Fucking hell. Woke up with a sore throat the other morning which went away quickly. I just assumed it was an allergy thing, especially since I slept with my window open. Last night I ended up getting some of the WORST fever/chills combos I've had. It was a cooler night and I ended up sleeping under two comforters, a knit blanket, and wearing a sweater. My fever broke in a spectacular display of "I'm too hot! Now I'm cold! I'm too hot! Now I'm freezing! Is this my life now!? KILL ME" at 3 AM.

So damn near after an entire day spent sleeping the body aches are mercifully gone. Not the way I wanted to start my long weekend :(

I just recently ordered a new PC (technically new parts so I can build one) so that's going to be good.

Just moved into a friend's rental house. He's letting me and my fiancée live there rent-free in exchange for help with remodeling. I've learned a lot of new skills so far and having a lot fun with it. Is it weird that I get a sort of zen feeling when I'm painting walls?

I fucking hate painting walls and I'm absolutely jealous that it brings you peace.

Maybe I'm still traumatized by painting my walls a deep red 10 years ago during a hot summer. Goddamn paint needed 4 coats before it looked solid.

I'm not entirely sure how much Ortho needs to be sprayed outside and then inside a house to keep ants from getting in, but judging by how much lighter it is now, I think I got enough. The advantages of rural living! Nature is right outside!

And it wants to get in.

Ugh, ants fucking blow. Few years back some houses got demolished where I live (slide area) which disturbed all the ant nests in the neighborhood. That was a shitty summer.

If you need bait traps for the inside of your house I recommend these: http://www.terro.com/terro-liquid-ant-baits-2-pack

They'll take the bait back to the colony and that can help too. Plus you get to see all the dead ants floating inside! If you have pets/kids/don't like traditional ant poison they're a good option since the active ingredient is borax.

I have issues with spray Raid and ended up finding some different ant spray that uses essential oils or something like that. Smells like cinnamon which I can't stand but beats having my nose become a blood faucet!

I'm going to be doing some voice recordings tomorrow. I'm getting the opportunity to work with the person who's pretty much responsible for getting me into PC gaming, and I'm super fucking jazzed, not gonna lie. it's not like official voiceover work it's just internet stuff but that doesn't dilute the personal value it has to me

Got my marriage license today. Almost got married with my first and last names reversed.

I started applying to shitty retail jobs about two weeks ago, and I finally got a callback for one. I have an interview scheduled for the end of the week. Assuming I get it, I'll be earning roughly $30,000/year less than the market value of my experience/skills/labor. It's better than earning nothing and having a giant gap of unemployment on my resume, but it's still really depressing.

I've been sick since Thursday or Friday of last week. Hooray for getting the flu again this year, it seems. I'm getting a little better but I didn't fucking sleep at all last night. Even with a pre-bed vodka tonic and some Nyquil I coughed so much I woke up.

Boss told me to take another day off because there's a lot of projects on the horizon and I don't need to overextend myself. It's tough. I like that I'm in a position where I can work from home if I'm sick or in a case like this, have someone tell me to fuck off and rest for a day because I sound like I'm gargling mucus.

Not gonna lie, I did kinda feel like this.

Taking the day off work tomorrow because my front brakes need fixed I have two job interviews, both for permanent tech writer positions. I still need to finish revising my writing samples so I'll probably be up late tonight.

I started getting ready to move out of my apartment today. The first thing I did was take my posters off the wall, which I haven't done anything to since I moved in two years ago. I learned today that using sticky tack for this long results in blue dots completely covering my wall. Google told me that WD-40 would help remove them, which was partially true. Google did not tell me that the WD-40 would also stain the wall, so I may have made things slightly worse. :sighduck:

WD-40 is oil based, so I'm trying some Dawn dish liquid to see if that helps, since the only way I could fuck it up more is if I tried to punch them away and knocked chunks out of the wall. Regardless, I don't think that I'll be getting my security deposit (at least not the full amount) back.

If you somehow do punch small holes in the wall in the process (possibly out of frustration) toothpaste can help you fill small holes if you're really at a loss. I should also mention that this really only works if you have white toothpaste and a white wall since Aquafresh or sparkly blue Crest is not gonna be a big help here.

Depending if WD-40 saturated the wall you might need to paint it. I had one of those sticky ball things (that in my defense were totally designed to stick to walls) that my mom and I were throwing around when I was like 4 or 5. I threw it so hard it stuck to the wall. Score! Too bad it left a faint blue stain my dad ended up having to paint over no matter how many times we tried cleaning it.

How big of stains are we talking?

Yeah, I think I'm just going to have to lose the security deposit haha. :sighduck:

The sticky tack (on multiple walls)--smaller than a dime, but highly visible. The WD-40 (one one wall, but also the largest; hindsight being 20/20, I should have tested it on a smaller wall first)--roughly the circumference of a can of soda, and might be overlooked if they don't go through the apartment very well when I leave, which is unlikely.

Were you allowed to nail things into the wall, so long as you patched the holes?

Not sure to be honest. I haven't looked at any of the paperwork (or even really thought about it) since I signed it two years ago. Regardless, I'm not super worried about it anymore. If I get my security deposit back, great. If not, oh well.
