Disappointing Games You've Played

The one that comes to mind right now is Blaze and Blade for the PSX. It was very unfun game released late in the PSX lifespan.

Definitely Firewatch, given the trailer painted it as a mystery game, but then the plot just unravelled and I couldn't feel anything other than cheated out of two hours with the ending.

Also the world was void of wildlife even though you're in the middle of a massive national park. The camera just turned out to be a stupid marketing gimmick where you could buy prints of your screenshots; I made the mistake of assuming it was going to be a plot device and your collected evidence would matter, since it was hinted.

Blood Omen 2. The gameplay isn't bad but they get so many characters so very wrong, especially Vorador, who is otherwise the best part of any Legacy of Kain game.

Walking simulators are a fucking scam. If you want to build a tech/environment demo, fine, but why ask people to pay money for it?

I felt the exact same way about Gone Home. Jesus Fucking Christ. This was before Steam started tagging games with keywords, and thankfully I DID get it on sale, but it was billed as a supernatural puzzle solver. Needless to say, NO IT WAS NOT.

What's more irritating is that I rather liked the voicework in Firewatch, but like you said, the plot just comes apart on you. Fuck, I had more fun with the Stanley Parable.

Secret World Legends.
Funcom had removed the wrong things from TSW and made their endgame become a boring grindfest that asks you for money at every opportunity.

They took away the complexity of the skill circle, made passives work only on their own weapons and removed all PvP content execpt the shitty Shambala.

Game turned from populated to dead wasteland (and most likely used the revenue to update the ARK: Conan game they have)

Super Paper Mario is a great game, but a huge % of that is carried by the story and world building.... the gameplay is kinda meh. Every boss is comically easy (even for a kids game, mind you), and the gimmicks aren't really exploited to their fullest. The game is basically a 2d platformer. I praise the world building and story, but the way its set up doesn't give any reason for playing the game again. You'd honestly be fine watching a Letsplay to experience this game.

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy (whatever the fuck it wants to be called so I'm calling it by its both names)

That game started off so strong and dropped the ball so fucking hard it left a crater in the ground.
Soundtrack was surprisingly decent, ngl

Star Ocean 5
Plot is fucking shit, the main girl character is annoying as fuck. The little girl gets kidnapped like 4 times as a plot point. One time directly after you went down a long dungeon to rescue her, then she gets kidnapped again right outside that dungeon when you bring her outside.
The final boss is also shit and can soft lock the game so you have to restart the fight till it lets you win. They never fixed it either. The theme's of space travel are not there at all despite them transporting you to a spaceship for scene's. It is also why i am not getting hyped for the new game at all. I was a fan of the series till now. The drop of quality to rock bottom levels was just embarrassing. The best part of the game was the Valkyrie Profile Battle music DLC.

League of Legends. So much hype and so much people bitching over it, when its success is mostly based on aggressive marketing. Played for two days, easy to play but with too many dumbasses and whiny mules per game. Uninstalled to never come back.
The deeper you get into it the more you realise it's boring and shallow.
Heroes of the Storm: I actually liked this game at release, but ever since sometime last year thanks to the whiny community we have tanks can no longer tank, supports can barely heal and cant do squat beyond that. Much of the strategy of an already casual has been removed. If you've seen "blink" or "flash" in other MoBAs, any form of this is considered grossly OP by the community. On top of that, most of the games interesting "weird" characters have been forgotten, replaced by the devs obsession with ranged assassins.
HotS had so much potential. What killed it for me is that you can just do objectives and, on some maps, they are unstoppable.

The talent system was also a waste, and only one talent was usable. Also the damage is low and everything feels overnerfed.
Agents of Mayhem is less than a year old and I've seen multiple copies at Gamestop for $10. I've never seen that happen before ever, even for other games that got terrible reviews.
I have. Spore. That was such a terrible game. Sold as sim everything, it was just a dumbed down version of Sim Life, Sim City and Sim Space.

Valorant. Oh so it's your typical shooter but everyone has a flash grenade? It tried to be the next Overwatch killer, but at least heroes in Overwatch have some sort of upwards mobility or whatnot. This is just your generic hero shooter.

Mad Max. Like most large open-world games it gets very repetitive and boring fast. Completed it out of sheer masochism.
I liked Mad Max but I bought it used for $10. It wasn't a masterpiece but I enjoy sometimes turning my brain off and checking off boxes on a map.

This is a cliche answer but Duke Nukem Forever. It was so disappointing I quit preordering games entirely. Since preorders are a scam I guess I should be thankful for that shit game.

Tales of Arise really let me down in the end game. I guess they ran out of budget near the end.

Yea the last dungeon is a majority of just mini bosses dragged the game down further. The story was also bland, a shame they didn't spice it up at a few spots.
