AEW are running Collision in some weird looking e-sports place with a capacity of 2500 tonight whilst TNA has sold out an actual sports arena with around 4000 seats.

I know AEW can't do huge numbers everywhere they go but for fucks sake, the place they are running tonight looks like it only has floor-seating because it is designed for people with autism to watch other people with autism play Tekken or whatever and they'd freak out if someone was sitting slightly higher than them. The atmosphere in this place is going to be noticeably dreadful.

I don't know if Hikaru botched a crossbody or if Skye Blue did something wrong, either way her knee got fucked up.

That fucking sucks. As far as I can recall Skye had the most matches in AEW in 2023 and was on track to do the same this year.

She's been constantly improving in ring and is a low key success story for the company. She's not quite there character wise but she's young and will eventually find something that works.

Hopefully she didn't get too badly fucked up.

Granted it's a PPV, but it does generally feel like TNA is on a hotstreak, what with all the NXT overlap they have been doing and such. It;s still funny that Arena Empty Wrestling is getting outsold by lolTNA.

TNA kind of feels like Nintendo in the Sony-Microsoft Console Wars albeit less successful. They're not involved in anything (i.e. WWE vs. AEW) and just keep plugging along keeping their heads above water.

TNA is 22 years old. I swear they've on the verge of bankruptcy that entire 22 years, and they just keep going.

TNA partnering with WWE has helped them a lot recently but they have also been doing some solid booking outside of that.

The mere fact that they switched back to TNA as the name of the company is a huge bet on themselves.

Their relationship with AEW was all one way whereas WWE is willing to let NXT guys lose in TNA because it benefits both companies.

I'm not sure why people expected Hendry to win. He's the most over act they have sure, but he's also clearly going to the WWE soon.
Joe Hendry himself said he’s got a lot of time on his TNA contract. WWE could buy him out but this could be a Monty Brown scenario where they wait too long and everyone stops caring

So it's been a solid week since Trump matrix-timed a bullet and I want to ask if there's anybody else in the wrestling business who has disowned a friend, business partner, or acquaintance other than Jim Cornette since then? Or really in general?
yeah I agree with most of Cornettes wrestling opinions but freaking the fuck out and telling someone to forget you ever knew them over an opposing political opinion is unhinged, im not even the biggest fan of Trump but he has that Liberal/Socdem psychosis where anyone right of center might as well be Adolf Hitler reincarnated.

I was figuring either TNA would strike while the proverbial iron is hot and put the belt on Hendry, even if only in the short term, to have their World Title appear on NXT. Even if only for promotional purposes, the NXT partnership is doing significantly better by TNA than the AEW deal did, I could actually see them letting Hendry take the belt for a ride outside the company for a bit, though admittedly that didn’t work out too well the first time (read - don’t let Kenny Omega fuck off with our World Title for months again)

TNA pre-taping things would at least make that easier to pull off.

I've been meaning to ask (I really want to derail the Cornette-politics discussion so two birds/one stone), but are there any good songs or albums about wrestling like Beat the Champ by the Mountain Goats? Not necessarily the same genre, but something inspired by wrestling that's still got good songwriting to it.
Wolfie's Just Fine - Hulk Hogan Slammed Andre the Giant

Ray Stevens - The Ballad Of The Blue Cyclone (The Beginning)
