Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

The qualifier in that tagline is "recognizable". I always took the word to reference more universally recognizable iconography in relation to where the person lives or a specific subculture with which the person is trying to engage.

Metal is NOT fashionable where I live and most people misinterpret my band shirts, some not even recognizing them as band shirts in the first place. It's kind of annoying, and I wouldn't really compare it to something like wearing a Batman shirt or buying a Funko pop figurine. I don't buy the band merch to simulate a sensation of popularity or engage with the metal subculture (e.g. some of the greasiest and most obnoxious "music fans" in the world), I do it to give the band money so they can keep making music since most of the money for albums goes straight to their Jewish record labels. I also (sadly) sometimes have to wear clothes when I go out in public. (And some of those band shirts have lasted close to 20 years without fading or fraying too, which is more than I can say for recently made clothes that fall apart after 2 washes.)

If my favorite bands had a way for me to give them money directly, I'd be happy to do that, but the reason they don't is because absolutely, batshit insane fans would try to use that as leverage in order to get the band to cater to them personally. So buying band shirts and silly merch is my only option as of right now.
Honestly, even if you own a few casual Marvel t-shirts, that still wouldn't necessarily make you a consoomer. There's a huge difference between wearing a t-shirt with something you like (instead of a plain t-shirt) and having a room of your house devoted to Marvel Funkopops. Pretty sure that's what this thread is, instead of pictures of random people wearing a t-shirt with Spiderman on it.
Why do you care about some retard's opinion anyway? Why do you want my approval so much? Do you want to prove me wrong and have me say "yes, in your specific instance of useless branded hoarding, you are not a soy neckbeard consoomer". What is it that you collect that you are so personally attacked?

To answer your question, imagine you died and your children are looking through all your cupboards and drawers. There will be items your kids will keep, some will be donated to goodwill, some of it will go straight to trash. Don't force your kids to carry 40kg of trash down the stairs when you die when they already have to carry your casket.
Okay, so having a wardrobe of clothing you find appealing = hoarder consoomer soy neckbeard logic. We should all dress like our betters in the FBI are required to when they're "undercover."

I'll never let my kids carry the burden of owning t-shirts. They'll be naked hunter-gatheres and only allowed to use neolithic tools.
I agree. All houses are for consoomers now because those bastards put logos on the insulation and even on planks of wood! Caves and mud huts are superior!

If I see a Grown adult with a Spiderman shirt I will never not think "faggot". I am sorry it makes you cry but most supermarkets sell tissues.

It comes down to context you mongoloid. If you want to wear that Pokémon shirt at home cool why not. If you wear that shit to a barbecue with other 35+ people don't cry for being called a faggot.

It's not just Spiderman though, I am informed that wearing a shirt with a sports team logo on it also makes you a consoomer soy faggot.

Its been said before. There isn't a tipping point of have X items you are fine but once you get X+1 then you are a soyboy faggot mccconsoomer. Its a state of mind to constantly be consuming merch and show off your hoard to others.

It's like there's a difference between watching the occasional Marvel movie when you already have an enriched life, and what we have now where this is becoming the entirety of American culture.

I love it when people seemingly don't know that plain clothes exist that don't display any branding at all, like polo shirts, button-ups, even basic tees, in a broad variety of colors and styles (both solid and patterned). You can be covered, comfortable, protected from the elements, and still look good all without flashing brand names to do it.

You can show up at pretty much any concert in plain ol' clothes and nobody's really going to give a shit since they'll be too busy having fun at the concert.
Man I just like graphic tees. I think youre not a consoomer if you get something because you like it, or even if you think it supports x band or team or organization or whatever.

I have the cuphead album on vinyl, and a vinyl collection of a few records because I like the cuphead music and I have a Japanese woodblock cuphead print in the kind of 'wild Japanese tattoo' style because I liked how it looked. Ive never played the Cuphead game in my life, I just like the animation style and music. I dont listen to vinyl because Im a hipster (entirely), I dont even have a great stereo, I use my moms old one from the mid-90s and a shitty turntable, I do it because I like the 'fuzzy sound' and make a ritual of it, you put a record on, make a cup of tea, and you sit there and kind of zen decompress while you listen to the music or read.

People have always wanted something unique to express themselves or stand out or whatever. Traders travelled across Asia to bring back exotic spices and new fabrics with fancy patterns and colors and dyes because people wanted new and unique shit. I dont think its weird to have a collection of eclectic things you picked up because youre interested in them, or you got them at a show, or you inherited them or whatever, or even got just because you liked it. Youre a consoomer more I think when you start boasting, or comparing to others, or it becomes compulsive.

Im sperging because this has come up more than once in this thread. If you can justify it by going 'well fuck you *I* like it', then its fine, but nobody can justify going 'well fuck you *I* like spending 50 thousand dollars on a garage full of funko pops'.

