I love him for doing it. Every time he pulls this shit the more he discredits himself and the more people start to realize how worthless and unreliable journalists are. What kind of supposedly-neutral reporter fires off this kind of snarky arrogance when reporting on a game? Turns out, the "standard" kind, since they're all like this to varying degrees. He just wears it on his sleeve while others try to disguise it a bit.
It sucks because he does some pretty good journalism when the time comes. I remember he bitched at Yong Yea for daring to criticize micro transactions.

If Baldur Gates 3 became the game of the century why shouldn't this one be a massive success?
It's simple. Baldurs Gate 3 is a game with good gameplay, it expanded over the previous entries, it has freedom of choice for builds and story (In an RPG, a novel concept, I know), a decent story and is replayable.

While Dragon Age: Veilguard has generic action based gameplay, it removed features (like the ability to customice the companion builds in depth), your choice for roleplaying is restricted with various flavours of "yes" (Fallout 4 style), the story is mediocre (At least from what I have read from the more knowledgeable posters here) and nobody likes politics being blatantly shoved down your throat.

Most people don't care about inclusivity or diversity in games. Both for the better and worse. BG3 has a lot of diversity in its cast, but most people didn't complain since the devs had the restraint to not forcefully shove it in your face. With DA: Veilguard you even have leftist complaining how the writting is blatantly trying to pander to current politics. The writters have a fantasy world, with fantasy races, with magic and they couldn't come up with other analogies or ways to explore current worlds issues? They just had to go with shoving the pronouns, gender identity and transgenderism discource in the most bland and uninspired way possible? It's just disrespectful to the audience. Even more so to the fans when they blatantly shit on established canon.

Tldr: Because DA: Veilguard is fundamentally boring in gameplay and story when compared to other or previous games. For an RPG, its freedom of choice for roleplaying is restricitve. Which is antithetical to the genre.

So, do you believe that EA is buying a ton of extra games on Steam and then having bot accounts so they can barely have 70k players online simultaneously? Sales and shipped numbers can be manipulated, and you can be selective with the data. That is true, but the idea that there are some 20-50k instances of the game running on some botfarm somewhere in EA is fucking cope.
Yeah I do believe that because I do not trust companies for one fucking second. They've constantly lied and fudged numbers and I think they've fudged the numbers enough to form a narrative that it's a success, without making it obvious that it's been botted to shit and back.
Like the game. Hate the game. It does not matter to me, but the numbers are what they are. Not great, not dismal, and rejecting that fact is coping.
believing these numbers are real leads to the conclusion that people are willingly playing this piece of dogshit, on day one, at full price. If that's the reality, then never has it been so clear that my hobby is no longer for me, and not in ways that can be explained as "it's just a choice brah" and "what's wrong with making games for different audiences?", because both of those copes lead to the shit we're seeing now.

If i have to find one, just ONE positive thing about the game is that my boy Smudboy has a new game to shit on.

You are aware that the graphs for the other games are for a way longer time than Failguard? They are made out of daily/weekly snapshots instead of hourly

Man, that is a blast from the past.
I am such a Bioware oldfag that I was there in their old forums, posting plot analyses on ME2, shitting on the game's plot and getting a lot of fucking hate for it.
He was one of the original "Yes, you are all wrong" autistic chads.

They are playing this dogshit on day one, at full price. That's what consoomers do. They see something new and shiny and they buy that thing. You are living in a world where people play 100 hours of Starfield before they realize that the game is utter tripe.

If you are a rational, thinking human with some discernment and actual taste, gaming is not for you. It's for kids now, and for adults with such arrested development that they for all intent and purposes function as kids. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Oh, how the arrogant will be humbled when the player base predictably crumbles to nothing. All they have are these micro, short-term snapshot 'wins' that inevitably turn into long-term cope & seethe. They never learn.

Also, is it really a "win" when it shows the symbol for a "mixed review" ,meaning that reviews were less than 70% positive?

