she’s considering another presidential run, telling a New York City audience on Friday that she would be well suited to the office.

During a far-ranging interview with Kara Swisher of the technology website Recode(Ms. Swisher is also a contributor to The Times’s Opinion section), Mrs. Clinton initially said “no” when asked whether she wanted to run for president again. She then paused and repeated “no.”

But after Ms. Swisher noted the slight hesitation, Mrs. Clinton seemed to reconsider her response, saying that a major task of the next Democratic president will be improving the international standing of the United States.

“Well, I’d like to be president,” she said, during the public taping at the 92nd Street Y of Ms. Swisher’s podcast. "The work would be work that I feel very well prepared for having been at the Senate for eight years, having been a diplomat in the State Department, and it’s just going to be a lot of heavy lifting.”

Mrs. Clinton has become a more visible presence in recent weeks, increasing the number of her public appearances and raising money for Democrats across the country. Last week, she spoke at a fund-raiser for Donna Shalala, a former Clinton administration official, who is running for a House seat in Florida.

“She will always be a winner and I’ll always be with her,” said Ms. Shalala, introducing Mrs. Clinton to a room full of 200 Democratic donors in Miami.

Mrs. Clinton said she wouldn’t consider a possible run in 2020 until after the midterm elections next week.

“I’m not even going to even think about it until we get through this Nov. 6 election,” she said. “But I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure we have a Democrat in the White House come January of 2021.”

Should she mount a third presidential bid, Mrs. Clinton would be entering a Democratic field crowded with potential contenders, a major shift from 2016, when nearly no Democrats were eager to challenge her.

Mrs. Clinton said she expects a crowded field of as many as 20 Democrats.

“I think we’d have a number of excellent candidates who would be really formidable on the campaign trail, but let’s wait and see who it is,” she said. "I’m just going to wait and watch what happens.”

Mrs. Clinton dismissed some of the calls for her to retreat from public life as sexist.

“There were no articles telling Al Gore to go away or John Kerry to go away or John McCain or Mitt Romney to go away,” she said. “Mitt Romney is going to the Senate, that’s where he’s going.”

So who will the Democrats champion in 2020 then? Right now, they're as indecisive and unclear in direction as ever and if they don't find someone good enough to unite their complete mess, you might as well concede 2020 to Trump.
Not that it would be a bad thing; TDS Oversalt Edition will be interesting to see if that comes to be.

At this point it's way too early to tell. They have another 8 months of pregaming exceptional things to say before they really start getting dirty fighting each other. Kamala is probably the front runner, but we'll see. It's going to be a good ride though.

Eternal reminder that Clinton campaign strategy was to boost Trump during the Republican primaries on the assumption that he'd be an easy victory.

HIllary is one of the most self centered and idiotic people to ever live, and yes I'm counting every other politician in this. She makes 99% of them look like amateur hour.

She was also so convinced, based on nothing, not even her own internal polls, that she was going to win the Electoral College that she decided to dump her sizable war chest into driving up the popular vote in states like New York and California fearing she might lose the popular vote.

Meanwhile her campaign in states Obama had won easily were practically begging her to make personal appearances and put resources there, states she went on to lose. She had contempt for these states and the people in them and didn't even try to conceal it, and they didn't vote for her, states that had gone Obama at least in 2008 and many in 2012 too.

She had easily the most bungled, incompetent campaign and, at the same time, literally the most expensive in presidential campaign history.

Watching this old bag run again would make my day.

Take a drink for every time she plays on identity politics to get a leg up on other idiots in her own party.

Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and first lady who lost the White House to Donald J. Trump in 2016, said officially on Monday what has been unofficially clear for months: She is not running for president again in 2020.
“I’m not running,” Mrs. Clinton told a New York City television station, News 12. “But I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe.”
Mrs. Clinton, the first woman to win a major-party nomination for president, remains a complicated figure for the Democratic Party as both a trailblazing female leader and also the candidate who was defeated by Mr. Trump.
Ahead of the 2020 election, she has been holding private meetings with many of the current and potential presidential candidates, including Senator Kamala Harris and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., as they sought counsel from her even before she formally ruled out another run.
[Who’s in, who’s out and who’s thinking about it. Check out our presidential candidate tracker.]
Four female senators — Ms. Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren — and one congresswoman, Tulsi Gabbard, have already jumped into the Democratic primary campaign. The glut of female candidates is widely seen as an outgrowth of Mrs. Clinton’s own nomination in 2016.
Mrs. Clinton, 71, is still younger than some Democratic candidates who are either running (such as Senator Bernie Sanders, who is 77) or considering runs (Mr. Biden, 76, and the former New York City mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, 77). But many in the crowded field of more than a dozen candidates are already pushing to install a younger generation of leadership for the party.
In the television interview, Mrs. Clinton signaled that she planned to remain a presence on the political scene.

“I want to be sure that people understand I’m going to keep speaking out,” she said. “I’m not going anywhere.”

But she laughed off the idea of running for any other political office, such as New York governor or mayor, in the future. “Oh, I don’t think so,” she said.

Thank GodBear and the flying spaghetti monster! Or would the 2020 dumpster fire be better with her?

Oh goddamn it...I was genuinely praying for her to run again because jesus fuck it would have been the most hilarious thing imaginable

Honestly I'm going to wait and see what happens. Just because Shillary says she isn't going to run doesn't mean she won't do something like change her mind at the last second and throw her hat into the ring.

I'm honestly shocked she isn't.

I thought she was gonna play the angle of some autistic Rudy who has a body count coming out and finally stopping Drumpf like calling out Rambo to save the world after he goes in the woods for a peaceful life.

Now it's 100% my vote is going to YEB.

I can't wait for her to announce she's running after all. She'll probably claim that the Russians hijacked the signal from her control room and forced her to say she wasn't.

Pretty sure she knows this one's a lost cause and will be running again in 2024 when the party's less insane

You say that like she's not at the leading edge of the insanity.

I was really hoping she'd try to run again, because watching her lose is always fun. Really hype to watch the morons they are running tear each other apart though.
