Shoes always seemed like one of the worst things to collect. The kind collectors are into cost a fortune right out of the gate, and they're not wearable for anyone that's not your same size. Not to mention how shoes are one of the most well-known products to be made by essentially Chinese slave labor.
Sneakerheads don't want to use a normal closet. They want to show off their collection and they have to hermetically seal the $500+ sneakers they never wear in order to preserve their value, so anything designed to store regular clothes won't work. What gets to me is that the showcasing of all of the things you mention are in such dismal taste. It's one thing if something is so fragile and important that it's housed under strict environmental conditions in a museum. But this is some tacky mass produced shit in a plastic box, stacked from floor to ceiling. Hell, at least my grandmother's Gone with the Wind collector's plates, as tacky as those were, had a decorative aspect to them and the way she arranged them over the entrance to the kitchen.
