I can understand content creators who do the odd personal fundraiser since panhandling is just part of their profession (and some are actually decent people, though they're becoming more and more rare these days), but the randos who drop their paypal or beg for non-essential shit? It's too much. There's a line of decency and you've crossed it.

To be succinct, people such as those in the OP and discussed in the replies are why a lot of people won't donate to online fundraisers no matter how worthwhile or legitimate they may be.
Also, almost every disaster-related story on the evening news here -- especially people who lose their residence in a fire -- includes a closing reference to a gofundme account set up as quickly as possible so that the news anchors can promote it. In many cases, the people admit they didn't bother with renter's insurance (which seems relatively cheap in my area, YMMV) which would have mitigated some of their losses and financial hardship. It's hard to help those who seem to have little to no desire in helping themselves.
In addition to the fake pronouns that sound like sounds from a foreign language, SJW buzzwords such as "neurodivergent" or "BIPOC" (which I always seem to parse as 'Bipolar Community') are also good ways to discourage donations.
It's enough to make one miss the times where people hated to beg for money because it was a sign of desperation. We've gone from one extreme (the shame of needing money from another source) to another (shameless and belligerent e-begging).

It's one thing to help someone you know that is going through hard times, such as a classmate whose kid is battling cancer and the bills rack up in the thousands per visit that are uncovered by even the best insurance plans. It's another to blindly give money to someone with an unverifiable sob story who publicly dismisses anyone offering helpful information about possible resources. It's even worse for those whose grift boils down to "I don't want to provide for myself, so pay my expenses for me, pls, kthx."

One of the best I've ever seen is we need $00000's to build a well and school in African village, where the profile picture was a guy holding a wad of cash infront of his face until it somehow went viral and it got changed and they made double or tripple the goal even though people where pointing out that the pictures have been used on other GoFundMe's only to be insulted and called racist etc.
Or the ones that are obviously not going to be used for any legitimate purpous like "Raising awareness about X non issue in Y area" and the money is just going to be pocketed by the person running it.

Cancer, I understand. It's unexpected. The medical bills pile up the more treatment you get, and if the person dies, the family is left paying a very high bill. (My mother's was over a hundred grand.) All these other people, though, are selfish bastards who expect strangers to pay their entire bill for things that they should work and save up for.

I can't even walk down the street without being begged for change. So these people can fuck off.
When I was homeless no one helped me and no programs ever even got back to me. Yet here I am alive. Still not 100% stable. But I'm not asking strangers to fund me. One of those people is asking for $10k for a year of rent. Another is using their kids as a grift. Their kids might not even be with them. The boyfriend was arrested. For what? I'm gonna guess it's drug related since that's often the case with people like this. If so, then the money they are asking for goes straight into a needle or pipe. And then the whole thing starts over again.
Why is this Shadow denied assistance when they have two kids and are homeless? There's no way they wouldn't be offered something. Which reinforces my belief that the kids aren't with them or they are outright lying. They also refuse to go to a shelter and would rather e-beg while the kids suffer. What parent does that?
