Don't forget Anthem, the other flop they produced. Their past 3 games have all been garbage, for a decade of shit.

The only success they've had since 2014 is the Mass Effect remaster. They can't even do a KOTOR remaster now; that's in limbo with some other company. A Dragon Age remaster would have been a great idea ... if Veilguard hadn't shit the bed.

I don't see how BioWare makes it to 2026.

Mass Effect 5 is absolutely their last shot. Especially with the rumors that Veilguard failed to sell a million copies.

I don't count the remaster, it's not a new game. Yeah it was a success, but so were those games the first time they were released. It's like copying an older siblings previous highschool homework. Bioware hasn't done shit right in a decade.

If the studio does somehow survive long enough to get ME5 out the door, it'll be hilarious to basically see them double-tapping the ME franchise as a whole.

And they can't even admit defeat. LoL
Some of the Wokeguard actually did. Both IGN and Kotaku published articles admitting they didn't think it was very good and they only supported it to "own the chuds."

I've seen a couple troon YouTubers post reviews that are almost as negative as the famous Skillup one. Seems that much like Saints Row reboot pretty much no one regardless of their politics liked or bought this.

I mean, EA's case to pull the 90% discount right now.

Bioware said that in 2020 or 2021 about that: they can't remaster both DAO and DA2 for not having knowledge of the earlier engines (lol, just read @Tanner Glass of why).

they could give it away for free and i still wouldn't put that in my gaming library
Man, if i want to get AIDS quickly; at least i gonna take the shot and afterwards wash my ass with chlorium.
Someone gifted me sex with Hitler and cuckhold simulator. I haven't played either but I'm almost positive both those are probably better games than Veilguard.
Even Bonetown & Bonecraft are way better than Woketard.

difference is those 2 were made for shits and giggles, wokeguard was 100% serious and wanted to push a message.

No, it wasn't an artistic success in any way, but 1) it made money and 2) given the utter shit-show that was Veilguard we should be relieved it was intact as it was, teapot tempest about Miranda's ass notwithstanding.

Call it life support. There's no more rabbits they can pull out of that particular hat. They can't even do a new Baldur's Gate!

They might get their shot. Sven whatshisface Larian's CEO said he's not interested in working with Wizards of the Coasts again so they'll be looking for someone else to develop Baldur's Gate 4.
Current Bioware doing a follow-up to Baldur's Gate 3? That'd be as much of a fail as DA4.

is there anywhere to go after 3's story?
slapping baldur's gate on to the name of that game was completely unnecessary and pretty much done for marketing purposes

Even if the story is completely unrelated to 3, that's not going to be the issue for Bioware. Modern bioware can't even come up with dialogue options worth a shit

By the way, has anyone checked on what EA has to say regarding Bioware's latest failure? Electronic Arts is run by a bunch of soulless corpo ghouls and they're notorious for executing studios when they fail them financially with Pandemic and Visceral being the most notorious examples, so I can't imagine them being too thrilled over the Veilguard's reception. They might already be preparing the guillotine.

There's a lot of speculation (some of it right here in this thread) that BioWare brings something special to the EA table none of its other studios do, presumably some ESG / DEI points plus some cred as a storied developer of RPGs, even if that reputation has sunk lower than OJ Simpson's. Whatever it might be, there has to be some explanation for EA not giving them the Old Yeller treatment after Anthem.
