I've been thinking of what the interactions with your allies in this game reminds me of, and I finally got it:
It's the characters of nu-Saints Row all over again.
saints row 2022.png
It's the same forced friends bullshit, right down to the same kind of cringy sitcom dialogue, except that you can fuck them if you choose.
Holy shit, millenials really do only know how to write one game.

they say write what you know, and what they know is small overpriced commiefornia apartment living with mixed ethnic roomates they hang out with out of necessity but they view this and the snide remarks they make to each other because theyre not actually friends as true unconventional friendship and a rare genuine connection despite most commiefornian urbanites living the same way because the tv told them toxic friendships are just tsundere or banter and that their flaws are just part of their copy and pasted uniqueness and its normal people with normal families who hate each other and are bland despite it being more stable relaxed friendly and sadly being rarer and rarer

This isn't slutty, or unrealistic. Its well fitting armor which accentuates the female form.
it is insofar that it diminishes the function of armor (it's supposed to guide the weapon away, not right into the middle of 2 boobs).

but then in most games you can tank a 5-ton prank hit from a dragon with a few planks of wood that weight nothing, so who's complaining about rule of cool or exposed midriffs.

Women don't play games
why do you think bg3 sold as much? who do you think is the majority of those 70k playing failguard?

This isn't wrong, but my point was I think this argument applies thrice for codpieces, imagine a billhook grabbing you codpiece and yanking you down on your ass before stabbing you in the throat, FAR more a risk if you ask me

All of this armour talk is also ignoring the fact that armour, especially late plate cruirass, was not to be flush with the body but to have quite some separation so that in the eventualaty that a blade does penetrate (which isnt a if but a when), it doesnt go far in enuff to cause serious arm, plus all the padding you have to have metal NOT chaff your skin with constant use.
Armour that accentuates the female features, I do think we wouldve seen that, but it would never be flush with the actual body, it would be oversized, like the codpiece.

The Qunari have been totally woobified.

Taash apparently claims “you can leave the Qun whenever you want, and some Qunari can breathe fire”(why on earth would it have been speculation that they were tied to dragons).

Worst retcon, I’d say even worse than the ending.

I suspect it’s because you’ve got the trans/gay audience that wants their discount pansexual discount tieflings and the hard edges of the Qun have been sanded off.

I'm just gonna post shadiversities video on boob armor. He went over it years ago

Bros, even the retarded tranny that sperged about it stopped. Why do you continue with this off topic garbage?

With that out of the way, it's weekend and new peak dropped.
I wonder if it will increase further.

For Solas, magic is magic. Why does he suddenly abhor it?
If you choose the "Blood magic is evil" dialogue option in Inquisition, he even disapproves of that!
Tbf you find out later he was lying, and he's been raping your brain with blood magic the whole time. He makes you hallucinate Varric being alive, so he can bust out of his fade prison.

Elven god of gaslighting tbh.. He's the only character I didn't hate.

So on the Qun, I think people kinda yawned at the “collectivist society that drugs people into obedience and uses social engineering on a large scale”-and focused either on “gender roles!” Or something related like “everyone gets free healthcare”.

Now the retcon has completely shifted-whereas even DAI kept the Qun’s antagonism to the rest of Thedas, this game seems to have finally gotten rid of it because our POC coded queer tieflings can’t be antagonists in and of themselves.

Origins is genuinely a masterpiece and one of my favourite games - there is a lot of subtlety to the dialogue and worldbuilding, much more so than any of the other games, though DA2 is not bad at all. You can avoid the coomer bait and actually play a religious, conservative character if you want (this was back when Dragon Age was actually a ROLE-PLAYING game that respected the preferences of every kind of player). The Andrastrian religion of DA is very similar to Catholicism and many of the series characters have been religious, like Alistair, Wynne, and Leliana who is a reformed sinner that devoted herself to God. Party banter was one of my favourite elements of Origins - the characters were diverse in all the ways that mattered and they discussed every topic under the sun, including theological and philosophical. Origins established that the Andrastrian Church (Chantry) is a powerful institutional force in the world, particularly in human society, and is socially conservative in nature. I remember when romancing Alistair he expressed reservations at having pre-marital sex early in the relationship because of his upbringing. The writers essentially ruined the lore in the later games and massively de-emphasised the role of the Chantry and stripped all of the theological underpinnings of the world established in the first game. All of the "religious" characters in Inquisition basically are lukewarm Christcuck types - they claim to have faith but none of that belief is evident in their behaviour. I would recommend Origins however if you're looking for a truly memorable role-playing experience; maybe you can understand why this Veilguard turd hits so hard for us long-time DA fans 🤣

