Clarkson's Farm - Amazon Prime series about the most inept farmer... in the world

No acting required.

It reminds me of James and Richard doing the Lego building while drinking alcohol on their Drivetribe channel. It was very easy to believe that if told to do that without the cameras on them the outcome would have been much the same.
That's probably one of the main reasons why the trio are so loved by fans all around the world. On camera and off they're the same people with little to no change in mannerisms and behavior. That genuineness is rare in the television business.

"Oh, that's right, we don't have to pretend that we hate each other anymore."

Clarkson's Farm renewed for 4th season ahead of season 3 premiere
Entertainment journalists on suicide watch. Turns out a canned statement from Amazon about the Markle column not representing the company's views doesn't mean they're going to end a show that out-earned Rings of Power with 3% of its overall budget.
It's pretty insane how some rando butthurt journo memes a response to a non-existent controversy and it takes like a year until we finally get news about it.

Tangential to Clarkson, there's a bunch of UK farmers who vlog about their experiences. They've been getting a big boost in popularity, thanks to Clarkson's farm, and they're (politely) screaming about the effect that govrnment policy is having on their livelihoods. A good example is Harry's Farm, which is apparently just down the road from Clarkson.

This video goes over how stupid the government's food strategy is. tl;dr they effectively want to reduce food production even while the population of the country is growing at an unprecedented rate. He points out that much of the land currently used for meat rearing is entirely unsuitable for anything else. Clarkson probably won't touch on this stuff, because it doesn't make for great TV compared to piggies and fights with the planning committee, but just by making his farm series he's giving people like this an avenue to get the word out in ways that they couldn't have before. I find it fascinating.

Given how evil reality TV is, not to mention the evil of celebrities in general, it is quite a happy change to see something good come from a show.
Awareness is hardly going to fix all the issues in the UK, that'd be a miracle for the ages it it did, but a git like Clarkson having a positive impact is the last thing I'd expected when I first saw the show.

Stupid but not a new concept. EU arable farmers were compelled to "set aside" 15% of their land from 1992, 10% from 1996. From 1988 there had been incentives to set aside but 4 years later it was compulsion. The set aside requirement was reduced to 0% in 2008 but has been effectively replaced by "green" incentives and regulation arguably with more impact albeit less in your face.

Those grants you see Clarkson and his agi agent filling out the endless forms for: Take a look at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/funding-for-farmers#manage-your-land-to-benefit-the-environment (pdf attached). If it's too soul destroying and depressing to do so; TLDR, despite the claim in the page title (the web page address is more honest) there ain't much for actually increasing productivity, there's far more that reduces productivity.

It seems like Clarkson has graduated from a clown for the sake of entertaining the audience, to using his spotlight to show some real shit happening to the most important, yet underappreciated people in the world and educating Brits and overseas viewers. In fact I'd rather have had Clarkson's Farm be the most pirated show in the world instead of The Grand Tour.

As a matter of fact, I am gonna pirate Clarkson's Farm for my enjoyment.

Clarkson's father was a travelling salesman, who taught Clarkson how to sell. He still sells himself - very well - hence his popularity.
FWIW, his open and scathing criticism of the Left is genuine and hilarious. I have no interest in cars and don't watch Top Gear but Jeremy's columns about motoring were extremely funny.

Harry and Clarkson are cut from the same cloth. Harry is a car journalist himself, and bought a farm for shits and giggles, he's not a typical farmer, but his vid is more sensible and serious than Clarkson's (just like his car vids)

Not five minutes in and I want to fedpost. Shitty weather was a thing farmers have complained about for thousands of years, retarded bureaucracy and politicking though.... probably slightly less but at least back then you could beat down the fuckers if they started getting too haughty.

I'm 10 minutes in and feel the same way. Whatever happened to the quiet enjoyment of ones land?

You can't, UK boomers are the ultimate of their kind. They ruined their cities by importing billions of Niggers and Pakis to drive up the economy to keep their pensions, and then fucked off to village villas, appointed themselves as the authority of the farmland to feel like they lord over other people's life.

I think it's better than the previous season since we're back to actual farming and landscaping, though that might be me remembering the end of the previous season too much. RIP piglets, I wonder if there was something in the potatoes that absolutely wrecked the mothers since obviously something went very very wrong. The idea of planting wheat and beans to save on fertilizer is interesting but it can't be so simple (though on the other hand the costs of the fertilizers now reach the level it's not economically viable for some crops).

Edit: The Top Gear scoring board makes a cameo, even has the funny one sided calculations.

Vaguely similar to the three sisters method used in the Americas.
Just finished episode 1, hearing about Gerald fucked me up.

Excited to watch this season. Does anyone have a way to get Clarkson's Sunday piece in the Daily Mail or whatever without a paywall?
