well as long the dogs are safe idgaf if this is a publicity stunt or not. dying in the lava or in it's toxic fumes is a really nasty way to die, hope they go out safely.
Yes, obviously we all hope they can save the doggos. :heart-full:

The rescue team has successfully made a 1200 meter flight supporting a load of 15 kg (approx. 33 lbs). They will try to start the rescue this afternoon. (Source)

The situation is tense! GET READY!! Do not wait. M4.8 earthquake. Lava is in the urban area. Breaking from Bushcraft Bear, stuff is looking pretty bad and there was just a 4.8M earthquake.
That new earthquake has been felt even in the north of Tenerife island. (Source)

5th vent opened up at 20:00 local last night. It is located between the main cone and the 4th vent
Night time view of the same new vent

I came in here excited 'cause my brother mentioned some volcano fucking exploded some hours ago, and I was like "Wait, La Palma exploded? We gonna get tsunamis now? Shit, I need to stop putting this thread off and check every day!" But no, it was Mount Aso in Japan that erupted, and I went "Dammit, boy". But it's still pretty interesting to hear of all these volcanoes going off ever since La Palma did.

Anyhoo been lurking in-and-out of this thread since last month, this is pretty neat. Mother Earth must be pretty pissed if she's been blowing her top off in various places lately.

Dogs possibly dead? EDIT: Another article

I don't know, unless these are strays, I can't picture a pet owner leaving their pet behind in this situation. Under no circumstance could I perform the mental calculus necessary for me to feel 'justified' leaving my cat behind to die in such a slow and agonizing way.
Probably not strays, but rather feral or semi-wild. The Canaries are named for the huge population of wild dogs that live on the islands. Canariae Insulae. Islands of the Dogs.

More likely working dogs..

You know a dog watches and protects a flock of sheep or chickens with absolute unwavering dedication.

Even when the flock leaves the dog continues the routine as if the sheep will return...

Dogs truly are our best friends

If you have a doggo...watch this video and Give your doggo a treat tonight

Without them mass cattle and sheep farming would be difficult. They only do this stuff for us....because they sense we value the herd

Officially the lava plumes are reaching 2700ft..

Twice as high as the tallest building in the world. This vent is growing at an incredible speed. .im concered the cone may be twice this size on thanksgiving...the cone collapsing at some point seems inevitable but we watch

I was really hoping to check this thread after work and read that they had saved the dogs, not that they died before they could even be rescued. RIP dogs :(

TIL herds of sheep behave as a fluid.

There is a building taller than that.

Still impressive though.

The dogs gently nip at them keeping them inline. The dogs have no issue sacrificing themselves should a predator come.

Its just what they do

Yeah i read it was higher than a tower in dubai...which was a world record

Everything is organized if you zoom to the right level. Also has anyone considered using herds as 2D fluid dynamics simulators? Or the other way adound? Use a fluid flow modeler to simulated herd dynamics.

The Burj Khalifa is 2717ft, so with am estimate of 2700 feet on the plume I'd say it can go either way.
