Stuff like this keeps making me wonder if Venti is a lot smarter than she pretends, but if so, that means she chooses to be a sad failure who lives in squalor for some reason.

You see this sentiment a lot when people try to defend their pet ethots from criticism. "Oh [Shoe0nHead/Jenny Nicholson/Brittany Venti/etc.] is so clever because she was able to express a semi-coherent thought in one of her videos." And they say it in the same tone as someone who claims their dog is smart because it can pull open doors with its paw.

Brittany, like most ethots, is probably of average or slightly less than average intelligence. She possess the ability to observe, to learn and to hold abstract thoughts. She can think through problems, and come up with new solutions to them. She can even complete complex tasks if properly trained.

In other words, don't confuse normal human intelligence with cleverness. Brittany is many things, but she's not smart.

I sometimes get the feeling that some of the ethots are actually rather intelligent but too broken from bad childhoods/decisions to utilize their intelligence in any meaningful or reasonable manner so they wrap everything up in a veneer of stupid thottery because that's easier than trying to be a better person.
