I remember as a kid women being the faster options. Chun Li in Street Fighter 2 and Peach in Mario Kart for the SNES were said to be the fastest.
In mario bros. 2 toad and luigi were the fastest ones but peach had the cool glide that helped cheese past some of the worst bullshit platforming segments.

It's always okay to pick female characters. Males have less value and are expendable because I don't like, respect, or otherwise care about them. The only exception is if there are character specific traits/classes/moves. I might play Alex instead of Makoto sometimes in third strike because he's fun(low tier)

Mount and Blade Warband was cool because playing as a woman was a completely different experience. Everybody respected you less in most areas, but it also unlocked the option to marry lords to gain power quicker.
Characters with certain traits would either simp for you or hate you no matter what.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly how many modern transexuals started down the slope with the "I just play women cause they're hot!" argument. There's a pretty freudian subtext to cooming to what's supposed to be your own avatar.

Anyways I don't play as women, but I guess it's ok if you're like a low-T kind of guy who probably already crossdresses and wears their female family members' clothing when they aren't around. I'll bet guys like Randy Stair played exclusively as women when he played videogames.

Am I saying that if you play as women you're definitely an offputting, sexually dysfunctional individual who will shoot 3 people in a supermarket? No I am not, but I am saying that your chances of being an an offputting, sexually dysfunctional individual who will shoot 3 people in a supermarket are higher if you're a male who goes out of your way to play female characters in videogames.

Troons use this logic as one of their go to "egg cracking" gaslight methods for vidya gamer autists.

Randy stair was more about getting a "legacy" like his columbine shooter idols than anything else.

Only if the girl is attractive. Given the choice of mid/ugly girl, i'll pick a dude every time.
If it's for coom or troon wish fulfillment it's retarded. I assume most normal people aren't on the verge of an identity crisis and a troon arc because they played as a female blob of polygons in a fucking video game. If it's for metagaming like in Reach it's based. It's also based because the female Noble 6 VA's giggles when you get headshots in firefight are adorable.
The male spartans in reach were good but the females were even better. Bungie gave the girls a big ass and small waist.

Phil "DSP" Burnell is an interesting case study. He is a closeted homo, but in games with character creation option, he always makes his character look like an idealized version of himself (fit, muscular, full head of hair, non-patchy goatee, etc).

A lot of people in this thread are very insecure about something really insignificant.
Play whatever you want however you want.
If you get entertainment out of it, that's good.

Personally, I like to play as women.
I'm not a woman and i will never be one so it's nice to experience being one at least in video games.
It's great that we have these technological wonders that allow us to do this.

I think it's pretty sus when someone feels the need to defend his meaningless choices in a video games. What are you worried about? Something worse going on under the surface hm?

Nah jk. Play how you like. It's a video game. Just pick whatever, it doesn't matter.

Can't remember ever choosing the woman when there's a choice, but not completely opposed to it. Choosing the female doesn't make automatically make you a troon, but if there's a pattern of decisions and roleplay I'll have my suspicions.

The coomer attraction of staring at a female ass would get old after 10 minutes and I'd go back to looking at everything else, I don't play games to dress up a barbie doll.

Really, being so perturbed by this on some kind of 'principle' is just as absurd as implying that any author who writes a female character in their stories is automatically a tranny or in serious danger of becoming one. Or that engaging in any media with a main character of the opposite sex is automatically 'suspicious'.

I'm assuming the question is aimed at males. In games with gender-locked movesets like fightan games or hero shooters, it's perfectly acceptable, not even worth thinking twice about (playing Overwatch or Valorant makes you a tranny regardless of your preferred character's gender). In a game with a character creator where the content is universal (like an MMO), that's where it can get suspicious. I personally think it's fine, even if it's your first character, even if the male characters are non-retarded.

But it does raise a yellow flag if it's habitual. If you have a streak of first-timing games as a female character, or if you have an aversion to playing male characters, I'm not going to think "this guy sure does appreciate the female form", I'm going to think you find yourself most naturally represented by it.

Yes, it's really faggy of you if retards on the internet prevent you from playing a video game the way you want to. Especially if there's content you might miss that you want to check out by locking your character to one sex.

However my reason is simple: I like women and don't mind playing as attractive ones in my video games.
