I noticed the similarity and actually thought it was the same picture, but now you point it out there are some differences between the two. Maybe he thought that tie-dyed blanket was really flattering to his complexion or something.Say, that shot on the cover's really similar to this one (forgive the arrows, I added those for another post):

Maybe he took two shots in that position?
We can never be sure of anything with Sweet Bro. Much like trying to gauge the intelligence of animals, we can make only the broadest of guesses as to his intentions or thought processes.Um .... are we sure that's a tail?
And yeah, for whatever reason, Jon is always drawing that dog with one of his hind legs pointing out and lying flat on the ground. At least this time it looks like a leg. That left leg, though, geeez ....
I think his dog drawings stick out to me in particular because I drew pretty much nothing but cartoon dogs between the ages of 10 and 15, and taught myself to do so solely by mimicking Disney art. Not saying that's the proper way to go about teaching oneself how to draw, but it's really not that hard to get the very basic shapes down and see how they all fit together to make a recognizable caricature of an animal, as opposed to Jon's visual abortions.
