Shock collars have a specific purpose that separates them from other methods. They are specifically for when a dog needs immediate correction in situations where great harm can be caused if the dog makes a mistake. Just as an example, I have a friend with an uncle who lived in a rural area around some very beligerent people; I'm talking about 'shoot your dog the moment it steps over the propery line' sort of neighbors. So his dogs had shock collars tied to a geofence, so they could wander freely on his property without having to worry about crossing some arbitrary invisible line that made it legal to kill them. 99% of dog owners will never need a shock collar. Hasan is just scum.

It looks like a shock collar but instead of a shock it just gives a loud beep like a dog whistle that only the dog can hear and its been a good way to curb the barking but obviously it looks bad if people dont know its a sound and not a shock.

It could be a shock collar, and it probably is, but there's other types of collars like the sound one that also work so it feels bad to not mention it.

I live in a country where most dogs are left in the garden during the day while their owners are away. When I was a kid, my father put one on our dog because our garden was too large to be fenced entirely, after we found him wandering outside several times. I found it cruel, but his reasoning was that it was a better alternative than to keep him locked in inside all day, or find him flattened like a pancake on the road. He removed it after a few months and there weren't issues again.

I still do not support it and I see it as animal cruelty, just like debarking collars. It's also absolutely not meant to be used on dogs that are kept inside, that's just straight up torture.

As I said, it is not my oppinion, but the legislators. They just go "chains are illegal but you still have to make sure your dog stays on your property", kind of like with children.

Properly cared for reptiles are still way less of a time and energy commitment than even the least care-intensive mammals. Once you get the enclosure set up, all you really have to do is feed, change bedding, and make sure water bowls are full and clean. They aren't social and don't form bonds, so they don't require playtime or training outside of getting them used to handling for husbandry purposes. I think I spend more time in a week playing with my cat to get her energy out and keep her from destroying the house than I do taking care of my snakes in a month - they're simple creatures and they just don't need a lot to be content.

That being said, if Hasan is too lazy to train his dog without electrocuting it and can't tolerate an animal that doesn't want to be a prop on camera eight hours a day, he should be kept far away from reptiles also.

Part of the issue too was that pet stores full of cheap "purebred" puppy mill dogs used to be way more common. As awareness of puppy mills and the abhorrent conditions the breeding animals were being kept in spread, "Adopt, don't shop" became a popular slogan to discourage people from shopping at chain pet stores that just fed back into the cycle of abuse. There's nothing wrong with buying a purebred dog from an ethical breeder, especially if that dog is going to have a specific job.
 
Who is the biggest non-shitlib troll in Congress right now?

I want them to immediately introduce The Hassan Piker Anti-Animal Abuse and Israeli Security Act of 2025.

It'll do two things:

1. Bans the use of shock collars in the U.S..
2. Sells more military ordnance to Israel (even a token amount would be funny).
