i remember you could off Both wynne and leliana if you tick them off on the mountain of sacred ashes, lel

*Edit:
also.. Zevran and Fenris Can betray you. And you know what the Warden-Commander and Hawke do to traitors. :))

My favorite interaction of that type is if you bring Sten with you to Haven, he's so irritated by the side treks your Warden is taking that he challenges you for leadership of the party. There are multiple ways to avoid a fight, but if you win (you have to win, because he'll straight up kill you otherwise), you actually gain approval with him. In fact, you frequently gain approval from Sten by standing up to him. Vageneguard will not, I think, reward strife within the party, especially if they end up neutering the Qunari as badly as suspected.

I absolutely hate the nickname "Rook". Hate it. Always hated those stupid Varric names he gave to everyone and wouldn't stop saying.
It implies that we aren't even the most powerful player in our own story.

You know, when that last teaser and then the leaked gameplay footage dropped one or two years ago I actually was sort of hopeful because it actually didn't look too bad, and I tepidly hoped that the woke stuff would have stayed on the same level as Inquisition, because that I could stomach. Now all hope is gone.

Sure, hoping for a decent video game out of BioWare in the current year +9 was foolish, but Origins is one of my favorite video games, period. I liked Inquisition fine and even 2 has stuff that I like. I would consider myself a fan of the series, and I wanted to believe.

Now all I can hope for is a spectacular trashfire that finally kills BioWare. But it still hurts, bros (:_(
I'm in the same position. Ive been in the fandom for almost 15 years, for better or worse. Inquisition, for all its flaws, provided a great distraction when I needed one. I remember being at the midnight release for DA2 and getting the special hardcover guide book and everything.
The fandom was always garbage. I'm glad that this thread exists, because it's the one place I can go to discuss things objectively. So I'm sorry if I seem a little spergy or spammy. It's just nice to actually discuss the series and new game without shills or fangirls.

I remember that! You got approval by toughening up and standing up for yourself and to him. There was so much fun rp to be had with that, especially as a noble or city elf.

You mentioned streaming VG but don't you dare give Troonware your money. Pirate that shit.

The rook piece in chess can only move in straight lines, which means it's the only straight piece.

Why do they make that shit? AssCreed Valhalla had a similar "tree" that looked like a gigantic waste of time.

I'm going to have an epileptic fit.

That looks so overly designed and stupid, and that looks like some kind of trading card. I'm betting there will be a merch tie-in that uses this same exact design. Like card matts or something.

The Solavellan fangirls are going to be so dissapointed. Wanna bet that only a passing reference is made to the romance with Solas if you played a female elf?

In the Tevinter Nights books(which I haven't read) apparently Solas is so OP he can kill people across continental distances in their dreams.

So, I'm not surprised they shelved him early-Inquisition was a decade ago, and they'd actually have to commit to things like whether or not the Inquisition still exists and whether it wants to redeem Solas or defeat him. Better to toss him in magic jail early so they don't have to deal with the set up from the previous game.

Whether the Inquisition was disbanded and whether the Inquisitor seeks to kill or redeem Solas is one of the choices recorded in the Keep, by the way, to give you an idea of how much BioWare is failing to live up to their own expectations.

Ah yes DA:Fagsguard where everyone gets along and everyone is a sexual blank slate. Is like they are doing everything to minimize being offensive or triggering people or some dumb shit like that. Characters are no longer characters, they are just things you get to speak to. Like Inquisition for all its flaws and dumb shit atleast attempted and was not afraid. Its sad really, not just with this but with game series that used to be good even great just go down in flames because they want to appeal to the minority rather than the mayority and then complain and say we are the problem(after telling us to not buy their game).

I'm so just so confused as to who the audience for this game is.

Why would anyone choose to play this over BGS3 what does this do better than BGS3?
Just because it's Dragon Age. People get invested in the world and the lore, and want to see things continued, especially after the cliffhanger ending of DAI. This is doubly so for the nubioware tourists / faggot niggers who literally only care about cutscenes and story.
I've literally seen """people""" saying the combat in Origins and other games is trash and they would only "play" it with a mod that removed all the combat. That is the kind of person who wants this.

Yea, although I appreciate a nice story I'm a gameplay is king kind of guy.

Tumblrfaggots and shippers will probability really enjoy this.

I know the GameInformer issue was already posted, but for anyone who didn't want to read through the whole article, here's the story bit about Solas:

Given the DA:I cliff hanger, the Trespasser DLC, and the original Dreadwolf marketing, there's no way this is what was originally planned for the game. For me, this definitely confirms that they completely rebooted the game at least once during development. I wonder how long this current version of the game was actually in development for.

Likely as short as if not shorter than the time spent to develop Dragon Age 2.

At this point, Bioware hadn't made EA any significant revenue for almost a decade, all their IPs are dead or irrelevant, and surely the EA can tolerate Bioware's existence as a quarantine for their worst diversity hires for only so long without losing patience. This game is like that rock hard shit that keeps everyone painfully constipated for years - it's likely that all involved just want to shit this thing out, who cares what happens next as long as the ordeal is over.

My guess is Andrew Busche rebooted it when he took over and since he's never worked on an RPG before (just a golf game and The Sims 3), he decided to make it about The Friends You Made Along The Way with his self-insert characters. He also retooled the gameplay to be closer to Mass Effect which explains two party members and the action RPG combat (but not the retarded skill tree.) It explains the change in tone between the prior teasers (which looked more Dragon Age) and the Marvel one. Frankly there is a lot more pointing to Busche screwing this iteration of the game up instead of just taking what he inherited, polishing it up the best he could, and calling it a day.

No matter what, Bioware apologists will claim that EA didn't give Bioware enough time to make the game, because they always do.

Speaking of Andy - has anyone noticed that he hasn't appeared in any video interviews? There's plenty of video of Gaider and Casey Hudson plugging their game before release. There's even old video of writers like Hepler. Andy hasn't appeared on video, even though he's given many interviews and is the project lead. My theory is his voice is very clockable and whatever face filter app he uses doesn't work on video yet.

this has been mentioned about Dreamers (uber special mages) since dragon age: origins.
a more explicit example is Feynriel from Dragon Age 2. he killed a lot of 'Vint slavers while dreaming from far away. Champion Hawke was flabbergasted (he was hired to rescue some girl; apparently she was Feynriel's squeeze).

I'm reminded of Nikki Valens, the boardgame designer who fucked up the third edition of Arkham Horror and immediately departed for an independent career. Nikki used to identify as female, but has been on enough videos that "they" are instantly recognizable as an effeminate man.

>a drop of your blood contaminated the ritual and now you are connected to the fade forever
BRO. ITS JUST THE FUCKING ANCHOR SHIT AGAIN, YOU CANNOT BE FUCKING SERIOUS. LITERALLY IDENTICAL. :stress:
Didn't they say before that they thought the Inquisitor was a bad character because you just randomly became the chosen one, and NiggeRook is meant to have none of that, to be "meritocratic", "he's there because he's skilled"? What happened to that?

>These gods are now free and its up to Rook to stop them

It's actually gonna be Dragon Age: Veilguard - Kill the Evanuris League
