Everything he does is to cultivate the image of himself that is simultaneously an "everyman"/"hip" but also a "free thinker", "kind and empathetic" but also "strong and stoic", "working class" but also "rich", with the final one – "rich" – being the only one he can pass off convincingly considering the carelessness flaunting his wealth, this all despite being an avowed socialist (Marx considered the extremely wealthy/bourgeoisie prone to if not intrinsically evil) so he essentially has to juggle and balance all these contradictions of self he's constructed over the years.

The dog thing is especially hard for him because it reveals a ton of his contradictions all in one and he's unable to bolster one without crumbling the other.
"Shock collars are based" = "stoic and strong"/"Free thinker"
"Animal cruelty is bad" = "kind and empathetic"/"everyman"
To be contradictory to prevailing opinion makes him come across as "insightful" to his fans, like he possesses some actual intelligence to go against the grain of what's considered "normal", but the prevailing opinion in this instance is: "Shocking your dog for leaving her 'spot' is bad."
Does he contradict this and show himself a "free thinker" but contradict his image of being "kind and empathetic", or does he agree but make a casualty of his "kind" image whilst also show him being susceptible to peer pressure and public opinion?

In this instance his only recourse was to lie and hope it'd work because it's spare any harm to his perceived image whilst also having favourable odds (as far as he was concerned) considering he has sycophants in Twitch leadership, Twitch's payroll, and in his chat. It thankfully backfired.

TLDR: "Has he actually consumed One Piece in any form?"
Answer: HAS HE FUCK.
He's one of the most astroturfed figures on the internet, both from the media/Twitch but also his own actions. Did he buy the Bleach swastica sword because he liked Bleach and anime, or because he needs to foster the image of having normal people likes and hobbies?
The most I'd be willing to concede he's watched of One Piece is the Netflix show on his second monitor at best.

agreed, I read comics in the 2000's/2010's (around the time they started to really fall off) very sporadically, the people obsessed with comics were always amoral weirdo's, I wish I could have gotten to the core of it and asked "why do you like superhero shit so much? you are an asshole"

I'd imagine if they were honest, its simply the power fantasy.
Hasan probably thinks One Piece is about fighting Capitalists, or w/e shit he wants to fit his own ideals into, I dunno, he should kill himself for tainting such a good hearted kids manga with his mere affiliation.

the only "political" axis its on is Authoritarianism vs Freedom/Libertarianism, Luffy doesn't care about politics or the naunces of positions on economics, he cares about being free and eating a good meal.

I don't think it's a stretch to say the only thing morally separating Hasan and Hitler is opportunity, Hasan who encourages political violence, ballwashes terrorists and genocidal regimes (as long as they can be construed to be anti American) would 100% commit horrific atrocities on the same scale if you gave him the same resources and unlimited political power Hitler had. Hitler at least still liked dogs, can you imagine how Hasan would behave towards Kaya in the Hasanbunker if he found himself on the losing end of a war of annihilation?

By the way, the teenager that was killed was some sort of South American and was drunk and high on marijuana when they were taunting the tiger. His parents then attempted to sue the city.

What a shame they had to put down a smart and beautiful creature because a wretched mutt.

People like this don't watch One Piece and thing Luffy is some staunch revolutionary that loves to overthrow governments. Ignoring the fact he's friends with many monarchs, one of his best friends being a princess, and he's helped kings back to their rightful place on the throne half a dozen times. He just hates assholes and cowards, that's literally it.

It used to be popular to put like a stuffed hunted animal or mount an animals head on your walls. This feels like the modern day tough guy version of that. Just a living big animal that you have control over. Its brown levels of mentality you see African warlords do with Hyenas or lions on chains when they do statements to present themselves as powerful.

He's so insecure himself that he needs a living animal prop.
