I can't be the only one out here who really wants to steal those solar panels...

I always wondered what those weird security cameras with solar panels were on all the roundabouts and intersections where I lived. They popped up out of nowhere, and after learning about Flock cameras I went to the youtube archives for my local city hall meetings, and I found no talk about installing Flock cameras at all. I believe everyone here got bait and switched or they kept it silent because they knew the some people here wouldn't have like them installing surveillance cameras on every street corner.

I'm starting to think that normies enjoy being watched, when I started my job at this university I had to sit through one of those HR videos they make you do. And one of them bragged that we have the most security cameras on campus than any other US university like it was a thing to be happy about. Doesn't seem to stop the indians from getting grabby with the American students though...

“Hahaha get wrecked ya surveilling fucks”

Meanwhile, more police employees have been caught after boasting about misusing Flock to spy on citizens.

Flock's reaction? To reach out to stalkers like Echol's County Sheriff's Office secretary Anna Altobello, to recommend that she change her name in the logs from 'Anna Altobello' to just 'A' to make it harder to catch them. Oh, and remember how Flock required that LEOs enter a 'legitimate' reason to do a search? The 'reason' that Altobello gave for stalking her ex-boyfriend?
"CASE"
Wow, entering four letters is a high bar to pass to stalk everywhere someone goes.

You'd think this would be a sign for Flock and any other company that makes/uses these cameras to stop sticking this shit everywhere. I mean it doesn't get any more obvious than this.

But of course they will just double-down on their bullshit because "the beatings will continue until obedience is improved" or some shit.

Ah damn, I guess I'm pretty late.
I got a notification for this article on my phone a few minutes ago and immediately had to pull this thread up.

The public can play that game too, hopefully they're realizing that it's still an option. If something nudged the average person out of their complacency, stuff like this would be the mildest form of pushback companies like this would see, but that's being pretty optimistic.

Swings and roundabouts.

After outrage about Flock's evildoings, Amazon has been forced to cancel their 'Ring' partnership with Flock.
Of course, Ring spy cameras are a big problem in themselves.

Flock seems to be making more partnerships with schools. I'M SURE GARRETT LANGLEY HAS ABSOLUTELY NO ULTERIOR MOTIVES.

Not that I'm defending people owning ring cameras, but you can't really expect normalfags to connect the dots and realize the hypocrisy of their actions. At least they're doing SOMETHING about Flock. Regarding everything else, it's baby steps... really fucking annoying baby steps, but still.

He didn’t commit a crime, but Flock cam alerts keep getting him pulled over

"I continually get pulled over," Kyle Dausman said. "I can't really use my truck in any fashion. I believe my safety is at risk."

"In Colorado data entry, we use both zeros and O's in license plates," Lyons said. "Sometimes the data entry will be for both."

He said the warrant returned hits when Dausman's plate was searched either way.

"They entered it for both," Lyons said. "It wasn't a mistake, one or the other. They just entered it for both an O and a zero, because we've run it both ways and the warrant pops up both ways."

Similar things have happened in the UK but with people in supermarkets. A guy happened to look like a thief, facial recognition software identified him as a shoplifter and the guy had to prove he was innocent.

So given that the backends of these cameras are frequently accessible both over the open internet and locally, and known to store video for extended periods of time, what exactly prevents an individual from accessing the stored files, downloading a video file, using AI to alter it to include for instance a public official or law enforcement officer committing a crime, and reuploading the altered file to the device?

Interesting thought, however.

Flock has been caught advertising itself to prospective clients by promoting its utility in perving at preteen gymnasts.
This appears to have caused political controversy primarily because the kids being 'observed' in this case were at a jewish community center.
And of course they renewed because it did exactly what they wanted it to.