On the discussion of female warriors others are having - Origins establishes that female warriors are quite rare, even if men and women are largely equal in most other ways. Alistair tells a female Grey Warden that women Wardens have been quite rare historically, and all the Wardens he knew before being killed at Ostagar were male. If you play a female Cousland Arl Howe remarks that her being trained as a warrior as "unique", and later insults her by saying she's "playing the man" when she confronts him later. At Ostagar you can talk to Loghain and if you're a woman he gives advice on how not to feel out of place at a military camp full of men. The only female warrior companion in Origins in the traditional sense is a literal rock golem, and I don't think it's unrealistic for Leliana to be proficient in daggers, poisons, archery and subterfuge given her background. The later games don't emphasise the point but it has been established the female warriors like Aveline and Cassandra are exceptional, and exceptional people have always existed so I don't have a problem with their inclusion. Most of the female characters in DA have been mages and rogues anyways - I do think this is an element Bioware hasn't gone full woke on.

We'll never have banter like Zevran with Morrigan.
Or Alistar and Morrigan, where Morrigan makes fun of him for the entire game, then at some point this little nigga drops "you look like your mother" and that's such a critical hit she shuts up instantly, then brings it up again in another banter follow-up.
It felt so good and so earned, and you got to see character growth, albeit in small measure. But it did indicated that Alistar had some growth in the game, even if it's only his banter skills.

Interesting. I'm still not sure if I'd really enjoy it enough to invest time in playing it though I will make a note to see if I can find a decent LP of it that follows those lines.

I've seen footage of the game before and I can't shake the impression that it appears to play like a single player MMO complete with the bar at the bottom of the screen full of moves. While I understand why that kind of system makes sense for multiplayer games like MMOs and MOBAs, I've always preferred a more direct form of combat, even if it has dice roll elements like Morrowind.

As far as party banter and such I have a very mixed relationship with it. On one hand when done right it's excellent for storytelling, character building, and engagement. On the other hand it activates my FOMO/anxiety which hinders my ability to relax and enjoy the game at my own pace. One example that comes to mind is RDR2. There were some really good character interactions and little moments that can happen when you hang around the big group camp. While those were nice it also made it harder for me to take off on lengthy hunting trips elsewhere that I genuinely enjoyed more. Ultimately I resolved to simply enjoy my hunting (which is arguably the best part of RDR2) and let go of the FOMO for group interactions but this came at the cost of my reduced investment in the side characters. Some day I really should get the PC version of RDR2 on the cheap and replay it as a full fledged mountain man hunter version of Morgan instead of my "try to get the most out of a single play-through" approach the one time I did beat it. Though I know I would be tempted to just play online instead and I resolved never to play a Rockstar Online game again after they wrongfully reset my GTAO character with no chance to appeal.

Cullen is too handsome & have a complex character arc.
He appears in the 3 games, as a hint.
First he wanted to kill the mages in the tower for being tortured by demons.
Second, he believed Meredith but took a decision after showing her madness.
Third, he tried to leave lydium.
He's interesting. That's why the popularity.
Cullen also underwent a change in the first game: when you play a mage he is rather supportive of mages at first. And bonus point irf you play as a femalke mage you find out that he is rather smitten with the female player character. Only when the mage tower is flooded with demons and abominations is he on the "total mage death'" route. If you rescue him as a female mage he rambles "Oh no not this again tempting me with the one thing I was not allowed to have" and your mage can go "Oh god this is embarassing"
