Finished listening to Cornette’s thoughts on Hulk. Few interesting points he brought up:
Hogan got over so quick because he studied top guys and immediately got it. It was fascinating to hear that by 1980-81 he was wrestling in front of sold out crowds.
While many see Hogan’s popularity died out in WCW, it was already fading by 91. I still think Warrior was the worst person to put over, but Vince had the right idea. Just the wrong person. Hogan just got caught in all the scandals and the transition to the New Generation era guys.
The nWo money train though, Hulk knew to go on that one. That 98 WCW contract was insane. Hogan/Rock, Hogan/Vince, and Hogan/Shawn. Kind of the last hits before Hulk hit the wall. That reality show was the starting point of Hulk’s decline. I kinda wish Hogan had said no and moved on to doing the occasional WWE/TNA appearance.
Good stuff by Cornette.
