Disagree on Bill, when i heard the news about her i rolled my eyes, but IMO she turned out fine as an intelligent character, not just a black lesbian.

The constant hammering in of it was sloppy writing. I could see the dynamic they were trying with the two characters, but to me it just didn't work.
 
I miss Christopher Ecclestone. He was really good although he didn't want to get typecast.

David Tennant was annoying and Russell T. Davies insisted on writing terrible scripts like "Love and Monsters" and the fanwank that was "Army of Ghosts / Doomsday."

Matt Smith wasn't bad. Series 5 (his first) was pretty good and Series 6 wasn't bad but Series 7 was where it started to get Tumblr-pandery.

Peter Capaldi's first series was rather wobbly I thought and still had Tumblr pandering far too much. Series 9 though was EXCELLENT, especially the single-hander that was "Heaven Sent." Series 10, this one just gone, was inconsistent. Bill Potts was two dimensional as a companion and that episode with the emoji robots was not only a rework of the classic Who "The Happiness Patrol" but was cringingly trying to be relevant to da yoofs.

As for the new Doctor:

- If it's a FUCKING WHITE MALE, there will be salt from the Tumblrina crowd.
- If it's a woman, there will be salt because of that.

If it's a man then he'd better not be another David Tennant or Matt Smith type, and if it's a woman please let her not be some sort of manic pixie dream girl.

Prepare for salt from Tumblrinas either way. Capaldi triggered them just because he wasn't a young, skinny and non-threatening space hunk that they could easily write into their fapfictions.

I have no complaints, we'll see how the writing is. I've no doubt we're about to get some Reee from some very angry Doctor Who fans who don't want a dang dirty woman in their show.

Even though every other series had a woman in the show, even if they were only companions/whatever other role.
 
I mean they were practically announcing this since 2 seasons ago, i'm not surprised, but prepare to archive and prepare to collect salt of angry neckbeards
 
SJW salt is tastier than neck beard salt but I'll take what I can get anyways.

Besides I thought Tumblr despised Moffat and had a whole ton of blogs dedicated to hating his existence? Last time I checked Davies was the SJW pandering one on there that everyone loved.

Moffat has become many magnitudes worse than Davies ever was. At least Davies never said the Time Lords were genderfluid or that loads of black people could walk around Victorian London in posh clothing like it was nothing while calling it "bending history in a useful and progressive way".

Ugh. Only one more episode before Moffat's out. Good riddance.
 
If anyone follows the shows Facebook pages, the salt is absolutely incredible.

I'm seeing three main camps.

The neckbeards: REEEEE-ing about the Dr having a vagoo this time around. None of their reasons male sense, since regeneration can go basically any direction in terms of sex and ethnicity. Usually late 30s.

The younguns: REEEEE-ing about the neckbeards REEEE-ing. Most of them are pointing out that the Dr could have turned into a girl or black or purple or whatever at literally any time based on the whim of the writers. Generating salt from the neckbeard salt.

Oldfags: Salty about the show not being "real" anymore. Mostly outside the shenanigans of the previous two groups, but occasionally interject to clarify lore and stuff.

That quote was dumb, I'd admit. A female Doctor was inevitable anyways since even actors from the Classic Who era were pushing for it too.
