Daniel Bryan is almost certainly retarded at this point, like I genuinely believe he might have brain damage. I understand the guy wants to simply chill in then midcard and 'put guys over' all the time, like during the end of his last WWE run where he put over Drew Gulak and Adam Cole CLEAN, however he also wants to be paid good money to do it too. I'm going to preface this by saying I genuinely enjoy his wrestling and think he's one of the all time greats but he's done so many stupid things in the name of 'the art of wrestling' like wrestle with a broken orbital bone in ROH or try and 'test' his neck after breaking it by landing directly on it (surprise surprise, he injured himself bad shortly afterwards). At times it seems like he needs a tard wrangler because whenever he's given full freedom on the microphone he always makes it weird for no reason whatsoever.
In fact one of the weirdest things about AEW is how their two biggest conventional draws in Bryan and Moxley just want to devalue their drawing power. Moxley wanted to do shitty deathmatch matches on the indies (thankfully that's no longer a thing nowadays) and Danielson wants to lose to everyone while getting his head kicked in. Both of them could be AEW champ right now and being used as the face of AEW to sell tickets and do the media spots but both are just content to just wallow around on their seven figure contracts and ride it out. Somehow Tony Khan is fine with this instead of putting his foot down and saying "If you want the top draw contract, you need to behave like a top draw".
I'm not saying Danielson would fix everything but when AEW was originally centred around great wrestling and pushing underrated guys, it's actually kinda funny how Christian, Bryan, Joe etc. haven't won the AEW title yet. Meanwhile MJF wrestles like 4 times a year and kills the credibility of whoever he's wrestling against (that Jay White match might legit be the worst match of the year in terms of how it killed Jay). It seems like AEW booking is terrified of repeating the TNA thing of having a WWE guy immediately drop into the title picture, but it's been over a year now for both guys and yet nobody seems to want to pull the trigger on them, let alone the 'future AEW champ' guys like Cesaro and Malakai Black who would be lucky to win the TNT championship at this point.
