Qatar is going to be a disaster. The calendar is fucked up and it will ruing all the other leagues. Nobody will remember it and FIFA will continue to have the bribery tag thrown on them until 2026

TBF to Kepa, he was the 11th shooter so I don't blame him for missing the pk. And I never liked subbing the back up keeper on for pks. That's never a recipe for success

So FIFA ordered Russia not to play their national anthem, play under their flag, play with no fans, and in a neutral territory. Let the hypocrisy comparisons of human rights violations and bribery begin

Can’t stand Klopp. Always whining about how everything’s stacked against him and how these tournaments take up his precious energy (expansion of CL is fine though) but happy to dance with the trophy when he wins it.

(Admittedly I was never going to be happy whatever the outcome today)

Kepa should have been gone after refusing to come off in the other LC final. You aren’t going to recover that investment now so just get rid and find a cheaper and equally capable replacement; shouldn’t be too hard for a club like Chelsea.

The problem with Kepa is finding a club willing to invest in him after everything that has happened while still paying his wages. Unless he is willing to take a massive pay cut to go play at a mid table la liga team or french league, there isn't many places to put him

European fans and clubs actually generate a sizable percentage of revenue for international competitions and draw in attention for mega corporate advertisers. Nobody really respects nor cares for the African or Middle Eastern leagues, nor what happens in them. Which is why many players felt disrespected in the first place that the European clubs didn't want talent taking part just a few weeks ago in the African Cup of Nations. UEFA and FIFA follow the money and PR, nothing more.

Plus let's be real, China and the other respective troublemakers are never going to actually have any presence in the World Cup. Russia is the only "questionable" entity left with any hopes of realistically qualifying.

True but FIFA will probably continue to let corrupt Gulf states host the competition thus giving them an automatic qualification.

Ever since some crackhead in America had an overdose, premier league players have been taking the knee for BLM but are completely silent about human rights abuses in Qatar. I wonder if any of these retards even know they'll be playing WC games in stadiums built from slave labor.

It looks like they'll keep the groups in tact and replace Russia. They should just do a new draw, there's no way Italy and Portugal should be in the same group.

Which is weird that they decided to do something to a European team but not an African or Asian country. They turn a blind eye to things that they could virtue signal the shit out of without risking anything but they will do it now

Yeah the gulf coasts fed a lot of oil money to get a new toy. I think Poland are just going to get a free win because changing stuff now is too hard for a group that sits around and collects money all day




The taking a knee thing is not a bother for me honestly. Now I just ignore pre game and start watching games about a minute in. Sucks for the broadcasters trying to pepper in the last bits of advertisements for the needed revenue but not my problem

Yeah, I don't care about the taking a knee thing either, just pointing out the hypocrisy. I'm a prem neutral so I don't even watch that much anyway.
 
Not that I expect anything better from FIFA, but they have a pretty strict rule banning governments from getting directly involved with football. But somehow it's fine for them, the football people, to get involved in politics.

If Ukraine is unable to partake either due to the conflict, they could just select the two teams with the highest overall point percentage from the European brackets (that failed to qualify) and replace them. So we'd get Scotland vs Norway and Poland vs Albania instead or vice versa.
