The story goes that certain people backstage encouraged Ryan to do stuff to wind up Punk and talk shit about him so Punk got him pulled from TV and when Ryan went back to the people who egged him on to get their help they basically did the whole "awww gee shucks, sorry, but we can't do anything for you buddy."

People seem to think it's why Nic never showed up in AEW and there are still a few people in the company that think it was a shitty thing to do to Ryan.

So he is a complete idiot and now wants to sue everyone.

I really don't see Punk and CM Punk working together to get him blacklisted from the pro-wrestling industry as his suit alleges.

Pink and Tony couldn't even agree to run a weekly show together, but they buried the hatchet to prevent the world from the brilliance that is Ryan Nemeth.

Lmao
Edit: What the hell am I reading? Is every Ryan in wrestling just a god damn idiot when CM Punk is involved?

How come when there's giant vs giant type matches, we don't see them have a more typical wrestling match? Wouldn't that just make the most sense? Like there was that time when Big Show and Kane were a team(2007?) where they had a match and actually wrestled. Collar & elbow, waistlocks, the fuckin basics. And it was actually pretty fun to watch, albeit a bit slow and a little clumsy. But that's one of the only examples I can think of.

Every other time this style of match up happens, it's just "battle of the bulls/irresistible force meets immovable object" type shit which is really boring. There's only so many should block exchanges and test of strength stalemates and double clothesline knock-downs you can do.
It's not the same as watching two cruisers try and out flip eachother, or watching two technical wrestlers Jockeying For Position™️.

So I dropped out of watching wrestling right around Cena becoming the guy for WWE, 2006ish. What past that point would you guys say is worth watching? For example is Lucha Underground any good? Which promotion is worth watching?

Considering myself a certified Punk A-log, this just seems like Ryan is, to quote a legend: "queer, a faggot maybe."

I don't doubt Punk might have throw his little "I'm a TOUGH GUY" tantrum, and probably texted someone (most definitely Ace Steel, who probably then got Pat Buck to handle that faggotry.) But to say that Punk is always getting violent and hurting people? Sounds like they're trying to make him into the Straight Edge, white New Jack. :story:

I highly recommend Lucha Underground just because it's so unique of a show.

It honestly reminded me of the old Global Wrestling Federation out of Texas (I would argue was almost sort of like a proto-ECW) in that it did things that other major wrestling companies never did. If you ever want to see some major folks before they got big like Raven, Mick Foley, X-Pac, Bruce Pritchard, etc. check out GWF. They used to be on ESPN and crazily, they would cover results in the other wrestling companies.

The Lucha Underground storylines were bonkers at times but it's production values were pretty decent. And God they knew how to make someone like Penta look like a fucking terrifying monster. Real strong vibes like when the WWE introduced Kane originally. And the whole Aztec quasi cult aspect, with paranormal elements made it really different from your average wrestling program.

But just like GWF, Lucha Underground ran into the issue of the money drying up/disappearing and both died with a whimper.

What I'm reading through this it only confirms to me that Ryan Nemeth is a fucking coward. He can't take it and now he's suing for being put in his place? Give me a break.
what this really just shows me is how dysfunctional AEW is, say what you will about Punk but so far he hasn't caused any issues in the Post-Vince WWE, even with some of his past professional differences with HHH

My understanding was that when the original dust up happened and Punk wanted to quit, the solution was to separate everything with two shows. Collision was supposed to be Punk and the talent that got along with him.

But it seemed like Tony never really kept things split. He also seems like he does what WCW did in its dying days which was fly ungodly amounts of talent to shows they never use and not even attempt to keep track of who was where and when.

If I'm Punk and I'm told that certain people are going to kept away to stop the drama and shit, it's no different than if my boss tells me I don't have to worry about being scheduled with a coworker I can't stand. And if I find that I'm scheduled with the guy, I'm calling the boss and telling him to change the schedule.

This guy saying he was embarrassed to be told to go home is so stupid. Mother fucker, you're a wrestler. If Tony told you to go into the ring wearing a tutu and portray a flamboyant homosexual on TV, you're going to do it.

AEW is indeed most likely a shit-show backstage in many aspects but you are delusional if you think Phil won't try to pull some shit if WWE make the batshit decision to put a strap on him again.

He's only with the company at the moment because he desperately needs the pay-check but he'll try to fuck them over the second he thinks he has cards to play. He just can't help himself. He genuinely believes the whole "Best In The World" shit about himself despite there being numerous people in the WWE midcard that could outwork him just by getting their standard house-show shit in.

He's dusted as fuck and i think WWE fans are cheering more for his intro music than him at this stage.

Splitting a company into two just because one group doesn't want to work with the other is just plain stupid. Drama and tension between the two factions will always be there. Either remove the negative influences in your company or suffer a slow death. Even an average employee is going to see that shitshow a mile away.

When you have a smark who runs a wrestling promotion and tries to please his #1 star too much that you get two shows at the expense of declining employee morale and more drama, you get AEW.

yeah Lucha Underground is widely regarded as really fun stuff and if you're going to try it the sooner you bail and start watching the better, it's basically a spoiler to even try to explain how the spoilers come up
there's a bit of an argument about its wrasslin as it's usually, like, three different matches with the guys worked with intent to later be assembled in post.
it works perfectly fine but iirc some people felt it wasn't "real" so to speak since it was more a tv drama that centered around wrasslin than footage of the wrasslin matches presented with bumper segments
it works fine and there's no real disconnect in the matches as they're presented, but while I get that's sort of a dumb nerd argument but I can at least understand where it's coming from so I figure it's worth mentioning

Oh I'm not saying it was smart at all. Tony should have fired Punk on the spot or at the very least, granted his release when requested.

This isn't even a wrestling thing. It's a common sense thing.

It's no different in my mind than how AEW had Penta for years and never sold his mask merch. It's like being a concert promoter and not selling T-shirts at the fucking venue.

No worries, I still can't fathom on why Tony didn't listen to CM Punk telling him that having two shows was a stupid idea or granted his immediate release. He probably thinks that things are still OK with AEW at that point since he still has his #1 star and we all know how it turned out.

About Penta's lack of mask promotion, I think Tony's taking a bit of WCW's mentality that Rey Mysterio's or luchador masks don't sell.

It was stupid then and stupid now. It's literally how the luchadores make their real money in Mexico and Japan.

I honestly think he is so scatter brained that if a meeting takes longer than 15 minutes, he won't do it. Something like a merch contract takes people sitting down and talking. And I suspect that Tony won't delegate anything so nothing gets done. I am 100% sure that HHH had nothing to do with the merch deal with Penta other than reviewing the design and signing the contract the team of lawyers wrote.

Like the lack of the production meetings. I firmly believe the reason that doesn't happen is that Tony can't be bothered but at the same time, can't let someone else actually do it. It's live TV. A fucking PBS telethon has production meetings.

The questionable booking and constant drama that AEW has produced through the years and all because the CEO doesn't want to improve and do shit even though it's...I don't know....his fucking company is enough proof that Tony's a walking, whiny doormat who wants everything be done by him.
