A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Some times I pretend to be autistic and retarded for comedic effect. If I ever say anything retarded it's a joke.
So Trump has included the UK in his newly announced 10% tariffs on a range of countries in Europe over Greenland.

But I thought every country in the world already had 10% tariffs?
We got an exception for the AI trade deal they set up. But they've fucked that over with the emergency law so the US has gone back on it's tariffs.
It was a picture of them on a washing line. Twitter wankers being wankers.

At the behest of @Otterly I am returning, as she has alerted me to the fact that somebody here has mentioned 'Liza Tarbuck' and 'sexy' in the same sentence.

Just what the heck?

I suppose it's not as bad as ALR or Foodie Beauty, but guys and girls... seriously?

Jimmy Tarbuck was IMO the only talented Tarbuck:

Brucie: The last time I was on the Golf Course, I was in the bunker for most of the day.'

Tarbie: 'Ho ho, you're like Hitler then, he was in the bunker too! Ho, ho!'

Barring some exemptions, it does. For the UK included. He's a bit woolly with the wording and the reporting isn't much better, but I'm reading it as an additional 10% on top of the existing. Which would quite suck. Might also mean it gets added to the currently exempted categories like pharmaceuticals. Don't know. BBC and others seem to be reporting it seriously. He might do it.

I listened to an analysis that says Trump will hold NATO withdrawal as a threat over the EU if they don't lean on Denmark to "sell" Greenland to the USA.

I don't think Trump would actually annex Greenland despite that he can be a bit of a lunatic. But I do believe he'll hold that as a threat in order to get them to sell. It's crazy to me because I'm reasonably sure that Greenland has the legal basis to hold a referendum on joining the USA if they want to and the population is small enough that you could swing it just through bribes. Every eskimo gets a million dollars sort of deal. Greenland has the legal basis to secede from being part of Denmark's territory so I can't see how they wouldn't have the legal basis to join the USA if they wanted as well.

I think it's a storm in a teacup by people with nothing better to do than virtue signal and if Ant and Dec had a pair of bollocks (as opposed to being a pair of bollocks) they'd have refused to back down. Not that it would have been their decision. It'll be the production company that hired them and came up with the ad.

Trump's definitely put Starmer on watch, and Badenoch's already mentioned that the plans are a 'terrible idea' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c1j8kw866p3t

I agree with the takes of @Overly Serious though I can see Trump going bull-headed if he feels that is the only option.

At a time when the Russia-Ukraine conflict is still going on, Iran looks like the next powder keg and now Greenland is becoming a hot topic, I severely doubt that Starmer and Labour can juggle these whilst also ensuring that the party stays united.

Certainly interesting times were living in.

Lasted less than a week. Over under on your next meltdown?

Really starting to look like Farage is doing everything he can to split reform even more than he did by kicking out Lowe. He never really wants to win, otherwise he may actually have to work and be held accountable for something, up until now he's been the guy egging on other people to kick off, then running away at the first sign of trouble.
Lowe may have it in him to drive real change, but nigels narcissistic tendencies will block him.

Welcome back sheepshagger. Mobilefagging but I saw reports that the EU is nicht glücklich with the UKs military spending and defence capability (or lack thereof). Interesting times indeed.

Farage's whole schtick is being the Underdog. He can no longer grift from his lowly position if he wins and becomes PM so he has to fuck it up and sabotage himself. He's like a shameless BPD ethot but male.

The thing is, Europe was growing closer to Russia, Germany had a major gas pipeline joint project, etc. Well that got blown up to remove the prospect of energy integration and the EU and UK leaders have gone all in on fighting Putlermort. Which means that Trump has basically got the EU over a barrel. They have no other friends. India somewhat, but only on India's terms of ever greater migration and agreements to recognise its university degrees as equivalent to UK and EU university's etc. (esp. relevant in medical schools as those degrees actually still matter).

The EU is in some of the same economic mess that the USA is but the difference is the EU can't offset it by just endlessly printing money and forcing other nations to buy it. The EU has also grown very complacent in depending on the USA for any kind of meaningful defence. In other words, it can't really stand up to the USA itself and has now alienated any other global power (Russia or China) that might serve as an economic or trade partner in the USA's stead.

