Lingz is a utter travesty
What do you mean? That no look game winning assist was class, lol.

Well, it's finally happening lads. Galacticos 2.0 starts today.

Three of the top players in the world but also three players that don't track back at all. I'm sure they'll destroy whatever Belgian team they're playing today but not sure how this will work against top teams. Should at least be entertaining.

Went well.

The drama at the end of that match. Chef's Kiss that. Chelsea and Spurs have their work cut out to top it.

On a side note, we talk about the Prem primarily in this thread, anybody watch any other leagues? Juve and Milan today, gonna tune into that later, should (hopefully) be a good one.

The Conference League has some lopsided match ups with a team from Gibraltar playing Danish and Greek teams. It’s nice for those teams and the money for them is good, but the scores will get out of hand.

Been meaning to get in to Serie A again.

Same. Unfortunately, doing this requires more effort than I like to put in lol for me at least. I did tune into the Juve/Milan match though, thankfully it ended up being a banger. Gonna tune into Napoli vs Udinese today as well and try to keep this up.

Love the Prem but the constant token gesturing (which has dragged on well beyond its sell by date) has nearly killed my enjoyment of the English top flight.

Not a bad time to get back into it. Juventus is a complete disaster atm so the title race is pretty open. Mourinho is doing well at Roma so far, his antics are at least always entertaining. The league is still well behind the prem in terms of quality and pace but the big clubs have been able to retain some of their young stars. English clubs have tried poaching Chiesa, Tonali and Zaniolo with their jew money over the past year or so, only to be told to fuck off. Love to see it.

The hell is wrong with Juve? Has poor recruitment in recent years been their downfall? They're out here struggling against Spezia. Had a vice grip on Serie A for years before Ronaldo came along and Allegri left. There's one set of the peanut gallery (typically English and/or Ronaldo fangirls) who point to Ronnie's goal scoring exploits and claim Juve couldn't build and play around him, then there's the other side (myself included), who point to how dominant they were for years prior and how their blueprint for success was working just fine (lest we forget the 2 CL finals appearances), and how bringing in Ronaldo took away what they were, a team, and instead focused their gameplan around 1 player.

Not to take away from what Ronaldo brought, but I think it was a bit of a silly signing in hindsight. And I guess we can't discount how other clubs have also risen from the ashes (Inter and Milan) due to investment and smart recruitment. And Napoli being Napoli, of course. Just consistently in the mix.

Thoughts? The answer is probably somewhere in the middle.

Definitely somewhere in the middle. Poor recruitment is a big part of it, we signed a lot of big name players who were over the hill (not really Ronaldo, but Ramsey, Higuain, Pjanic, etc.) and wasted a lot of money doing it.

We lost some key players from the period of Serie A domination to retirement or transfers. Pirlo, Pogba, Marchisio, Buffon, etc.

The Ronaldo signing was also not great, and he wasn't really given a chance to succeed as he had a different manager in each of his 3 years at the club. It was pretty much a waste of his time and the club's money. I'm glad he's doing well at United now.

I still have hope for the near future though. We have something to build on with de Ligt, Chiesa and Locatelli...hopefully some academy players too. But right now it's a total mess. Personally, I think we should have kept Pirlo as a manager. He has a more forward thinking mentality while Allegri's defensive tactics often prevent our creative players from expressing themselves.

Salty Runback achieved by west ham... who then get drawn against Manchester City
Fucking deserve the league cup if they can make it through this fixture

Totally agree. Pirlo (understandably) had a rough debut season as a manager but he definitely picked up perfomance towards the end of last season, I would've liked to see him try his hand at a second. I was never a big fan of Allegri or his style of football and his seeming skepticism of Chiesa after the solid performence he gave in the euros is concerning, though he did start him today which was nice.

Yeah, this is on the front office. Pirlo has a vision and you could see improvements in the squad by the end of the season once players started buying in. The problem was his system demands a lot of running and pressing from forwards and as great as Ronaldo still is, he just can't do that anymore. So thinking they had Ronaldo for at least another year, Juve chose him over Pirlo and it backfired on them. I bet he finds success managing a big club somewhere soon.

As far as Chiesa goes, I'm hoping that Allegri is just resting him more than normal right now since he worked so hard in the Euros. The guy is such a joy to watch and has a killer instinct in big moments. Also a perfect player for Pirlo's tactics, another good example of the incompetency of the front office.

I think Moyes might actually be the one to do it, especially as Manchester City will be constantly traveling for the week leading up to it. (Club Bruges and an in-form Brighton just before hand) whereas West Ham get to enjoy nearly the entirety of October at home.

Subject of the cup; Brentford, QPR and Liverpool are on fairly comfortable paths right now. Wouldn't be surprised to see one of them in the semi's. Leeds beating Arsenal would amuse me greatly too, purely so we have more unpredictability in the cup.

Anyone else looking forward to Man City vs. PSG tomorrow? Hard to predict how it will go. PSG is barely winning in their farmer's league but City had to work incredibly hard to beat Chelsea last weekend and could be tired heading into the midweek. De Bruyne looked like he was about to collapse when Pep subbed him off. I'm gonna go with City as PSG seemed to be exposed in their last CL match against Brugge.

Depends how retarded Pep wants to get with team selection. If he keeps it somewhat normal I fancy City.

Still can't believe the starting XI he fielded in the Final last season. :cryblood:
