What's everyone's opinions on dwarves being able to use magic now? It seems like such an asspull but it was set up in one of the DAI dlcs. Hopefully at least, if the player character is a dwarf, we can use it, too. It'd be pretty shitty if Harding was the only dwarf of the party that can.

It really does seem like they're setting her up to be more of a main character than Rook. I don't want to play second banana in my own storyline.

If it ties into the Titans and is used in a nuanced way, then sure? Dwarves can work lyrium, Sandal has weird powers, and Valta did get some magic back when she got her connection to the titan back.

How much DAV actually deals with dwarf lore stuff is questionable though. But at the very least dwarves getting access to magic or their own version of it back has been set up in prior games.

The Titans being hunted by the Evanuris and their blood used as fuel has some interesting implications for dwarf elf relations. Solas calls Varric “a child of the stone” and notes cryptically as do other characters that the dwarves have lost something-that being the hive mind/group telepathy with the Titans.

I knew Inquisition was shit when it didn't bring anders or fenris back. Really should have been a hawk game.

Those two legit have a the best hate banter in a bioware game I've ever played. Its hilarious how the one time they actually find common ground on an issue it's against hawke when he tries to help his elf girlfriend.

They had real depth, flaws and charms. I really enjoyed using fenris as my personal enforcer and have anders be an advisor that I would have real conflict and back and forth on what was right and wrong.


Also no morrigan is a blessing in disguise, no ruination and awkward writing around her grey warden hubby

Cole makes a lot of references to it, too. Especially if you have him with you in the Deep Roads. Lots of mentions of severed connections and songs, old things waking up, ect.

I don't expect the new game to have the nuance to deal with it. Do you think Harding will mention that now, for the first time, she's able to dream? Or the golden boy, Varric? Can you imagine dealing with nightmares for the first time? Especially knowing that these images could very well be literal actual spirits and demons?

It will all be glossed over, Marvel-style.

Her personality wasn't bad at all tbh. She gave me Juno Temple vibes. My main problem was her godawful character design. Bioware needs to realize you can actually depict long hair and long braids/ponytails if you try hard enough....which they haven't.

Can I say that I am one of the few who liked the novel featuring Wynne, Cole, Shale, the Templar Evangeline, Rhys, etc. I hate that they were only in a war table mission in Inquisition. (Wynne herself is underrated. Sue me)

So I imagine that since its Tevinter that, other than Dorian, we probably won't end up seeing people like Leliana, Empress Celine, etc? Would love Isolde to make a third appearance simply so that you can punch her lights out like in Origins. Shit was and is funny.

You know, it just occurred to me that one of the most dynamic choices in Inquisition -- as well as one of the most complex to arrange; it took players ages to figure out the hidden system for it -- is who ends up as Divine. Leliana is a candidate, as are Cassandra and Vivienne.

Anyone want to take bets on none of them appearing, the Divine only being referred to as "Divine Victoria," and barely any indication of which one of them it is? Maybe a letter or a codex entry or something.

an Inquisitor mage is actually an interesting notion

Not to mention that you usually see a different dialogue option with Vivienne depending which race your Mage character has: a human mage will be greeted as a "fellow tower mage" while as a Daelish mage Vivienne is curious on how Daelish train their children who have the aptitude for magic (plus then mocking their solution as not practical for humans). I forgot what she says to the Quanri mage as that person was trained by his or her parents (which is just like Hawke and his/her sister were trained if both were mages). Still, magic is treated as a potential gateway for demons when you get too "close". The Harrowing in Origins has that one demon that tries to convince you to take him in state that the temptation always lurks out there (and you had fought symbols of sloth, wrath and pride and your fellow mage friend made a pact with a lust demon)

I'm going to respectfully disagree about her personality. The fact that she looks like a whippet that ran into a wall certainly doesn't help, but her personality is 5 parts giant chip on shoulder and 2 parts "woo - stole their pants, isn't that funny."

She's just one of the most prejudiced and resentful characters in the trilogy as far as I can recall with an arrested sense of humour that never developed past age twelve.

This actually tracks. According to the lore, Sera was an orphan adopted by a rich, infertile noblewoman. It's also hinted that her dislike for the elves stems from her poor background in Denerim's elven ghetto. I am really unsure how self-aware Sera's writer was, but turning the orphaned rich minority character into the not-so-intelligent 'class rebel' and anti-elven bigot is very on the nose.

I would say the prospect of abominations is Terrifying and horrific. I'm sure the soft faggots behind veilguard are just gonna go for some "im oppressed" angle for peeps like mages. But time and again, I forgot if it's Origins, II, or Inquisition--it is hammered in that when a mage falters for 1 brief time.. accepts a deal with some demon. an abomination is born, and it razes down Villages, slaughters bystanders, and it takes a Lot of Templars to put it down.