(Well, I think actually Europe could stand up to the USA somewhat - not militarily but in other aspects, but it would involve purging itself of a lot of internal problems and current leadership lack the will for that).

The UK has already made various concessions not to be on Trump's list of higher tariff nations. Now we are seeing how much that is worth. Once you pay the Danegeld, you have to keep paying the Danegeld.

I almost want America to invade Greenland just to see the blowback. America's been up it's own arse recently and needs a bit of a humbling.

I doubt there would be any. Nobody has any real leverage.
I would motor boat Liza until I suffocated.
We need to put some bromine in your tea.

And I want America to pull all EU military funding, slashing EU budgets and forcing them to cut back on all this endless migrant bullshit and feel good ngo programmes now the belt has tightened and everyones afraid of Muscovites.
But a bitch can dream.
We need to put some bromine in your tea.
We need a cattle prod, or a re-education camp

Ben Habib has stated that he would consider joining a political party led by Rupert Lowe. He added that he does not want to be the leader of a political party himself. Is he fucking retarded? Does he even understand Lowe, at all?
Lol. Didn't Ben already set up a new party and ask Rupert to join or even lead it? But Rupert decided to go the route of a non-party pressure group, leaving Ben having to be the self-effascing leader. I remember Ben in an interview with either Andrew Gold or that P Maccormack (cant remember if his name is Peter, and how his surname is spelled). IIRC Ben was spilling his spaghetti about how his new party was growing super quick you guys, super serious, and could be a contender against Farage by the next election. Wonder how his backers feel now he's saying he would join a Lowe party!

A Co Antrim businessman has spoken of his concern over appearing on a controversial dating name-and-shame Facebook page, saying he is being maligned by anonymous users.

Stefan Getty said he was “shocked” to be contacted by dozens of friends who warned him he was being discussed on the ‘Are we dating the same guy?’ Northern Ireland page.

The Facebook community with almost 80,000 members, like similar pages across the globe, was set up for women to identify cheaters and also share “red flags” about potentially abusive men.

However, there have been concerns raised about the content shared anonymously in such groups, with some claiming to have been wrongly smeared and facing unwarranted online abuse as a result.

Mr Getty, a well-known tattoo artist based in Antrim town who is not in a relationship, says he is among those being named on the page unfairly, after a spell using a now-closed account on a dating app.

He also said he was shown images of at least one fake dating app profile claiming to be him and using his photos that was shared within the Facebook group.

Women friends sent him screenshots of a discussion around him, where anonymous users refer to him as a “narcissist”, a “creep” and even someone with a “history of DV” (domestic violence) under a post asking if anyone else had previously matched with him on the Tinder app.

Another post showed images of a dating app profile with his pictures that had recently matched with the poster, who asked if they should go through with a planned “date”.

However, Mr Getty, who came out of a long-term relationship last year, has denied the accusations being made about him in the posts relating to all alleged behaviour.

He also said he no longer has an active dating app account, and that the dating app profile in the images posted to the page is not his own, but a fake account.

He said he set up a Tinder account last year as he was single, and also wanted to claim his identity after being warned by friends that his images may have been used on fake profiles.

An active social media user due to his line of work, he had previously learned his photo was used to ‘catfish’ a woman in the US into an online relationship several years ago on a now-closed web forum for those in the goth/emo subculture.

He deleted his Tinder account in recent weeks after going on three dates.

However, he was contacted last weekend with screenshots of posts with anonymous users discussing him and accusing him of abusive behaviour and even of faking a serious illness.

He was also sent a screenshot of the post featuring a dating app profile that he said was not created by him, with the poster asking other page users if they should go through with an arranged date.

“I was told on Saturday that this post appeared the night before, with a person asking if they should go on a date with me. This was news to me, as I’d deleted my Tinder account weeks ago, and in the screenshots of my ‘profile’ were pictures that I had not used on my former account, I was shocked to see it,” he told the Irish News.

“One of the pictures they used had been lifted from one of my Instagram stories. Unfortunately, I’ve had my photos used in a catfish case before with a woman in America, who later contacted me to warn me after she discovered the truth.”

Mr Getty said he was disturbed to read about himself on the posts on the page, and said he is concerned that others could also be being maligned unfairly on the page by anonymous users without the ability to defend themselves.

