Pssst…hey flyover white boy, I’m a military recruiter. I’ve got for you the opportunity of a lifetime.

How would you like to see the Ukraine this time of year?

Maybe Iran?

Ever wonder what it’s like to be beheaded? Not in Afghanistan, but by fellow soldiers right at home on Fort Bragg!

The benefits of joining the armed forces are vast. Once you sign that dotted line, you give up your First Amendment rights to an Affirmative Action general who reserves the right to watch your social media for any patriotic sentiment or pride in your (and only your) race.

Accidentally follow your conscience? Stand up for your values? Get court martialed and live your life as a felon. And if there’s a war, you’re in luck. When you die the man watching every breath you take for “hate speech” will enjoy a bump to his weapons contractor stocks.

You might be from West Virginia or Wisconsin, but you will have the privilege of being told you are privileged by the same wonderful, well-credentialed and brilliant wealthy Manhattan Jews who make all of your country’s foreign policy decisions.

Did you like the gay innuendo in Top Gun? We will pay for your sex change and then promote you in rank for your courage!

But the best part? You might not even have to leave home for long. Remember when you played soldier with the other kids in your little farm town? Now you’ll get to play for real when we order you to shoot at the people you grew up with for holding the beliefs you share.

Sure, Washington oversees an empire that hates you for your race, but think of the upside. Who is going to protect the morbidly obese incoherent Crayon box of people and cultures while they sit at home and game? Who is going to defend the illegal aliens pouring over the border and state-backed black criminals? How are the bankers and plutocrats going to buy their daughter a party house in Boca if there’s nobody to defend their profits?

Who but YOU is going to defend a status quo that openly discriminates against you in every facet of life for who you are?

Do the patriotic thing and get on your knees, cracker.

This is why I was never cut out for the military. If my commanding officer told me to do something like this, and there is literally no good reason for it, I would have told him to shove that heel up his ass, sit, and spin.
You can totally do stuff like that you just won't make sergeant and your battle buddies won't acknowledge you.

I think you can refuse to wear unauthorized uniform components. AR 670-1 is signed by the Chief of Staff of the Army, and a ROTC instructor doesn't outrank the CSA. But you should probably use more politic language.

Here's the problem for these ROTC cadets. The cadre who made them wear those shoes has the power over their commissions and first duty assignments. Went through ROTC myself, can understand. But others, who were not cadets, apparently raised hell about it. Wonder what the cadre would have thought if one or more male cadets, unused to wearing high heels, had fallen, been injured, and as a result was no longer physically qualified for a commission. Can you spell "Congressional complaint" and "Federal lawsuit"? Fuck that cadre; no leadership there at all.

Re something else...no idea who Dave Reaboi is, but he's got it right.

I'll let you read the book. The illustrations are really cute. To give you some examples of people who broke their NDAs, Robert Hanssen has been entombed alive in ADX Florence for decades. He is slowly losing his mind. That's not speculation, a psychologist who interviewed him said this. Jonathan Pollard spent 30 years in prison before receiving parole, and is now living comfortably in Our Greatest Ally's capital city. Less serious cases have also resulted in prison time. Reality Winner got just over five years for leaking a classified report about Muh Russian Meddling. She was smart enough to speak four languages but stupid enough to speak to the FBI. (If you've never been interrogated, that's a great read.)

On the other end of the spectrum, Bradley Manning spent a few years in the disciplinary barracks receiving free sex change treatment, so things really worked out for him.
She's trending on twitter now

Yeah, I couldn't join because I'd have beat the crap out of the drill sargeant for getting in my face.

It's their job. At least initially, nothing personal. The instructors have the tough task of turning civilians into soldiers/sailors/airmen/Marines/Coast Guardsmen in a relatively short period of time. They need to know how people function under stress, because there are many times a military member must function in very stressful situations.

The recruit goes through basic training once. The instructor goes through basic training every X number of weeks, for several years. Get one group graduated, here comes a new group.

It was a joke, my dude. That's why I worded it that way because that's how I've always heard it been told.

Do they still do drafts?
Registration for draft is still mandatory, but after Vietnam the left and right realized the best way to neuter any future antiwar movement was to remove the middle class's proverbial skin in the game by making military service voluntary not mandatory, with national guardsmen picking up the slack. This way, as in the case of Afghanistan and Iraq, the middle class and even the lower class could take comfort in knowing their kids will never be drafted to fight in unpopular wars and that anyone who died or got injured or maimed "was asking for it" since no one made them sign up. Or if you LIKE being a soldier, you stay in for 20 years to get a golden pension when you retire, travel on the government's dime, play with guns, and if you are lucky, maybe even get to kill people.

Also, I should note that in times of recession and depressions, military service is always shilled as a way for young men to "make a living" in so far as "guaranteed job" and money/benefits. You eat the shit forced on you while you serve and get "free college" and benies out the ass when you leave, especially if your job in the military is something that can help you get a good paying civilian job.
