As regards WWE, I only watch the Rumble and Mania because of this utter fucking twaddle and Jey winning the Rumble means i won't even bother with Mania this year.
Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Most of these fans are Indians.
Yeah you can tell by all the Roman meat riders.
How ass mad can one user be about some guy winning a fake fight in a company that he doesn't like and only watches two of their shows in one year.
I legitimately laughed out loud, like really hard, at all those posts of his you had lined up. Absolutely beautiful.
but you really get bothered by it anyways.
Fallout: New Vegas fans when Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 fans exist.
normalfags have been enjoying WWE especially since HHH had first taken over
And that’s all that matters to be honest.
its these armchair bookers who think they can book better
To be fair. I think I could book AEW better than TK but that ain’t saying much.
they are the worst types of fans
Completely true.
Do we want to take a look at your posting this time last year?
Go ahead.

In other news, I mostly agree. Except on the Cody and Gunther parts.

Why isn't there more american masked wrestlers?

I mean, masks are cool , they make good merch, and if you're ugly, solves that issue right there.
Chikara has a ton of masked wrestlers but also had people like Wheeler Yuta and Tracy Williams who threw a tantrum when made to wrestle under one.

But in the WWE, Vince just plain HATES masked wrestlers with the exception of Kane and Rey Mysterio. It was long rumored that Vince had a standing rule in the 00s and early 10s where only Rey and Kane could wear masks due to Vince being petty in regards to only wanting Kane/Rey mask merch being sold as far as them getting special treatment and in the case of Sin Cara, he only happened because when Rey left the WWE, Vince got pissy ala
Savage and the Slim Jim's contract debacle and signed a random masked luchadore to replace Rey/sell his mask in place of Rey.

It's a multi-layered issue in my mind, so I apologise for the rant.

First and foremost, it's not just an American issue, it is a Western issue. Because whenever someone decides to don a mask, they fall into one of two traps. Either they become a parody/comedy relief act (Hurricane, Curry Man, Kendo Nagasaki) or become low-rent Great Muta and reserve it as a "demonic alt personality" like some edgy kid talking about his wolf spirit form on tumblr. Amusingly both Jonathan Gresham and TJP are both doing said act. Whereas Blake Christian has opt for the body paint approach instead like Finn Balor.

Next comes cost and personal investment. For a Mexican looking to get into wrestling in his country, the quality and range of mask makers is fairly high. Thus he can revaluate his options at a local price. "Deon Sparks" (who shall be our hypothetical indie wrestler) has been hustling on the circuit for the last seven months after spending close to year in wrestling school. Deon ain't got shit to his name in terms of rep nor a dime. So he has to make a choice when it comes to his gear. Does he go and get himself some cheap trunks and boots from Highspots? Maybe get some funky jeggings from Hot Topic and rock his sneakers, keep those dollars set aside for gas. Or does Deon pray that he can find a basic mask/singlet combo that fits? Because you know for a fact that anyone who specialises in head gear, that shit is custom fit and thus costly for just about anyone not being booked for a super indie biweekly. And by the time Mr. Sparks is getting attention, will he throw aside said booking chances because he can now afford a mask? No.

You want a great example of someone who attempted a mask on the indies early on and looked shit? Fuego Del Sol. I love his promo game, amazing seller. But his first six months in AEW, that mask would loosen itself every other move. Now he's a small guy, hell he's basically Mexican. Deon has a nigger sized head. He ain't getting a mask that fits that isn't a balaclava or custom made.

Another thing to factor in is overviewing what companies want! WWE has often stressed the importance of emotion, which is best expressed facially. It's a big reason why they got Andrade unmasked prior to joining NXT and why Sami is well, Sami. It's rare to find a company willing to accept a Westerner in a mask. Those that have masked Westerners, well, look at how they are positioned. Evil Uno and Serpentico are enhancement talent in AEW. Axiom, despite being one half of the NXT tag-team champions; is the comedic relief to Nathan Frazer. I'd argue the best example on the indies and touring circuit right now is Ninja Mack and sadly you can argue he started out within the first category; parody. Hell the Wyatt Six would be more terrifying if they wrestled with masks, but they don't. Second the bell rings, it's just three dudes who look like they have Discord kittens rather than demonic plans.

Japan is the only other place that seemingly attempts masks, but even than they become isolated concepts. TJPW has multiple girls who are completely separate wrestlers/gimmicks when masked. Enhancement talent also get masked up in the hopes that the green rookie, once ready, can be something and thus, show his/her face.
To be fair unmasking also has its downside. Preston Vance made a big deal about being unmasked but once he did, he pretty much vanished off the face of the Earth.

Similarly, Tracy Williams and Wheeler Yuta are two generic as fuck shitters who were only interesting as masked wrestlers Green Ant and Sylverhawk. Especially Wheeler, who has become a major Poochie of AEW as an unmasked wrestler to the point of having Xpac tier go away heat.

depending on the design, it's hard to breath, hard to see. your head is suffocating in it's own sweat and heat.

I missed the Rumbe on the Rumble day and just caught it with some friends recently. It was a pretty good Rumble overall. Last year or the year before the actual Rumble match felt way weaker overall, but some years had higher moments FOR ME. Now, I have not kept up with the weekly shows half as much leading up to this rumble.

I think Jey is overrated, but there is absolutely a story there with him winning. I do hope he has a good match at Mania, and Mania is a good one.

I can say: Thank God CM Punk lost.

Edit: I am retarded.

Although Jey would never be my pick I see why Hunter would pick him. Anybody else that I can think of to put in that spot would inevitably fuck up the actual main event scene and the bigger players' storyline like Roman, Seth, Drew, Punk, Cena etc. Who are all way bigger than the rumble, they couldn't do any surprises this year because the stories are too big and important. So the only thing you can do is throw away the rumble, Jey in that sense becomes a good pick because he does deserve his flowers for how much merch he moves and he would be willing to lose to Gunther at mania, there is a story there as well not a great one but it is present at the very least. Now the rumble winner is isolated in his own vortex and the buildup to night 2 mania main event can be very good if done right, especially with how unpredictable everything is now.

Reminder Benoit won the Rumble in '04, yet the title match at Mania XX was a Triple Threat. Likewise, Rock won Rumble '00, and Mania that year was a Fatal Four-Way. We have a long way to go, and they haven't even started announcing matches yet.

As with the current US President's administration, I am cautiously optimistic.

How many Drew Carey's out of 10 do you all give IShowSpeed's performance in the Royal Rumble?
I find the guy insufferable but just like in WrestleMania, he was fine. Props to him for actually giving a shit and selling the moves, I fully expected someone with his attitude to just immediately get up after the spear and bark.

If anything I wish he did that now that I think about it, with everyone there to give him the Daniel Puder treatment.

Nah, he wouldn't get the Pruder treatment, he would got Johnny Knoxville treatment. If IShowPenis had nosold Bron's spear, Bron would have 100% started shooting like Umaga when Steve-O nosold for him. There is no way Rick and Scott wouldn't have trained him that way