Where does the metal community fall in consumerism? A battle jacket is basically a jacket covered in logos. I have one myself but I can't help but think about that sometimes. A lot of metal merch is downright silly. You've got generic lazy shit where it's just the logo slapped onto something like a beer koozie, there are action figures, instruments, and even condoms and dildos.
Agreed on the metal merch being silly. Also, a good rule of thumb for that, is if the battle jacket has any denim showing, the wearer isn't a consoomer. You can go on Tshirtslayer, and see the abnormal amount of jackets that have nothing but patches on them.

Tractor Supply Co. has shirts that are about 8 dollars, and they're the softest shirts I've ever worn. Though on the rare occasion I do go to a concert, I'll wear a band tee, just to strike up convos and whatnot.

So I just found out collecting plastic realistic horses is a hobby:

Mostly women are obsessed with this garbage it seems. Horses have no purpose beyond being displayed. Some seem to buy them like beanie babies because they think they will raise in value.

The model horse hobby wants to emulate the actual horse hobby, so they have plastic model horse shows where they judge the most pretty painted horse. Look at this gorgeous winner, straight from Alabama:

Prices for a horse are on average 30-500 dollars. But most of these collectors seem to just buy mass market shit and have 50 variations of the same brown horse in the same pose.

Most expensive horse I could find was this one, it sold for 65k 2 years ago:

But my favorite is this one I found on ebay for $225:

If someone has some insider insight about this community please enlighten me, is this warhammer for fat white women? At least unlike the funkopop neckbeards, these women take the horses out of the boxes to display them.

The most salient criteria I can think of is as follows:
(A) You spend inordinate amounts of money on a specific brand, often beyond your actual financial means.
(B) You center your identity around the brand.
(C) There is no real practical use for the things you buy, and even if there is you feel compelled to buy far more than could ever be necessary for that purpose.

Corollary warning signs/symptoms include:
(a) Poor finances because you spend four figures and upwards on product that at best serve a decorative purpose.
(b) Constantly advertising your consumption on social media.
(c) Having rooms full of merch to the point that you look like a hoarder with better organizational skills.

Also add to the instant diagnosis criteria, symptom (d): You start arguing with strangers on the internet that your collecting hobby is valid and not actually consoomer.

Honestly it's just the natural evolution of the Weird Horse Girl every grade level has in school. They either grow up to work with horses in some capacity or they end up collectors still obsessed with their majesty. Crossover and extremeism will vary.

You see the same thing with dolls and stuffed animals. Adult women still like them, but the most obsessive of the lot move on to ""OOAK" art dolls and toys. Much like warhammer neckbeards, I appreciate the artistry and effort of the hobby (well, for the people who actually make and customize them, not the general collectors)

Speaking of collecting useless plastic horses:

Here's the owner of the collection.

Atleast it's a woman and not some faggot.

those horses are almost as indistinguishable between each other as funkos. Simple designs that look the same minus very small diferences is the crack cocaine for turboautism. A glitch in the system.

The only instrument I might be cajoled into buying because of a musician is a hello kitty guitar. Nativity in black
He's good. It's amazing how good musicians can make music out of a paper cup and a bit of old clothesline strung on the back of a chair... or in this case, Hello Kitty tat made from plywood and lead paint.

Oh shit, I did a double-take thinking those were Schleich (a German toy company) horses. And some of them could be, but it's hard to tell since they have no tags and were likely all repainted. Most of their toys are about realistic animals, but I know they have a fantasy line too so that pegasus could also be one of them.

PL: I collected Schleich horses and other animals for a bit, they are nice, made with good quality softer plastic and they don't cost much. I also got a few rare old ones from Ebay with tags (while Funkos need to be in their boxes to be worth something, these toys need the original tag which is attached to one of the legs usually) and they weren't much expensive either. Then I finally came to my senses and realized I would never have enough space so I stopped collecting them, but I still have them. Also when I was kid I had several Schleich's Smurfs, I wish I knew where they ended up.

An example of the current Schleich tag:

The old one:

Back then I noticed it had a custom painting scene (mostly girls posting their creations on their livejournal..) but, since I only cared about the official releases, I never looked much into it. Too bad cause I remember there were some horrors not unlike that... thing in the 4th pic.

Smoking marijuana shrinks the prefrontal cortex, making people effectively brain damaged. Even if that wasn't the case the basic bitch stoner is agonizingly insufferable because they only, only talk about getting stoned and nothing else.
most people are under the belief that you cant get addicted to cannabis

smoking weed the same way one would drink alcohol, every once in a while on a nice relaxing night in or at a party with friends, is completely harmless
but the average smoker does it daily and believes theyre not addicted

that, combined with the fact that being fucked up daily makes you not desire to do, create, or engage with anything, makes it pretty clear why their personality settles 100% on weed
its ALL they ever busy themselves with
