Honestly even if it's something insignificant like Shahid owning the company in Tony's name it would be fucking hilarious.I don't buy the rumors of Meltzer owning a part of AEW but it would be hilarious

INB4 some AEW neckbeard sends the federal judge death threats on behalf of TKs honorthe court is forcing AEW to go public about who owns it or else it gets sent back to the state.
Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest, Nick Khan gets shit for putting sponsors on the ring mat but at least TKO can make its own money, Shahid is probably granting Tony millions of dollars to operate AEW, it’s not cheap to run a wrestling federation with good production values, so I can at least put up with the mild sponsorslop if I’m getting sports entertained otherwiseHonestly even if it's something insignificant like Shahid owning the company in Tony's name it would be fucking hilarious.
I doubt wrestling would be anywhere near as big or well known if not for Hogan being the guy in the WWF, the first WrestleMania was absolutely a fianancial risk for Vince, and say what you will about the man’s character IRL but you don’t see that many people in today’s corporate America willing to take risks like that and it paid off, also Dusty being the back-up if Hogan wasn’t signed is news to me as a Zoomer who started watching in late 2007 but I guess that does make Cody’s story and the build up to WrestleMania 40 make more sense then it already didSince Hogan's death, I keep wondering about what would've happened had Vince not signed Hogan.
My guess: Hogan stays in AWA, but Verne keeps honeydicking the AWA title and fans continue to leave. In a late, desperate attempt, Verne finally puts the belt on Hogan but way after anyone gives a fuck. The territory dies, Hogan goes to Vince or JCP and becomes a midcarder and a footnote in history. Meanwhile, Vince goes with Dusty Rhodes (as was his backup if Hogan didn't work). Dusty had charisma but wasn't the guy Hogan was. He wasn't over the top in his personality. Vince's national expansion still happens but goes a lot slower. JCP still overspends and goes under and gets bought by Turner.
That's what I heard in Cornette's clip about his death. Apparently it's from a Vince interview from his biopic. It definitely would've not worked as well. Dusty was great and all but he wasn't the over the top guy like Hogan who could make you excited to be an American and take your vitamins.Dusty being the back-up if Hogan wasn’t signed is news to me as a Zoomer who started watching in late 2007
This is the part I think is most fascinating to think about. I wonder what his ceiling would be. Maybe he would end up being about as big a star as Sid Vicious. The territory dies, Hogan goes to Vince or JCP and becomes a midcarder and a footnote in history.
That's a good comparison. Hogan had a worse look than Sid (balding, less lean, same height) but slightly better in the ring and way better on promos. Both guys were super intense. By the early 90s, though, with the steroid trial being a thing I doubt Vince puts the company on Hogan's back againThis is the part I think is most fascinating to think about. I wonder what his ceiling would be. Maybe he would end up being about as big a star as Sid Vicious.
The only interesting parts would be to see how much of AEW that WBD owns and if there are other individual owners we haven't heard of before. People speculating that Meltzer has a piece of the company and that's why he's so in the tank for them are wrong. Meltzer does it for free, he's just that much of an embarrassing shill because he thinks the Bucks, Omega and Tony are his actual friends.also with them being ordered to disclose their exact ownership figures by the judge I can't imagine Tony is taking that well
Could be.IWC Zoomers thinking Seth's injury is a work
HHH is on the right side of history.
Wrong.he's very solid at basic "GRR I am a bad guy GRR" midcard heel stuff
he'd be best in a non-English speaking joint as Evil American or as a flunky in a stable
For everything I've seen, the Wrestling Boom of the 80's - Rock and Wrestling, Wrestlemaina itself, etc - can be put on the backs of 3 people. Vince McMahon, Andre the Giant, and Hulk Hogan. You take even one of them out of the equation, I doubt the Boom happens, and while Wrestling would still exist, it'd be a whole different beast compared to now.Since Hogan's death, I keep wondering about what would've happened had Vince not signed Hogan.

Without Andre it might've been possible, although with no Wrestlemania 3 main event it'd certainly have taken a gigantic hit.For everything I've seen, the Wrestling Boom of the 80's - Rock and Wrestling, Wrestlemaina itself, etc - can be put on the backs of 3 people. I mean, for all their faults, Hogan had star power out the ass, and Vince was such a ruthless son of a bitch he out carnied the carnies running the territories in his National Expansion. Andre, meanwhile, was fucking Andre and a guaranteed spectacle. You take away any one of them? That's a timeline I don't have the autism to try and plan out, but I could honestly see Wrestlemania failing in that version of wrestling.
I’ll gladly eat shit (not literally) if im wrong, I think they would have went with Roman vs Seth 1-on-1 if he wasn’t actually injured, then again they could have went with the injury angle to avoid people predicting it so easily, as of now im 60% on Cody winning, 39% on Cena winning and 1% on a Seth cash-inCould be.
Could not be.
We’ll see.
AEW fans taking credit for CMLL numbers is hilarious, they were already drawing well during this second boom of Mistico and the shows with zero AEW talent are drawing as well as the ones with them, you'd know that if you actually liked CMLL and weren't just using it as a prop to suck off AEW. Furthermore I only included CMLL because they are partnered with both NJPW and AEW, the real issue is obvious NJPW and AEWs treatment of that partnership, but for some reason you didn't address that, wonder why that could be?Yes, CMLL is totally distraught over the partnership, considering it has boosted their TV ratings and live gate in Mexico tremendously.
Man, you post some of the most retarded takes in this thread.
what the fuck is a full time champion schedule lol it's not 1978 NWA. WWE has long had part time champions and contrary to smarks crying about it it never hurt business at all. Cena right now barely shows up. They could easily book around not wanting Punk to wrestle a bunchTheres no way Punk will commit to a full time champion schedule so Gunther will retain
CMLL themselves put out a press release about how much of an impact the AEW partnership has had on their business, but sure, we believe YOU over them.AEW fans taking credit for CMLL numbers is hilarious, they were already drawing well during this second boom of Mistico and the shows with zero AEW talent are drawing as well as the ones with them, you'd know that if you actually liked CMLL and weren't just using it as a prop to suck off AEW.
