Yeah, the real fucked up smaller streamers are the ones that insist on going full-time with it and quitting their job because they get a couple good months where it can pay their bills. I've known a couple people from highschool that did exactly that, and life isn't looking so good for them. Same brain rot as the big streamers but without the financial safety net. I'm convinced it takes a special kind of narcissistic stupidity to think that because a handful of people are willing to watch you for a while that you can make it to the big leagues if you just drop everything else in your life to pursue it. The number of kids that are going to ruin their lives chasing this fantasy of becoming millionaire streamers and YouTubers is going to be far larger than the number that get fucked up by the troon/gay shit going around, mark my words. We'll likely see a staggering number of cases where people get fucked up by both. What a world. Not even exclusive to big streamers, if anything the churn for mid-sized and smaller streamers is where the real brain rot is. You know, the five to ten viewer Andy's that somehow maintain a stagnant viewer base for years on end and call it a success because If Hasan can do it, surely I can can make it too!
It really does do something bizarre to people in a insidious, pervasive way over time if there's no discipline in the streamer. If not careful eventually everything gets filtered through streamer brain, from friendships to grudgingly meting out time in meatspace before plugging back in for a parasocial injection session. Anecdotally, got a buddy big into streaming I keep tabs on, last I heard his socially awkward kid wants to be a streamer just like his daddums and his marriage is starting to strain; stream must go on nonetheless.
But hey, if Hasan can do it...
