Yes, but Phil knows and Hunter knows that despite being made of glass and being more toxic than a nuclear waste dump, Punk is where the money is. He is Jeff Hardy for the generation of wrestling fans after Jeff Hardy (despite them being pretty similar in age but I digress).

I'm not a Punk fan and I honestly didn't expect WWE to bring him back but I have to admit I was a bit excited at the prospect of Seth and him doing a worked shoot angle because the idea of some wrestlers being legit upset at his return was plausible and if there's one thing WWE needs it's some angles that evoke a sense of actual emotion from the wrestlers involved.

However Seth's outburst was quickly proven to be a work, so the believability of that is out the window, and Punk's promo tonight was completely lackluster so now I don't think he's going to make much of an impact at all. Admitting he's a corporate sellout only there for the money at the end didn't really help matters either. It's hard for Seth to play the "he's a hypocrite" angle when Punk says as much himself on his first night back.

I hope he gets into a feud with Dom just on the hopes he mentions how he's not the first celebrity's child that Punk got into a fight with.
 
Seeing the AEW fans cope and seethe has been great. Punk could have came out and literally shit himself in the ring while making mongoloid noises and rolling his eyes into the back of his head and it would make AEW fans mad.

Wouldn’t work. Dom is a wrestler’s son.
Jungle Boy is Luke Perry’s son. More of a celeb than Rey if you think about it. Rey’s a wrestler, not a generic actor celebrity type.

I wish to God they made that his gimmick. That he was a principled guy who stood by his beliefs (straight edge, fuck the man, etc.) but now he's just here tot make money and pay lip service to the guy he used to be, and maybe at some point in a feud have him cave and admit that it was never about principles, it was never about ideals, it was about having the biggest pay check at the end of the month and that we were suckers for ever buying into him. Boom.

Imagine waiting for Punk to cut a seethe and cope promo, only to complain that it wasn't what they were expecting. It's almost as if people forgot what PG Punk used to be like nearly 14 years ago.
 
Bro, I fell asleep before the show and missed Jelly Roll? Screw Punk, I would have popped harder for Jelly. I was buying physical copies of his mixtapes off a sketchy ass website a decade ago when he was still a literal who gangster rapper.

Also the Punk promo was boring. I know they can't talk about Tiny and the Bucks because lawyers but still. EDIT: lol I'm reading the reactions now on Twitter and /pw/ and I didn't think it was THAT bad.
