A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

It's been like, what, a day? since he's gone against Trump. Of course he hasn't done anything to us yet, he's busy with the war.
This isn't the first time he has said no and it isn't only on this subject. There's a reason we have no tariffs and europe do and that's because they need us more than we need them.
And I can back that up with facts and figures as well.
Because it's really easy for him to say no while Trump is busy dealing with an active conflict. Every other opportunity to denounce Trump, he has not. I don't understand how you can think this is a stunning and brave move by him and not just a desperate, easy attempt to try wrangle some of the left back into his camp. Just look at literally any of the actions this man has previously taken throughout his time as PM.
I can disagree with him on almost all of his retarded stances but he has been consistent with tard wrangling trump - who seems to have gone whackadoodle since his first stint in office.

The easy thing would be to side with the americans and wade into this conflict, putting at risk the people who live here because of the muzzies of all flavours in our borders. That he should deport them all is another subject and my feelings on that are clear.

I remember being a kid and seeing the attacks during the end of The Troubles as I grew up, then the aftermath of 9/11 in my teens and then onto the seemly non-stop terror attacks in the 2010s. I have a family member still walking around with shrapnel from the Manchester arena bombing embedded in their body for fucks sake. Even with all that past experience, to me at least it seems things are the most unstable they've ever been in the UK, the West and the world in general. With everything seemly building up to some sort of large conflict in the future, the response of the government/Starmer to this Iran shit really shows that they need to go asap, hopefully to be replaced with someone with more backbone, a lot more love of this country and not a total globalhomo stooge.

People say wages in Doobuy are better, but are they? I'm looking at them, and sure I'd make like 10k extra, but a lot of that is the low tax. I'd have to live in Dubai though, and for that I'd at least want another 50k on top.
As I said before, the salaries were good 15-20 years ago. I was saving around 20k a year. Now, cost of living is up, pacakges cut...it's not worth it.

The shit skin's voted en bloc for the party that promised them more free shit and they won in a landslide. Expect this result to be repeated in all the upcoming elections
It should be emphasised that it only shows ill portent for Labour alone.
Check the constituency's history, and the histories of the constituencies that made it up prior.
It was a Labour stronghold through and through with not a single constituency flipping Tory in its history. The only time one of its constituencies saw the Tories come 2nd place was in 2010 with a 2:1 lead in votes for Labour. (There's more images in the other thread)

What this means is the Lib Dems are dead, with Greens replacing them as the alternative left-wing party. It's really bad for Labour. And Reform coming 2nd despite the odds (the constituency never coming close to electing a right-wingish party ever) is remarkable.

Like yeah I don't like foreigners consolidating either to vote for browns (the candidate was a white woman) but if it wasn't Greens it would've gone to Labour. And that's a safe prediction given Labour was 3rd place.
1772587458592.png
(See how Labour's lost votes pretty much went all to Green?)

This election was hyped up by the Green's specifically because the odds were good for them, something they haven't done for others. Hell, @Made In Wales (Rest in Peace, PBUH) would be in here ejaculating over Reform snagging local election wins in Wales at the same time as this was happening.

This idea that the UK is already lost is some weird self-masochistic fantasy. It's genuinely bizarre. It doesn't mean it isn't a concern but the only people who think this are the same people who either want it to be true or simply don't live here.
There's a reason we have no tariffs

I've spoken about this here.
A foreigner wishing to export into the UK is effectively paying a 40% tariff, or 20% if they're importing from abroad into the UK and are a licensed VAT business. It's 20% because they can reclaim the other 20% from the government.

Pakis will regularly vote for white women for two reasons.

Bobs and vagen
They're easy to push around and do their bidding while keeping a proxy between themselves and consequences of their actions.

They used to be. I know a few oil and gas types who were working there for a few years in the 90s. Insane packages for employment - villas rented for them free, all the flights and kids schools and cars sort of thing. Earning 250k a year and it was all pocket money, no tax.
Everyone I knew who worked there detested it, and came home after a few years, with enough money to buy a massive house outright. I think now it’s not worth it outside of a few niche contracts.

My ex father in law was there for seven years. He got out as soon as he'd socked away enough to buy a house and save for a comfortable retirement (which he took, in somewhere in the Med, and was cut short by his insane alcoholic tendencies). He despised it, and this was a good few decades back now.

He hated everything about the place. Couldn't stand it.

I can only imagine it's worse and I can't really understand anyone who would choose to go there. It's no glamorous. It's filled with people whose whole way of life is anathema to ours (and I don't have an issue with that per se, muslim people belong in muslim countries) and if you fuck around, you'll absolutely find out.

I'm just sad Guntal is no longer out in that region ,that would have been hilarious. Would the Canadian government have had to commission a beluga to fly her home? Alas, we'll never know :(

Oh in positive news, the sun was making an appearance when I knocked off work at 0700, and I've not had to put the heating on!!

Nobody else has and trump still hasn't hit us with tariffs.
Spain has said no to the US using jointly-operated bases to attack Iran.
“We’re going to cut off all trade with Spain,” Trump said during a sit-down with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office. “We don’t want anything to do with Spain.”

Labour are only saying no to Trump because they're terrified of reprisals from Muslims. That's the only reason.
It's the main reason and I agree with him on those grounds. We would lose more civilians entering an a war that was supposedly ended by B2 bombers a few months ago, than we would just saying out of it. Not our war.

Europe should join together and remove america from the continent, or at least threaten it, those tariffs would go to 0 in 24 hours.

Crazy listening to people out in Saudi arranging transport to cross the country so they can get back to Britain via a safe airport.

Govt is telling people NOT to go to Muscat airport and to only arrive when contacted- so everyone trying to leave the country/region will be heading to Muscat. Brill

They have also suspended study visas for Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan after a surge in asylum claims from legal routes. Mahmood says "I am taking the unprecedented decision to refuse visas for those nationals seeking to exploit our generosity"
Skilled worker visas for Afghan nationals have also been suspended. From 2021 to September 2025, Afghan asylum claims equalled 95% of study visas issued, while applications from Myanmar increased sixteenfoldClaims from students in Cameroon and Sudan rose by more than 330%

Orange man bad plays a bigger part in this. Starmer has been Trump's punching bag since the day he got into office. Trump is everything Britain needs as a leader and none of what Starmer is. I don't support these half measures but playing silly games and flip flopping while the USA goes to war is stupid. Either you say yes or you say no and you stick to it. Flip flopping when the bombs drop leaves you with no allies. If Europe goes hot with the Islamic elements infesting it we may need to rely on the USA for support in ways we wish we wouldn't. Our systems are so compromised it has no way of defending it's self. So bringing in a long life and (mostly) trusted peace keeping force might be essential. The USA is the closest thing we have to a nation we can truly trust, with the military power and experience to regain control of our systems. Pissing them off makes our situation worse, and it's made even worse we piss them off when browns don't care what island you're born on, they only see white man as evil and white girl as premium slave.

I don't support the Iran shit but Starmer can't stand up to Trump and damaging our relationship with America makes a European 'civil war' a lot more difficult to win. Someone has to supply Europe with weaponry to counter the islamic arms smugglers.

Funny that Pakistan isn't on that list