Are there really people in here that think 70k concurrent players is in any form a good number for the game or studio? It didn't even manage to clear the top 10, barely hanging above BG3, which is a year old at this point.
It would need be to be atleast 700k for Bioware to be not closed in the near future by daddy EA

I get what you're saying and feel kind of the same, although playing vidya IS a pretty childish thing to do.
And gaming isn't even for kids now, kids play Fifa or fortnite and don't give a fuck about the leftover AAA slop singleplayer experiences like we did 10 years ago. Offerings like Biowares aren't even for kids, but for retarded millenials.

Dont know if this was already posted but all endings have already ben uploaded to youtube with the post credit scene and man are they shit

In all endings you bind solas to the veil to stop it from collapsing, using a mcguffing dagger that needs his blood to work, the difference between all endings is how you bind him, either he does it willingly because it turns out Morrigan has part of Methyl, an elven godess inside of her that Solas loved who tells him to stop or by force, and wether you and your team dies or not which depends on wether you did the companion quest, so basically ME2 suicide mission again. The post-credit scene sets up the next game by showing some unknown invisible entities that talk about how they were behind it all, by whispering shit to key antagonist of the previous games. Loghain leaving you and the king to die in the first game? They were behind it all. Varric brother going insane in DA2? They were behind it all. Coripheus? you guess it.
I swear every fucking game and dlc in this series ends with scooby doo esque "here's the real villain". Also does every individual party member can die or is it just binary "everyone lives/dies", is there even a choice where assigning the wrong person can fail catastrophically?

FWIW, I generally think something funny is going on with the game's numbers. Like I said earlier, a game with this much noteriety should have more reviews, whether they're from die hard fans trying to boost the reviews to positive, or the chuds trying to review bomb the game. Unless there are a massive amount of reviews being removed, there's no way that this game hasn't broken 5k reviews yet.

If anything, we can look at achievement numbers.

Also, I find it funny that Factorio currently has 20k more concurrent players than DAV on steam right now.

10 seconds in and have to pause. Nope, not watching it. Everything is shit. The models are crap. Everyone looks like Peter Dinklage in proportions regarding their head and face/structure, the "ugh, vegetables" like a 5 year old. The text of "lets talk about gender" flashes up and I pause. The people who like and enjoy this are not real people. They do not reside in any sane plane of existence.

The ending of DAV is actually pretty linear. I mean, even DA2 Hawke can at least side with the Templars or Mages, even if the end result((Hawke fleeing) is the same.

Here the illusion of choice is shrunk even further. It basically boils down to if you want to redeem or “beat” Solas. You can’t actually kill him, much less allow him to succeed.

If this was an actual reboot, they could have set up a number of different ending possibilities like-origins or even inquisition. As it is?

The game ends basically the same way with only minor variations. The setting barring the blight apparently wiping out half or more of the continent is the same.

There was always the fact that most choices would be ignored, or at least rolled into some unifying plot(witness dAO’s epilogues) but there isn’t even the pretense of Rook having any impact here. Just one city over another and nothing else really.

Watched Babyface's video, the combat is very lacklustre. This is just pozzed Inquisition. If I wanted more DA I would just replay Inquisition.

Something that seemingly always gets slept on -

Baldur's Gate 3 has multiplayer. Even if you somehow hate it conceptually - being able to fuck around in it with your friends is something that's going to elevate it for years to come. If anything BG3 represents a much better Bioware progression of "Neverwinter Nights" then Bioware themselves have ever been able to do.

Also, is it really a "win" when it shows the symbol for a "mixed review" ,meaning that reviews were less than 70% positive?
Yep. Less than 70% but more than 40%.
When the reviews got less than 40% positives, the mixed changes to negative, and that's all depends of how much reviews.

I get that Schrier is being a worm because he is, in fact, a worm - but pretending things are fine when they very clearly aren't is helping no one. If he really wanted to help the BioWare devs, he'd be helping them clean up their resumes because there's no fucking chance BioWare (as it exists) survives this. They bled out so much money - only to be given a second chance and then bled out even more money.
I for once don't give a shit if they keep doing victory laps. So long as they're financially hurting and insisting into financially hurting themselves I'm okay with them keeping pumping fake numbers and pretending like everything's fine. I want everyone involved in this, investors included, to go bankrupt.