“I have two daughters, so I understand the need for places where women can discuss potentially dangerous or abusive men,” he said.

“But if innocent people are being trashed, completely anonymously and without proof, then that’s a real concern, and could seriously impact someone’s mental health.

“It’s scary that this could happen, and also takes away from any good the page can do. I know who I am and I don’t care now about what they are saying about me, but I’ve since been told about how others who have have had their lives impacted, and even had it raised by family members and employers.

“I’d like to be the person who stands up for the next guy being wrongly accused of this sort of behaviour.”

In a video posted to his social media platforms, he discussed the impact the accusations have had on his family.

“When they are asking me if I’m going to be ok, what they are really asking me is, can you carry this? Are you going to harm yourself? Are you going to be OK on your own? Do you know how heartbreaking that is, to reassure people that you love?” he said in the post.

The tattoo artist has reported the posts featuring screenshots with his image to Meta, Facebook’s parent company.

Meta has been approached for comment.

Farage is fine with talking shit while having to do little to nothing in return. His time as an MEP has had him claim a lot in expenses he didn't need and he has no problem keeping the annual pension of £73,000 that he gets from it. Despite always going on about how the EU bureaucrats are wasting tax payers money and stuffing it for themselves, he has no problem doing it himself.

Nigel is a fucking idiot. He's not winning that 2029 election at this rate. Praising Nonce Watkins on Cameo, saying up the RA ages ago. He's a complete balloon who would be a net negative for the UK, Due to how easy he is to be swayed when the almighty sterling is involved.
The fact that no one has used these cameos against him is a wasted opportunity for any of his opponents. If you wanted to have certain people hate him, there is plenty of ways to do it with the shit he has said for money. Just show the loyalists/unionists the RA clip and everything else that would get them to blow a fuse.

If someone were to send the stuff he's said for cheap gains to Lowe, he would absolutely use this to get back at Farage. Or maybe he knows and is keeping quiet till an opportunity presents itself.

No one can touch American right now. And they all rely on America too much. Even as a joke just imagine if America cut off Europeans from it's internet services. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace all gone over night. No Reddit. Maybe even no farms. The country would collapse. All the old women couldn't talk to each other any more. it would be screwed. It sounds stupid but imagine the average family is denied their netflix and Disney plus. No more movies for the cinema. There's a lot of ways the Us can fuck the UK
The side effect of doing that would absolutely make Piracy blow up to massive proportions. If the UK government had any balls, they would allow it as long as it isn't any content that is produced here or in other places that the UK trades with.

He's doing the same shit as an MP. Lots of expenses, only turns up to the commons for the purposes of making a Youtube clip to show him 'owning the libs' or something. Lowest commons attendance in the entire house. But somehow has people like MiW write essays about how he's the second coming or something.

What a week in politics; Reform is pretty much dead in terms of the right wing. Starmer has destroyed the special relationship to the point that he will need to go to recorrect it. Europe has proven its ineptitude at any kind of sabre-rattling.

Farage has massively overplayed his hand. Remember 2/3s of voters don't like him. His jaunt acquiring the Johnson cabinet 2019 infinity stones seems to be going well. Jenrick's acquisition is going as well as a bucket of wet sick. Well, today he confirmed he is going to the WEF summit. Wow, vote for a party of turncoats, and get a party of turncoats.

I think he has actually pissed off Lowe, though, because he is thinking of an alternative. I am glad he will likely reject Habib, though. I don't hate him; he is a Muslim, and this was his issue with Zia.

It is great watching the Labour Party prep their Juilous Cesear celebration on Starmer. I do not think he will last til May, though; his colleagues seem incredibly tired of his shit now.

But somehow has people like MiW write essays about how he's the second coming or something.
Because these people don't actually look into the parasites that they praise. They only consume the optics that they spout. You can have someone who has been record doing shit that would get them scrutiny and they would ignore or justify it because their idol said the right words that they can cum too.

It's how George Galloway somehow keeps getting into positions he has no right to be in.

Collapse? That would be fantastic! One of the things that I hate the most about the terminally online is how they keep trying to apply American politics and "culture" over here. And with no more slop to placate the masses, something might actually happen for once...
