Same. For 3 playthroughs.

Analyzing the reasons why I always conclude this: she seems intent on keeping reasonable mages on a reasonable "leash." No f00kin abomination factories, pls.

I would say the prospect of abominations is Terrifying and horrific. I'm sure the soft faggots behind veilguard are just gonna go for some "im oppressed" angle for peeps like mages. But time and again, I forgot if it's Origins, II, or Inquisition--it is hammered in that when a mage falters for 1 brief time.. accepts a deal with some demon. an abomination is born, and it razes down Villages, slaughters bystanders, and it takes a Lot of Templars to put it down.

Vivienne recognizes the fact that both the Circle and the Templars need reformed, not broken. She's also the only one who brings up the fact that the rebellion is costing more mage lives than not, and it encourages them to turn to blood magic out of fear and desperation.

I'll never forget the backlash Vivienne got as a character simply for pro-Circle.
 
This actually tracks. According to the lore, Sera was an orphan adopted by a rich, infertile noblewoman. It's also hinted that her dislike for the elves stems from her poor background in Denerim's elven ghetto. I am really unsure how self-aware Sera's writer was, but turning the orphaned rich minority character into the not-so-intelligent 'class rebel' and anti-elven bigot is very on the nose.
It's been too long for me to recall such fine details but given your information, that is, as you say, perfect.
 
Well. New information confirms no fun allowed. Relevant info begins on page 28. Some highlights:
  • Solas is indeed defeated at the start of the game. He is then trapped in the Fade and our attention shifts to two other deities: Elgar'nan amd Ghilan'nain.
  • Rook is connected to the Fade through drops of their blood...or something?
  • Our base is called the Lighthouse and it's super special because it's...also connected to the Fade.
  • Dialogue choices for Rook are snarky, friendly, "rough and tough", and emotional.
  • The new title reflects how diverse the team itself is--the devs, not just the companions. Silly!
  • Rook is initially involved because...well, why not? Literally. The producers takes a second to shit on the idea of the Anchor as a "magical mcguffin" and insists that Rook is there because of competency.
It's never a good sign when they start releasing massive story spoilers.
 
Connected to the Fade. So this place is close to a place that has seen a lot of death and the like? From what I remember the Fade has a weak border in places where magic was used heavily or where huge tragedies took place. Either that or it will be an abandoned Mage tower with the knowledge on how to enter the Fade (which means it requires lyrium and mages)

Apparently it's a special "magical realm" literally in the Fade, belongs to Solas, and it's described as "gaudy" and will reflect story events and world stuff. After regrouping for the first time at this special magical Fade clubhouse, you travel back to Arlathan Forest by using one of the Eluvian mirrors.

Oh, and there's now a"demon-infested" suit of mechanized armor called a Sentinel. Because...y'know. That fits.

I'm still curious about Flemeth. I still have a feeling she isn't dead.

My curiosity is being suffocated. Given what's being revealed, I'd rather all of Dragon Age's mysteries remain unsolved.

But hey, at least my PC can have pronouns now! What an advancement!

Isn't that more or less was a golem is?

There are animated suits of armor both in the Mage origin and Redcliffe Castle (in the first game, not the time travel quest). In fact I think the ones in the Mage origin are even called "sentinels." So this does fit ... and isn't new. Hrm.

I'm not sure what the deal with those animated suit is, though. We're they actually possessed by demons, or were they enchanted by the demon possessing Connor?
 
Apparently these new Sentinels are "mechanized". So closer to Golems, I assume, but "demon-infested".

The ones in the mage origin are described as "Fade dwellers" possessing a suit of armor, and the ones in Redcliffe are actually demons. There are Sentinel golems from the DLC.

Let me sperg out about one detail because here is the thing, it goes to show the entire thought process is fucked. Lorewise this is a repeat of what we saw with DND, lore?!?! FOR NERDS AMIRITE TOSS THAT SHIT OUT, ANYTHING GOES

But take the Demon inhabiting armor example. Demons specifically in this universe attached themselves to living beings to corrupt them. Arguably it was the one rule that they had. So demon infested armor essentially throws that right out. Remember Justice, the demon inhabited a rotting corpse. The whole thing was that it was temporary because of that situation. Which led to what happened in DA2 with Anders taken on and getting corrupted by Justice.

Like this aint a retcon this is an important detail that was the cornerstone of the whole DA2 plot and a major world building element in 1. Utter fucking rubbish. Granted 3 trashed a lot to begin with so I shouldn't be surprised that they would go this far.

While Neve uses ice magic and can slow time with a special ability, Bellara specializes in electricity, and she can also use magic to heal you. Her electric magic is effective against Sentinels. “However, without Bellara, we could also equip a rune that converts my ice magic, for a brief duration, into electricity to counter the Sentinels”

Demons have a pretty extensive history of possessing objects. It's not just the Warden who became Justice; any time you encounter undead it's because a demon has possessed the body. The Circle Tower Sentinels and the Redcliffe suits of armor also seem to qualify. If you count trees as "objects" (they're certainly immobile for most purposes) then you can add the sylvans. This is all in the first game. While demons obviously prefer living hosts, their targets are pretty broad, and in fact they possess corpses because they usually can't distinguish living for dead.

None of this is to say the lore isn't going to be completely assfucked by the Veilguard clowns, of course.

You won't find minutiae here, "just real numbers," Busche says. In other words, a new unlocked trait might increase damage by 25% against armor, but that's as in-depth as the numbers get.

Busche says BioWare's philosophy with the skill tree is "about changing the way you play, not the statistical minutiae."

I you completely ignore companions in combat, they will attack targets, use abilities, and defeat enemies all on their own. "[Companions] are their own people, "Busche says. "They have their own behaviors, they have their own autonomy on the battlefield, they'll pick their own targets. As their plots progress, they'll learn how to use their abilities more competently, and it really feels like you're fighting alongside these realized characters in battle."
