To be fair, this is not a uniquely Japanese problem. My personal reason for hating anime is that any series I try to get into always has a shit ending so it made me completely drop the genre.

Watching soap operas for old fat soccerdads like Sopranos or Breaking Bad is infinitely worse than hating even the trashiest of seasonal anime.only reason you need to hate anime

Nah you sound like a dude who recognizes quality. Anime in the 80s and 90s was better than anime now.Im the "I was born in the wrong generation" of anime. Do I count? I hate modern weebtrash but 80s and 90s weebtrash are peak kino. Honneamize, akira, memories, nadia, evangelion, angel cop *mwah*.
Older anime, I'd say probably right up until 2010 or so, had a much wider variety of voice acting and less 'rules' about what 'an anime voice' should sound like as well. When I was younger I preferred English dubs because my reading wasn't as good, but as an adult I'll 99% of the time prefer subs.
You watch a retro anime and the voice actors are bringing their own kind of style and naturality to the roles, sometimes at the expense of the original script, but at least it isn't totally fucking cringe.
OG EVA dub and the Sonic OVA movie dub are ones where I think the voices mostly fit the characters' personalities really well. Robotnik had enough of an impact that you now have a guy who got popular making meme videos where he does an impersonation of that specific voice (and even got invited to several sega press events due to it!)I miss all the old 80s/90s and even some of the 00s dubs. Now normalfags pretend that they prefer the subs as if they were original nerds/geeks/otaku.
Don't dub haters want the dub actors to sound familiar to the japanese cause they can't handle dub va's sounding 30% more different to the sub?Older anime, I'd say probably right up until 2010 or so, had a much wider variety of voice acting and less 'rules' about what 'an anime voice' should sound like as well.

You watch a modern dub and you can clearly tell they're all using the same intonation, inflections, making the obnoxious sound-filling "anime grunt" noise. It's fucking annoying and makes every performance sound the same, even when they aren't using the same six VAs over and over.
Late, but there absolutely is. I remember watching Lucky Star as a young teen the blue haired MC was playing a perverted game, trying to pull the swimsuit/under wear off the woman in said game. There's no sexual content in Lucky Star.

This is, again, not unique to niptoons. The otaku/weeaboo crowd are definitely the most culpable but they're far from the only type of fan that's ruined their own favored medium.Anime fans really ruin everything. They don't care about the storytelling. They only care about their waifus and who/what makes them coom and that has actively affected the industry.
Not liking something sounding too off from the original is something of a common criticism that applies to pretty much dubbed media from any country, and t goes both ways. Some western stuff flopped in japan due to them not liking the voiceover the last few years from what remember.Don't dub haters want the dub actors to sound familiar to the japanese cause they can't handle dub va's sounding 30% more different to the sub?
Isn't one of that characters traits that they're a bit of a creep at times? I mean aside from the main one of them being an overall turbosperg about shit?I remember watching Lucky Star as a young teen the blue haired MC was playing a perverted game, trying to pull the swimsuit/under wear off the woman in said game.
I never really got into Lucky Star but I've seen a few episodes. I always figured Konata's (I think that's her name) gimmick was that she was a stereotypical otaku, only as a cutesy schoolgirl instead of an out-of-shape Japanese man. An otaku gijinka, if you will.Isn't one of that characters traits that they're a bit of a creep at times? I mean aside from the main one of them being an overall turbosperg about shit?
I mean there are female otaku too, in japan otaku literally is just "nerd" type so I wouldn't call it a "gijinka" or whatever. Sure but I meant in that she was like a male otaku portrayed as a female character.I mean there are female otaku too, in japan otaku literally is just "nerd" type so I wouldn't call it a "gijinka" or whatever. Just "a fucking sperg"
She was literally called a fujo in one of the bios I remember glancing over many moons ago when someone compared me to the character back in the day.Sure but I meant in that she was like a male otaku portrayed as a female character.
Though now that I think about it fujos aren't far off from that...
