"...not the statistical minutiae."
WTF? That was a big part of the 1st game. They even had hidden stats that you couldn't directly calculate that seriously alter the strategy in battle. That was the autistic part I really enjoyed! Do they truly not understand their most core players are likely all autistic gamers that are very well versed in RPGs?
Fuck, instead of enhancing the NPC AI and the strategic system (it's the only game I know of that allows you to stack potential automated command and contingencies on NPCs using what is essentially boolean logic), which was literally one of the best parts of DA;O, they have progressively weakened and hollowed out that system until it no longer exists. In DA;O I could set all the strategic command for my NPCs and just focus on my player character knowing that I wouldn't need to switch to my NPCs and be forced to control them directly to stop them from doing dumb shit because I had already set them up for success! A well designed NPC system should allow one to be able to focus on their player character and the NPCs will still be effective in combat and not need you to take control of them unless shit really goes sideways (which is always possible, and half the fun).
Retards! This is why we can't have nice and decent things!!
I you completely ignore companions in combat, they will attack targets, use abilities, and defeat enemies all on their own. "[Companions] are their own people, "Busche says. "They have their own behaviors, they have their own autonomy on the battlefield, they'll pick their own targets. As their plots progress, they'll learn how to use their abilities more competently, and it really feels like you're fighting alongside these realized characters in battle."
Nonono, this is all wrong! I want my NPCs to fight how
I want them to fight, not how some retard that programmed a retarded AI thinks they should fight! Allow me to program them how I want them to fight just like in DA;O, but better! Why even have fucking NPCs if you have absolutely no ability to set them up how you want, and if you don't directly control them, they just do whatever the fuck they want? It's not like they have ever managed to make an NPC AI that wasn't profoundly retarded!
In some ways I'm glad they fucked this game up as badly as they did, it allows me to completely divorce myself from the dumpster fire that is this game, not give a shit how bad it is, and how it is the knife in the heart of a franchise that could have been truly great.
Deep rpg means you'll have long winded discussions on pronouns and how it effects dragons badly.
and what color of dilator they are up to at this point.
I have a bad feeling one of the DLC for this trash fire is going to be "Dragon Age: Troonguard - Dilator of Doom!!!"
You have to figure out who replaced The Divine's regular dilator with one made from red lyrium that made her go insane and issue a proclamation that the use of preferred pronouns is heresy!
I'm predicting there will be a blood magic spell called "Deadname" where you perform the blood magic ritual and they say the dead name of a troon, which causes them to drop dead on the spot regardless of where they are and what protections they have put in place.
I'm going to be honest with you chief, I cranked down the difficulty after enemies became too spongy in Origins. The combat has never been the highlight of the series for me, it's not in depth as say, Pathfinder nor flashy as Baldur's gate. The writing and setting are what I remember most fondly of the games.
It certainly doesn't reach that depth, no, The writing and setting were indeed the highlight of the game, but I took a certain enjoyment in crafting the perfect strategy and war machine for combat.
