So like, what exactly needs to happen for a third of the island to make a big plop into the sea?

From my understanding, which is arguably limited, a lot of earhquakes.

But even without it, it is a local happening to the island as the volcano fucks up everything on it.

What a chad. This guy is literally out there in the volcano still holding it out to give us new updates and videos while himself and everything is just turning to shit.
Those around here who are old enough and lived in the upper Northwest corner of the US or adjacent parts of Canada in 1980 may remember just how awful the Mt. St. Helens erruption was in basic quality of life issues. How everything tasted of volcano. You couldn't escape. Food, Toothpaste even the beer carried a sulfuric ash taste. The dust was everywhere. That's the sort of thing that starts to wear you down quickly.

And that sounds terrifying, but yet still with all that, Bushcraft still manages to pull through and honestly, he has a way more worse experience living on a goddamn island, having sulfuric acid in the air and earthquakes every other day and through all that, he still keeps his viewers informed and updated. He is a genuine sweetheart and I would go as far to say he deserves the world in my opinion.

Bushcraft Bear’s nightly report. More Lava with another stream about to hit the ocean. They are expecting more evac orders from the Sulfuric Acid clouds when the Lava hits seawater. He also seems concerned it will endanger the harbor

I tuned in today right when some heathen chucked a ring into the volcano. Checking it when the sun goes down helps get a sense of scale, and it seemed like they were playing with lens settings towards nightfall.

He has it worse because of the ongoing nature of this insanely large Strombolian type eruption. Most of the bad volcanic eruptions in our lifetimes were either mainly 1 and done's like Mt St Helen's or Mt Pinatubo, which had some build up and discharge, and then kaboom. But this non stop escalating feeling of creeping doom has got to be exhausting. Non stop earthquakes. Daily worsening air quality. That looming growing mountain hovering over them spitting out more and more lava. It's got to be driving everybody mad.

Finally we get drone confirmation of second vent...which is 1km southeast of existing vent...watch towards the end of video

What are the odds the entire island is a write-off, like Montserrat?

I wondered if it was gonna be that sort of eruption myself. The history of volcanic activity on the island suggests that is unlikely. Short violent sporadic burst are the rule on La Palma

Nil. Well unless a massive shear calves the island in two. Wrong type of volcano. Wrong type of lava. I mean short of the volcano simply painting over the entire island in slow motion lava flows, which would probably take years, and is well outside the realm of probability. You're not going to get the massive explosive events and pyroclastic flows that Montserrat had. Air quality may eventually deteriorate to the point where La Palma sees a massive population loss, at least temporarily.

Was it expected that the sites of the earthquakes are for the most part moving down south of the central volcano itself?

so can we say with certainty that no mega tsunamis are happening?
when will it get to the point that this thread doesnt need to exist?

Bushcraft Bear isn't looking so good. Maybe we need to drop somebody off at the island to sub in for a while.

I nominate Frankie MacDonald.

J.P. Dice could even fly himself there and at least pilot his drone for extra footage, if they don't let him orbit & report on the it like an Alabama supercell storm. The best part would be him trying to pronounce all the place names. Though he's a free agent now, JP quit reporting on the weather to fly in it instead.
