A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The idea that Farage is controlled opposition seems more and more likely when you consider how he 'suddenly' decided to come back into politics when the Tories basically collapsed and people were crying out for a real right wing party. It's almost as if some shadowy figures decided to create a fake far right party with Farage at the helm in order to stop any organic far right parties from forming like Lowe with Restore.

Also suspicious how all of Farage's parties seem to collapse when they are on the brink of achieving real power (UKIP shortly after Leave winning and the Brexit party). On the topic of the Brexit party, it's highly suspicious that he created that party just to then tell everyone to vote for the Tories who then proceeded to butt fuck us with the Boris wave, which Farage takes no accountability for even though it's highly unlikely Boris would of got a majority without his little stunt.

With Reform likely on their way out in the coming months, would this be the best time for Starmer to be ousted, and risk triggering an election if Labour can't unite behind a new leader in a week? I doubt Reform will remain relevant until the next mandatory election, and if this is anywhere remotely true:

Then I don't see any reason why the left shouldn't call for elections immediately, while the rightist vote is split, instead of waiting and all but handing the country to Restore. That is, unless the plan is to form a Lib-Lab-Con-Green coalition, which sounds certain to happen now that I think about it.

There's no winning at all for Labour as far as I can see.

Run now and Reform win, run in 6 months and maybe the Restore momentum has sunk Reform enough for Greens to win. Run in a year and Reform might have changed leaders and made a comeback or Restore could have cannibalised them.

Doesn't matter when Labour calls an election, they're going to lose it so as far as they're concerned it's better to just hunker down with as little crediblility and legitimacy as possible until an election needs to be called. For most Labour MPs it's basically "Would you quit your 70k a year job while knowing you probably won't get another wage that high again?"

Starmer wants £13 BILLION for war and cannot afford it. If only there were some contracts he could cancel and refuse to pay... oh yes! Better cancel some NHS services :) that'll cover it nicely!
He's mental. The army doesn't even manage it's own HR, they use Capita. What drugs is he on that he thinks the armed forces are capable of going to war?

He's losing the plot in a big way. Waging war is the last stand of desperate leaders who will do anything to hold onto power

Here's Farage's response to being asked about Restore recently, he's not unrattled.

God I despise him. Rupert Lowe has done so much with the Rape Gang enquiry, he's putting out a lot of interesting ideas and really galvanising things. And Farage has "no interest". Well, the approach is confirmed. It's just going to be "splitting the vote" repeated on a loop. It's the only argument Reform have against Restore and the moment Restore get numbers that start to rival Reform then it becomes an argument against themselves.

The thing is that Lowe is perfectly well aware of the risk of splitting the vote. The fact that he took it anyway means that he really thinks he has to because Reform will let us down. Otherwise he wouldn't have done this.

It's funny to see the government fall foul of its own GDP shenanigans for a chance. They're always using it on us to try and say GDP = Healthy Economy, pretending that every rise in GDP is a sign of growth when a rise in GDP can just as well be your rent going up or a loaf of bread costing more. This £13bn figure comes from a percentage of GDP. But mass migration increasing demand for housing doesn't actually translate into increased manufacturing capability for munitions or logistics to support the troops.

These shenanigans with Restore UK have finally given me a glimmer of hope, to be honest.

In spite of the fact I dropped a bollock big time at work on Friday (combination of misunderstanding on my end, poor communication from person I was talking to, and me being off my tits on antibiotics and painkillers lately) and I have surgery next week, I'm feeling something like a bit of optimism. At first I thought this funny feeling in me waters was an impending UTI, but nope. It's a small, nascent seed of hope.

Pitching themselves to white working class men is a very shrewd move as well. For too long they've been completely disenfranchised by the whole system.

Even though I'm not a man, they'll absolutely get my support. Reform are siding, more and more, with brown people whose cultures are anathema to my own and it's so fucking refreshing to hear someone in politics say, of millions have to go then that's how it has to be. Because ultimately, that will ease a substantial burden from multiple aspects of our lives.

Why is it things only ever (nearly) happen for real during the holidays?
Everytime I fuck off abroad for a few weeks, shit goes down and the gov nearly collapses :story:
At one point I was considering trying to get a few mates together to do a collective purchase of a house as the only way to get out of renting. I don't think it was actually a bad idea as four people working in a four bedroom house would pay it off quicker than a single person or couple. And then to get out, you need to find someone to buy you out. Which can either be another mate who wants in or by that point a few years in, maybe one of the others can buy your share out from you. You have the equity from that to get your own place.
I don't know how they got it past the council but some guys (all white) I know did this, they setup a (fake) ecommerce company to "hold" the property and made each other equal partners or something to get around fees or whatever I didn't check the details it looked dodgy as fuck, far as I know they're still doing it with multiple houses now which is probably a ticking tax timebomb but oh well good for them.

