Cornette for sure has that mentality that there being one massive promotion in the United States is a bad thing (even though he worked for the WWF in the late 90s), and thats coming from a guy who generally thinks monopolies are a bad thing
Well the good news is there isn’t just one major promotion. AEW exists and owns Ring of Honor, TNA is now an odd vassal to WWE, and you have the whole Indie Scene. And if you wanna be really trivial Billy Corgan runs NWA.

There is more wrestling made today then in any other period in time. WWE alone has 3 weekly shows and that’s not counting all the PLEs. It’s insane how business has grown.

You could add bodyslamming big fat dudes he was feuding with (King Kong Bundy, One Man Gang, Big Boss Man circa 89, Earthquake etc.) to the list of back problems. There's Andre too of course, but I don't think they had a big house show run, it was all on TV.

The leg drop was a big culprit too, Hogan said before he could give some advice to his younger self it would be "Get a different finisher brother", landing square on his ass almost every night for years really fucked up his lower back. Wouldn't be surprised if Austin had similar issues after using the stunner so much.

he should have gone to the Axe Bomber as Hollywood

Austin hurt his back in the shower. Seriously great little anecdote from Steve.
Speaking of Austin’s it’s interesting to wonder how things would have changed if Owen Hart didn’t botch the piledriver. Steve was a far more capable wrestler before obviously. But Stone Cold wouldn’t have been the same without his brawler moveset, it’s what made him stand out.

Austin seemed to get even more over in those 2 months when he couldn't wrestle. I wonder if we would have still gotten him stunning McMahon at that MSG RAW if he didn't get hurt. And much like Hogan, Stone Cold was so over that he didn't need to do much during his matches around that time.

Yeah that's true, the Hulkster has lamented not using the axe bomber like he did in Japan or his really early days in Mempho when he had just a plain ol' bearhug. (the super southern squeeze daddy)
I always liked watching these super early Hogan promos before he went full on comic book character with the shouting you can see and hear here how he was trying to emulate Dusty and pick up on that Florida draw he had.

What's retarded is he had another finish but for some reason refused to just do the AXE BOMBER everywhere.

I think the problem with the leg drop is it was basically a straight up and down bump. If you watch Austin, he tends to angle himself a bit so he's not slamming straight down and there's a bit more distribution of the impact. And I think as he got older it became more of a back bump than an ass bump. I seem to recall him stunning one of the New Day guys looking really different from 'old' Austin.

I don't know if that makes a world of difference but guys who use cutters (DDP, Austin, Orton) don't seem to have much in the way of mobility issues from what I can tell (although, yeah, DDP is a bit of an anomaly given how much of a health freak he was.)

I bet it's like TNA Reaction, the Hogan-era "reality" show. Hidden shakycam "spying" on people cutting promos and putting over angles. That show followed Impact, and only aired in 2010.

I'm guessing it's just going to be like an embedded 'behind the scenes' type thing, similar to how the NHL and other sports leagues have been doing similar shit. Or, you know, WWE.

So has it been confirmed that Bubba The Love Sponge was telling the truth about Hogan?
I haven't seen anything. I'm not sure if this a case of even a broken clock is right twice a day or if he's was actually telling the truth.

If he was telling the truth, Hogan's people were doing damage control then. It is strange they brought in Kurt Angle for their promotion a week or so ago. Maybe that was a sign things weren't going well healthwise.

Take this for what its worth I saw Bam Margera on TMZ talking about Hulks death one thing he mentioned the reason they stayed in Tampa over the winter was his wife is a stretching coach was supposedly helping HH with his back. He said they actually had dinner plans for next week. Again this from Bam Margera, but he's posted photos with Hulk a few times over the last year so who knows.
