The YouTube videos from the AI music guy are back, but the community tab isn’t (nor are the playlists). From what I remember it wasn’t as negative as he tries to make it seem.

The community post about making normie slop in addition to the lolcow stuff had, from what I remember, people that were understanding and were ok with a slower upload rate. Even if someone were to seethe, why not just ignore them? As long as you have someone watching and liking it.

The last post where he said he quit, had people calling him unstable and said they found the constant back and forth exhausting. But at that point he had already quit.

$10k is a perfectly reasonable number for the cost of all the videos. People underestimate how completely fucking useless AI generation is most of the time - the majority of takes have glaring errors and make ridiculous mistakes, so you have to keep shelling out to get another try. Randomness is baked into how they function, and so the same prompt can yield many different results, through which you sift to find the one that actually works.

You can wind up needing hundreds to thousands of takes to even have enough usable material to cobble something together in editing - there's a reason AI-generated video is a fucking useless distraction with zero actual market demand or use that exclusively fools literal retards. The people who post those immaculate ones on Sora or whatever have spent thousands upon thousands to try to generate the absolute-perfect image possible, hoping to make it back in attention and ad revenue.

That's where I think the answer slots in. This guy probably got addicted to the attention and to the gambling aspect of creating these videos ('will this one generate something useable?'), probably dumped the costs onto credit cards (it defers the 'shock' of spending the money) and has multiple-times tried to pull away from an addictive habit, only to return to it. He also probably figured this could be parlayed into some means to mildly-recoup the cost, and the reality is that neither attention, ad revenue, nor donations can make up for how expensive it is to make even just one of those things. The whole deletions-archiving-undeletion-unarchiving is addict behavior imo