Well it's a sign. Do your bit. Go on holiday more, hasten their demise. I would donate to a crowd funder for you if there's a link 😁

It's not about going to war, but meeting our NATO spending obligations, lest he suffer the wrath of TRUMP. Starmer's operating on "the law says I must, so I must" as usual. He doesn't care what the money is spent on, as long as it's spent, because the rules say that it must be spent. Whatever rhetoric he employs is entirely towards that compliance goal and is as meaningless as just about anything else he says.

It's a complicated topic as well. The UK, until very recently, did meet and often exceeded its NATO budget requirements, but the military has clearly not been fit for purpose for more than 30 years (in many ways it hasn't been fit for purpose since before the great war, but at least we had one back then). A lot of money was spent on useless things and senior staff (but I repeat myself), with very little left over for operational purposes or R&D. It can't even be used as an indirect subsidy for native industry any more, as thanks to Blair and Cameron, all our military spending was oriented on a Europe-first policy, leading to several UK suppliers losing contracts and going under.

As long as they've got the correct activities codes for the company and aren't actively trying to avoid tax, it should be legal. There's enough of it happening that some accountancy firms and solicitors specialise in the field.

one lesson you should learn from the mistakes of us Amerifats is that if you ever try to seriously fix this it's going to be really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really budget-breakingly expensive

Reform have announced their departmental leaders for any future government.

Tice - Deputy PM, Business, Trade & Energy
Jenrick - Treasury
Yusuf - Home Affairs
Braverman - Education, Skills and Equality

You may notice that they did not announce an owner of the Foreign Affairs brief. It was leaked last night that this was going to be Zahawi, but no announcement was made today. Intriguing.

It seems that Lowe was kicked out of Reform and went straight to writing policies like a lovelorn emo writes break-up poems.
It's refreshing to see someone have policies to discuss and ready to roll.

I'm not that much into politics, it's all so tiresome, however my biggest gripe has been the lack of policy discussion at the last few elections.
"Something about covid", "We don't like the tories" "indian billion with a lisp, bad" are not policies.

See? Even if you expect a Reform government, every new member for Restore puts pressure on Reform to actually come up with policies and action plans. Sargon's little video the other day about how Reform hadn't even announced a shadow cabinet and now there was finally someone else he could vote for maybe hit home.

I hope Lowe can gain some proper support. Disgusting that Reform are using the same dirty tricks of 'racist and faggotist' that they were subject to for a while.
I note that Welsh fag is missing. Someone needs to do a safety check on him :D

Party Responses to the Reform Shadow Cabinet. Everyone is on the same 'this is just the Tories' line.
Tories
After months of infighting and leaks, Nigel Farage has unveiled a front bench dominated by ex-Conservatives - a line-up that looks more like a tribute act to the old Conservative Party than a credible alternative. Even now, some are already eyeing their next career move, while others who were clearly expecting promotion have been left out in the cold. Today’s underwhelming announcement proves Reform remains a one-man band. Only the Conservatives, under Kemi Badenoch, have the depth, experience and serious plan to Get Britain Working Again
Labour
Farage’s top team of failed Tories spent over 3,000 days inflicting untold damage on our country in government, trashing our economy, hammering families’ mortgages, and leaving our borders open. They failed Britain before – they’d do the same again under Reform. Today’s appointments clearly reveal that neither keeping our nation safe nor tackling NHS waiting lists are priorities for Farage or Reform UK. Only Keir Starmer’s Labour Government is delivering on the people’s priorities by tackling the cost of living and cutting NHS waiting lists
Lib Dem
This Reform-Tory 'Fifty Shades of Blue' love-in is fooling no one. Robert Jenrick voted for Liz Truss's economic disaster of a mini-budget, now he wants to do the same damage to the economy all over again. Nigel Farage is welcome to give his colleagues new name badges but it won't change the opinion of the country - that Conservatives, current or former, are totally unfit to govern
Restore Britain
So it’s finally official - Jenrick is Farage’s right hand-man. He is Reform’s ‘shadow’ Chancellor. Please think about what this man’s track record is. He HAD the power, and what did he do with it? He opened countless migrant hotels in communities all over Britain. Putting these third world criminals next to schools. Nurseries. Three star hotels is his minimum, remember… He was the immigration minister when this suffering was all inflicted on the British people. I will never forget that, and nor should you. Jenrick stated that rural areas should be forced to accept more of these invaders

From that poll it couldn't be more obvious that the "immediate" 10% stating voting intention for Restore is just disaffected former Reform voters (like myself). The Reform share literally went don't by the exact same amount - from 35% down to 25%.

Therefore it shouldn't be a mystery of "how did they get so much support so quickly??" , these voters already existed and were right here for the taking, until Reform whizzed it down their leg.

Also it's so refreshing to read Restore's policies: no foreign aid, death penalty for paedos, deportations and emigration, no more tranny shit. It's not like I need to sit here and pontificate on "ooh well I like this policy over here but that party has a better economic policy...". The country is literally dying, and they're the only party offering any kind of serious solution.

Also it helps that they don't mince their words - migrants are "invaders", trannies are "perverts". As I say, pretty refreshing.
