGI so they can change it, normally last minute which is why the CGI always looks shit. Marvel have no clear vision before making shit, just want it out on time because the can't delay or mess up their release schedule which already has too many projects on it.

It's kind of the same issue that happened with Kingpin during the 2003 Ben Affleck Daredevil film. However, at the time it was done for the sake of making the film kino, because all the Caucasian wrestlers they got couldn't act for shit, so they got a great actor with a matching physique for Kingpin, which MCD had to work a lot for to be accurate to comics, he even went as far as to say that he might decline playing Kingpin again unless weight-loss was factored in the story.

And guess what? He was the best, if not the only good part of that film. There's a reason no one ever uses this film as an example of the issues with black-washing, because this one of the rare good examples.

He even reprised his role in the MTV Spider-Man series.

Also, he loved being Kingpin.

However, that is not the case here with the MCU She-Hulk. They could've just done the Lou Ferrigno thing the classic Hulk show did & just deepfaked Maslany over it.

What's even worse is, the only one close to an actress who actually could've been great for this, is the one they cancelled last year. I'm not saying she would've been great, or that she's a good actress, but much better than what we got. Tatiana Maslany is both an uggo & a shit actress.

Michael Clark Duncan's Kingpin will always be great to me. Mainly cause you can tell he is having the time of his life playing the character and being an over the top comic book villain. Plus, like you said, no CGI for him. Dude was built like a fucking tank.

Disney acts like blue screen doesn't exist, unless Hollywood decided to just ditch it altogether.

The Mandalorian uses virtual sets, so nowadays with the fuck-off money Disney has, they don't even have to worry about locations & physical sets anymore.

Disney is lazy & knows it's consoomers enough to know that they're too big to fail. They can just put shit in a CGI workshop & make 75% of their show with no quality control whatsoever & the shills of the rodent will eat it all up.

So the first epsiode was an experience to say the least.

I just find it funny now that MCU is not even explaining the villains first. As Titana just appears at the end with no explanation. Guess they really are accepting their comic book aspect there

She-Hulk's first episode is probably the weakest premiere for an MCU show to date. It already had a tough act following Ms.Marvel (which had arguably the best premiere), but the actual episode itself was just...OK. Nothing really stood out, none of the jokes made me laugh and the CGI was borderline uncanny at times. The most interesting parts came from Bruce talking about his progress post-endgame.

I just remembered that it released today.

Same Bruce was the only thing I find entertaining and just revealing the villain like that at the end. Feels so weird since the other shows kind of build up their main villains.

Hopefully next epsiode is better
