I see things like this https://www.wvpe.org/wvpe-news/2025...-charges-refiled-in-jayco-rv-cat-cruelty-case where 3 people were just let go by a prosecutor who cut off a cats paw, suffer them into a box, taped it up then put them into a trash compactor and lets them walk away unscathed. Is it just because animals are not people that they feel like they aren't owed any decency? I mean i know its Indiana, but come on, this stuff happens everywhere and no one cares. We lobby for change and almost nothing ever happens. Is it over for our animal bros?

The law sees animals less as actual living things and more as objects or property.
Plus people who have brutally murdered fellow humans often get away with it too, there are always stories of little kids getting only a couple years in prison after brutalizing babies.
The animal abusers also abuse kids, just look at the monkey torture. It just seems like one big vicious cycle of them

We live under a system of anarcho-tyranny where the legal and justice system serves to benefit absolutely no one. Most of these prosecutors, DAs, and judges are scum of the fucking earth and deserve to be flayed alive with a laser.

This should have been open and shut. One of the plaintiffs waived their Miranda and ADMITTED TO DOING IT.

People can never have actual discussions because of nonsense disregard like that

you literally are trying to stir up some emotions because its about poor animals, and the article made it pretty clear its legal. yes its disgusting, but to create this thread to cry about killed animals is unneccessary. politics and the legal system arent existing to help you.

This seems disingenuous, animals are probably more respected and better cared for than at any point in human history. I suppose you could argue that the scale of the suffering in agriculture is so massive that collectively it's awful. Is there room for improvement? Of course. But it's pretty established that we don't want to use animals for testing, people pay a premium to know their meat was treated better, and even if it's legal, hurting animals is an awful thing for your reputation. We're even seeing good efforts in population control of invasive species to protect less thought of species like wild birds. Change absolutely has happened, and likely will continue to happen.
