Electric cars - are gay question

Can someone spoonfeed me on why electric cars are for gays? I don't know much about them, but i feel like they are made and endorsed by the same people who shill vaccines and eat bugs.
Mommy is pushing me to get an electric, and I just don't know how to tell her no, she's not accepting the "i feel gay in electric car" argument

Because they take forever to charge, they have lower mileage, they’re more expensive, and they don’t actually help the environment because you still have to burn coal to generate the electricity

Extracting the resources needed to make the batteries (lithium, cobalt etc) isn't the most environmentally process either.

Then there's the relatively limited lifespan of EVs. For example, the Nissan Leaf is famous for its shitty batteries that lose most of their capacity after about 7 or 8 years on the road.

Couple this with the fact that something like 80% of a vehicle's total lifetime emissions are made during the manufacturing process, and these alleged "green" EVs are anything but.

If you really want to save the environment, buy a well-maintained car from the 1990s or 2000s that gets good gas mileage and keep maintaining it properly.

I can't see them being as easy to work on, and they've got some weird and unique issues from what I understand, especially in extreme weather scenarios.

Sometimes they're probably fine if you're getting them for the right reasons, but the type of people who are really obsessed with electric vehicles are almost always soy elementals who don't worry about fixing their own vehicles because they can't operate their oven let alone work on their car, and who love "progressive", trendy technology that presents some facade of eco-friendliness.

Imo they aren't THAT gay, you can't let the fact reddit fruitcakes like something affect your decisions. Still wouldn't get one though.

China open-pit-lithium-mine Robotics Automation News.jpg Lithium mines are horrific and its one of the most reactive metals around. If you've dealt with any even slightly old electronics you've seen how quickly they become acid spewing time bombs so imagine thousands of them in a car thats constantly jerked around that needs to last for decades.

Who the fuck told you that you could make a legitimate answer? I saw your username and anticipated you saying how you can't fuck an electric car's tailpipe. I'm heartbroken.
