Hey, I know this thread is for the MCU, but does anyone remember The Spectacular Spider-Man? Damn good show, not just for kids but enjoyable for adults, too. A real shining example of animated adaptations of Superheroes. It got cancelled after 2 seasons because Disney bought Marvel out and Sony wanted to keep the movie rights so...bye bye, television rights. Would have went on for another 3 seasons with a sequel series and some movies and just more of what you would want, really. Just a reminder of how things could have been without Disney bringing us to our slow death, here. Continue to despair.
As someone who liked that show as a kid, when I look back at it, it's got an absurd amount of teen drama & romance, & some episodes just straight-up agonized me at the supposed good characters. It being cancelled doesn't help either. I did love the Sandman episodes a lot, probably cause they were somewhat based on Raimiverse.

If I have to be honest, even the Iron Man: Armored Adventures felt like better Spider-Man show than SSM. I might even prefer the Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man (not based on the comics of same name) over it. It had a better artstyle & lacked most of the teen-drama for different arcs. Also, it has Aya "My beloved" Ayala.

To be fair to SSM, Spider-Man has been 50% super-heroing and 50% soap opera since the Lee & Ditko days. Lots of pages spent on Peter being angsty over girl problems, going on dates, and hanging out with his friends.

Meh, I still think the MCU was great till endgame.
I still think that if Disney were to have ended the MCU there, they could’ve probably made bank by releasing “The Infinity Saga” as a box set like, once a decade.

As is, my current opinion of the MCU post Endgame - barring No Way Home - is the same as with Death Note, in that I don’t know why people keep insisting there’s a second half to that series…

Endgame was inferior to Infinity War but still had good stuff. It was definitely a lot of fan service stuff, but I think they were really well done for the most part.

Honestly the only thing post-endgame I could really get invested in is really just Spider-Man.

Like the only other ones that could maybe be interesting would be Dr. Strange (if Sam Raimi has more control in the next film and wrote the story compared to Multiverse of Madness) and Guardians of the Galaxy if James Gunn doesn't take the retard route like Taika Waititi (I refuse to watch Love and Thunder cause it sounds like a joke, and no amount of a great Christian Bale performance would persuade me, I'd just watch American Psycho again)

Shang-chi is probably the one new superhero thing introduced that could be interesting unless the director doubles down on the shit CG for it's inevitable sequel.

Everything else I really can't give a shit about unless it proves to actually be good and not just from the mindset of the clapping seels that Marvel focuses on.

Endgame was a movie about paying off as much as they could with everything they had set up. With IW they had done a great job at setting the stage, the stakes and the emotional stakes so they could sort of get away with all of the dumb stuff they did. IW did all the heavy lifting in that regard.

There were some cool moments on Endgame, Ronin, everyone coping with the snap and Rocket developing a relationship with Earth were all great ideas that I wish we could see more of. But generally one can look through all those faults because of all the payoffs it handles in a more than adequate way. I can excuse the rat moment because, again, it was in service of getting it all done and 5 years is enough time for some dumb shit to happen that could kick events into gear.

While there is no point to discussing it, I would've loved if BW was set in the timeskip and could've shown how Natasha got to where she was in Endgame, instead of the idiotic placement they chose. Hell a War Machine series or movie during that time frame would be great. There you have a good black guy to make a great story.

"I just wanted my big score" in that Benderesque voice tickles me

I really like spectacular, Greg Weisman is a retard but he can write well on a leash

i would've liked to see a season or two more, but I'll be honest Greg's plan of five seasons and four movies seems like he was overindulging in his autistic plans. i feel like you could easily do peter's high school days in four seasons and then a season of college. or even the third season wrapping up high school, a season of college and a season of adult years. I love the Peter and Mary Jane relationship and having them flesh out a Conwayesque MJ for the first time on TV would've been great

It would've been cool to see Mayday in one of these adaptions, but I personally think that there's rights issues that prevent those characters from being used since she's so reliant on X-Men and Avengers and F4 to fill out her supporting cast. She's also mostly been a cult thing but the rights thing is probably the biggest hurdle

I still don’t know who Megan The Stallion is or why I should care.

Exactly, and that's the appeal, the core of why Spider-Man got so big, especially at the time. It wasn't your usual super hero, and people even before AM#15 was being printed told Stan Lee why it wouldn't work; but guess who created a worldwide icon with those ideas that "wouldn't work". The balance is something I feel has been lost in the past 30 years, though. Certain people thinking that balance apparently wasn't why it worked. Looking at you, Joe Quesada. Peter shouldn't be stuck in a Bugle rut, but he shouldn't be Iron Man Lite, either. It just seems no one really wants that for the webhead, though. Least not in a LONG time...unless you're the Insomniac version, in which case you're allowed to actually develop.

I got to say it, Tatiana Maslanys hair looks like a rats nest and makes her go from plain to ugly hobo woman.

I'm confused... Isn't a stallion a male horse?
In the south they used to call tall and voluptuous women 'stallions'.

As far as She-Hulk goes it's......fine?
It's not outright terrible but every episode feels rushed as shit, the idea of pacing is out the window.
Jen isn't buff enough. Disney are cowards.

Goddammit. Why can’t things just end? Logan was the perfect sendoff for Hugh Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine, but now, if this movie ends up sucking, that could end up being undone.
So it will stay consistent with Patrick Stewart coming back as Professor X in Doctor Strange 2.

Well, this can't be good:
