A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Did anyone post about the Finbar Sullivan murder? Unarchived video of the attack. He was 21, stabbed in broad daylight in Primose Hill. An aspiring filmmaker and photographer. The attack unfolded in broad daylight while crowds of families and sunbathers enjoyed the sun. Police and paramedics arrived at 6:40pm but Finbar died at the scene despite desperate efforts. No arrests yet
The friend he had gone to meet to take photos with was also stabbed, pleading for the attacker to spare his life
A brave friend of the young videographer knifed to death on Primrose Hill was stabbed multiple times while trying to protect him, it has emerged.

Finbar Sullivan, 21, was killed at the popular north London beauty spot after going to meet an undergraduate student friend on Tuesday evening.

Finbar - who had just bought a new video camera with money for his 21st birthday - had gone to test out the device and to listen to music when it is believed he was singled out for attack by a stranger.
His father Chris Sullivan, 65, told the Daily Mail that when it became clear that Finbar was in danger, his friend, called AJ, had tried to protect him, and was himself wounded in the process.

Mr Sullivan, an artist and musician, said: ‘They went up there because it was a nice day. My son met his friend and he was also stabbed.

‘He [AJ] was stabbed in the back and in the hands as he was trying to protect him [Finbar].’

AJ, who is thought to be studying economics at Nottingham University, is now understood to be recovering after receiving medical attention.

Police response to the scene was dire. They absolutely failed to secure the crime scene within what's called the "Golden Hour", that is, the first 60 minutes of a crime scene are the most important, and after that, quality of evidence degrades.

I guarantee it was a nigger that did this. Single parent family (no Dad, quelle surprise) probably half caste so filled with simmering rage against whites. If actually black then likely a boat scum.

No details about the murderer are telling but on the other hand,Police took ages to get there.

All part and parcel, eh? Nuke London, the place will be better off for it.

Upper middle class, well-connected white boy into ‘drill rap’ and ‘reggae’. You lay down with dogs you get fleas.

They’ll never catch the stabbing nigger, they all look the same.

A vid purportedly of the primrose Hill stabbing popped up on my Instagram today. Went back and found it - dont really know how to download vids from IG, so here's a screen recording. Seems pretty legit given the injuries - I'm guessing AJ is the guy in white who appears to have been stabbed in the back. Not quite sure what is happening with the kerfuffle at the start and who is who. At the end when the camera pans, I'm guessing the guy in the light top with colour on the front is Finbar, and that's his blood. No idea why the video is such low quality, like its vintage tech. "Bro, bro, are you gooood?" in the poshest accent while the melenated (@BongoMongo how did you guess?!) knife wielder does the oddest running away.

Spoiler because I guess technically it is bloody and some people may not want to see those red pixels.

Edit: I am a retard and didnt see the link to the unarchived vid. But hey, I guess its on KF forever now

haha didn't you say you'd be at some model shop? my best mates ''boy''friend is going to go play warhammer tomorrow, go beat that dirty commie for me

Number 10 is bracing for mass protests over cost of living crisis - Officials hold near-daily COBR meetings to discuss potential demonstrations as the public faces higher bills. Communities Secretary Steve Reed has been placed in charge of "community cohesion" during the war but it's expected that any major protests will be managed by the Home Office and police forces. They note fears of 'stop the war' protests in Muslim communities and refer to 'previous protests' in England which required the use of riot police (I am assuming those were the Southport stabbing riots)
Ministers are preparing for mass protests across Britain over the cost of living crisis caused by the war in Iran, The Telegraph can reveal.
Officials from several government departments have discussed the prospect of widespread demonstrations because of high prices and shortages of key goods.
Economists believe the public will continue to face higher bills for at least six months, even if Donald Trump can agree a ceasefire with Iran in the next fortnight.
Fuel prices have hit their highest level since 2022 in recent weeks, with petrol retailing at 157p per litre and diesel at 190p per litre.
Traders also expect Ofgem to significantly raise the energy price cap at the next review in late August, which will apply to bills between October and December.
Officials have been meeting for near-daily Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR) meetings to discuss contingency plans for the domestic impact of the war.
One scenario war-gamed by civil servants included mass protests across Britain over the high cost of living or shortages of key goods including fuel.
They have also raised the prospect of Iraq war-style “stop the war” demonstrations, which they believe could be concentrated in Muslim communities.
Steve Reed, the Communities Secretary, has been placed in charge of “community cohesion” during the war, although it is expected that any major protests will be managed by the Home Office and police forces.

The risk of protests is one of several domestic impacts discussed by officials, which also included fuel shortages caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Publicly, ministers have urged the public not to stockpile petrol and diesel, with some fuel stations having already reported shortages.
Farmers have also complained that red diesel, the low-tax fuel used for farm machinery, has been rationed by suppliers.
The so-called COBR-O meetings, for officials only, were convened to manage national contingency planning and operated in secrecy.

