Ralph admitting that he blames Harry for the breakdown of his marriage is so embarrassing. The problem wasn’t the violent, drunk pillhead gambling addict causing daily chaos in his family’s life, it was the father-in-law who bankrolled much of their existence until Ralph fucked that up too.

I wonder if Ralph even read the 12 Steps when he went to a few meetings. If he did, he probably fled as soon as he found out about step four: making a “searching and fearless moral inventory” of oneself. Even one fraction of the work required for this step would bring Ralph to his knees.
