Much like the "anti-vaccine memes" that was prevalent a few years ago, the hatred against Flat-Earthers are a bit weird to me. You have these group of people who believe in something objectively wrong (not counting vaccines) (and as far as I know, haven't spread and promoted themselves across the internet) then you have these other groups of people seething and frothing at the mouth saying how dumb and stupid they are and then proceed to post memes about how dumb and stupid they are, en masse.

So that leads me to wonder if this is all a conducted pysop to discredit conspiracy theorists to the general public. Is it likey? Have I been living under a rock when more of these "flat-earthers" were around? Or is this just another shitty zoomer meme that got forced to hell and back?

Yes and no. No in that I think it originally started out as a silly joke that inevitably attracted a handful of true believers, but yes in the sense that progressives and establishment liberal types have absolutely seized upon it as a cudgel to beat their enemies with. "You don't blindly trust everything we say? Wow, you're just like those flat earthers!". It probably didn't start out as a PsyOp but it has definitely become one.

That said, it's funny when they take it all super seriously and make "flat earth arguments debunked!" videos, as if knowing the Earth isn't fucking flat is some sort of achievement to pat yourself on the back for.

Most flat earthers are uneducated niggers who doubt anything YT media tells them so no, I do not believe it was a psyop. Flat earthers really are that stupid.
The question's not if Flat Earthers exist, of course they do and of course they're probably that dense, but if there was enough of them around to warrant the large resentment that occured throughout the last few years. Otherwise, it just seems weird and artificially manufactored in some way.

Flat earth is the psyop.
yeh
it's not a movement, it's a magnet designed to attract a minute population of sacrificial hyper-retards so they can be used a well poisoner for other shit

the other half of the equation are the NPCs programmed to swallow "the people who X are the same people who Y" formulations reflexively.
there doesn't need to be a lot of earthers if there's fucking millions of redditors

It's not hatred, it's mockery.
The Flat Earth hypothesis is retarded and should be ridiculed.
I've actually met people who treat this shit seriously and it's worrying that they can breed and vote.
They try to mask their retardation by going: "You just believe what THEY tell you, I'm smarter than you, I think for myself".
Um... that's cute but, whenever I ask these people for details, it turns out they don't know fuck about shit.
They're just as ignorant as the imaginary people they claim to be smarter than.
They'll watch some dumb """documentary""" on Youtube and will refuse to do any additional reading from unaffiliated sources, they won't open a science book, they'll just blindly believe it.

You don't even need to ask about science, just logic.
My favorite one is: "Since the Earth is flat, who is covering it up and why? What's the end goal here when you have to spend countless resources and make sure that tens of thousands of people are in on the conspiracy but never break the silence?"
When you keep asking these kinds of questions and keep poking at the plot holes in their reasoning then eventually, they will bring up The Bible, The Quran or some other religious nonsense.
It's the devil trying to fool us or some shit.
Every single fucking time.

I get not wanting to follow the status quo blindly but let's not make excuses for stupid shit.

The one exception to this I'm going to give is the guy who built his own rocket because he wanted to go up far enough to see there was no curvature of earth. He was roundly mocked on social media when he...well he blew himself up on the launch pad. To me though, he was a true pioneer. The world needs people who will try this, he hadn't just watched a YouTube video and believed it. He wanted to empirically prove it, and lost his life doing so. He was a true scientist. If there were more people like him, the current replication crisis wouldn't exist.

I always figured it was. I never heard about anything Flat Earth related except for in historical contexts, and then one day out of the blue, I start seeing weird hatred for them, like they're some enormous problem. I think this was around 2014-2015.