Risk of community tensions

Officials are also watching the price of food, which is expected to rise because of the higher cost of global shipping and the impact of the war on domestic farming.
The Government is concerned that mass protests will place additional stress on public resources and inflame community tensions.
Last month, the Home Office approved a request by the Metropolitan Police to ban a demonstration on the annual Al Quds day to mark solidarity with Palestine.
Twelve people were arrested for taking part in the protest and showing support for proscribed Islamic groups

Mass cost of living protests were last seen in Britain in 2022, when Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine caused household bills to soar.
They were accompanied by calls for more financial support packages and a grassroots campaign urging the public to refuse to pay their energy bills.
Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor, indicated that ministers would step in to support struggling households, but said they would probably be means-tested.
The conflict in Iran has already seen small pockets of anti-war protesting, including at the RAF Lakenheath base in Suffolk, which has been used by the US air force to bomb targets in the Middle East.

Mass fuel price protests have also broken out in Ireland, where the army has been deployed to clear demonstrators from a port in Limerick and an oil refinery in Cork.
More than 100 Irish forecourts have run dry, and the protesters have caused travel disruption in Dublin and other major Irish cities.
Previous protests in England have caused extensive deployments of police officers, with riot-trained officers sent to London to quell disruption.
The Home Office has powers to ban demonstrations from specific areas, but faces opposition from free speech and civil liberties campaigners who argue that restrictions on the right to protest are heavy-handed.

Avoiding ‘mistakes of Iraq’

Sir Keir Starmer said he would avoid the “mistakes of Iraq”, when the UK followed the US into conflict in the Middle East and prompted million-strong demonstrations in Westminster.
Government sources insist that the chance of mass protests is remote, although it is understood that contingency planning is under way in the Cabinet Office’s civil contingencies directorate.
A government spokesman said: “While we don’t comment on COBR meetings, the government maintains contingency arrangements across a wide range of scenarios, however unlikely. That is exactly as the public would expect.”

Oh shit you're onto me.. No officer. I'm not some stupid man child playing with toy soldiers. I hate toy soldiers. Even as a kid I melted them.

Birmingham shops are.. brown. It's one of the weird things about going to Brum shops. Every other game shop is 50 to 1 white to other races. Brum is obviously not white enough for that.

The cheese/deli place I go to every week to get cheese and meats from usually has one of two white guys and a scrawny apprentice but today it was a fucking brown guy with braces and he was not chatty at all. I hope to god that the white guys haven't been replaced because they are so nice to chat to + make great sandwiches.
Indians are fucking appalling at customer service. I've never felt like it was my fault for ordering a coffee before. The white staff in other cafes and even the Spanish guys working at the cafe on New Street are super nice and remember my order but fucking hell, Indians/browns, especially women, are awful to deal with. Stop rolling your eyes you stupid fucking cow. I've started walking out of places if the staff are replaced with jeets

Indians don't wash their hands and they undercook food. I never eat at Foreign places ever. And I hate being bait and switched by white man at the counter and pakis at the frier.

The one on the right looks like they photoshopped a wig on her..

It sounds like you're from the brum area. I feel sorry for you. It's quite a bit of a train ride for me, but I like my autistic manchild shit and there's a collection of shops right outside the train station.

Is the model train shop still there? I could’ve spent a second mortgage in that place the last time I went in. Dangerous stuff for a Duane Dibbley type.

I don't recall. What was it called? I like Element Games except for the smelly brown people there. The Bandai shop was a let down. Forbidden planet was fantastic.

Not a clue. I just saw model trains and was dragged inside by the holy light of geekdom. It was in the line of shops just underneath the outside of New St Station.

Forbidden Planet was so good. These places, where they exist, are just full of trannies now. Depressing stuff.

The brum one was full of teenage girls sweeing over stupid anime shit. Downstairs has an entire wall of model kits for autistic man children. So I liked that area.

PL: The Indian Streetery in town gave me some fucking third world disease i needed 3 courses of antibiotics for, fucking dirty bastards. They did a 'food market' in town two weeks ago and I was excited to get some Portuguese tarts and sweeties, only to find almost every stall was run by Indians, including the 'Mexican' food stall, the 'olde English' fudge, the 'Chinese' stall... disgusting.
And yes the bird on the right they did photoshop a wig onto, found the original. EDIT: Fake lol

There's also that one niqab'd lady running for councillor tho who knows if she is who she says she is under the bin bag.

but I like my autistic manchild shit and there's a collection of shops right outside the train station.
The cohort of warhammer autists I know absolutely luurrvvvv Digbeth and the model/card shop in the custard factory and how 'great' it is on a night out, and completely fail to realise most of that area is white middle class people owning their own shops and pubs.
