FFS, he's out of the World Cup now.Lennart Karl has picked up an injury in training. The rumor is that it is a muscle injury
There was a great docu series on 1860 (maybe posted 6 months ago in thread, maybe it was on Sportschau?). The history is fascinating, although obviously it didn't cover this current chaos. Sure sometimes it all works out- just look at PSG. But when it doesn't, the club could cease to be.
Those are some good awful kickoff times at the world cup for us eurocucks![]()
I knew years of being a UK wrestling fan would pay off. Can't wait to be up until 5 watching some shitty Panama match before grabbing an hour of sleep and heading to work. You're entering the Hulkamania timezone, brother.
The US is a fascist dictatorship unlike the past 2 world cups who were hosted by thriving democracies that the media lovesI'm loving the forced controversy of the world cup mind, the media are full on with "The US is a fascist dictatorship"
Honestly you could make the argument that the last World Cup free of corruption was Germany 2006.The US is a fascist dictatorship unlike the past 2 world cups who were hosted by thriving democracies that the media loves
And Saudi Arabia managed to buy their way into hosting 2034. I'm sure their PR budget is gonna be in full force leading up to it. Speaking of, of the 15 stadiums planned to host games, 10 of them are brand new, and here's what they're supposedly going to look like. Oh, and they're probably not gonna serve alcohol either. The US is a fascist dictatorship unlike the past 2 world cups who were hosted by thriving democracies that the media loves
Woohoo, Scotland are gonna win! (Insert lunacy moon here)Brazil has the curious case of the starters playing worse than the subs. Two games in a row.
Also fuck Vinícius Jr
Pretty hyped. We have the best team in our history, including a PL winner and UCL champion, so expectation is high.So with the world cup starting soon I wonder: How hyped are people in your country, around you, etc and how hyped are you?
Can't wait for the US to finish 2nd or 3rd in their group, sneak into the knockout rounds, and loseSo with the world cup starting soon I wonder: How hyped are people in your country, around you, etc and how hyped are you?
Not hyped as 2022 for obvious reasons but it is everywhere in media. So with the world cup starting soon I wonder: How hyped are people in your country, around you, etc and how hyped are you?

I am hoping its the Round of 16 so the headlines will be even betterOnce England are knocked out, the media will turn on the team and manager.
I got the ugly 2022 home shirt because it'd be cheaper and nobody would want it. Even an XL is very tight. Feels like an M almost. I also have this third kit jersey from 95 or 96 that I really like, it's a light blue instead of the navy blue away. The improbability field is in full effect around the USMNT. The coverage on the Germany friendly was so over the top and pro homer, that I switched to the Spanish broadcast. (Worth it to hear the GOOOOOOOOAAAAL yell.)
That said, the US kits are moving. I'm glad I got mine when I did because all the fat man sizes are temporarily sold out online. There are still a ton of kits in sporting goods stores though, but typically the cheaper versions.
In the US at least, some of the fever is tempered not just by the level of play of the home team, but also by the seriously expensive costs of tickets. FIFA will talk about how the stadium experience is elevated and it's not as expensive as the Super Bowl - well guess what? Most fans can't afford a Super Bowl (which is why the crowd sucks for those), and while yeah, I can now get a $30 craft beer in addition to a $15 Budweiser in the stadium, it's a good 5+ hour event because of how shit parking and road access is, security theater, etc. (Most MLS games do not have these problems.)
So I'll be watching from home, dealing with lunatics who don't understand why the US (and Mexico) aren't doing as well as they were told they would. Mexico's decline in particular should be the stuff of YouTube documentaries, but then they'd have to confront some uncomfortable truths about what's happening in that country, which mirror the issues going on with their futbol.
Personally I'm not particularly hyped. The press and a lot of the usual other suspects are doing the usual "It's coming home" posting, but most of my friends back home think it's less likely than last time (and they didn't really think it would happen then either). As others said watching the press lionize the team only to inevitably turn (while protecting the precious Ngubu's like last time) when we inevitably shit the bed is going to be fun though. So with the world cup starting soon I wonder: How hyped are people in your country, around you, etc and how hyped are you?
